Every model engineer in the country cringing right now.

For anybody who is interested. There is a minature railway located in a small village in fairbourne wales near barmouth. The railway holds a very special place in my family's heart and they have this loco there. Her name is sherpa and she also has a tender too. Sorry for the shameless plug but families are welcome and so are furry friends too. They have other loco's there too its a fun time.

I just picked up Mallard. I've heard about some people having some issues, however I called DCC supplies and they assured me they will be able to deal with any issues if they crop up. With that comfort in the back of my mind, I feel very good about owning such a beautiful well running model. It's lovely. Silver Fox is my next purchase.

This is the first time I have seen or heard of a live steam model engine being remote controlled.. hmmmm not sure I like that part but the engine itself looks lovely. Congrats.

Thanks Mark, this is definitely on my wish list. I have visited Darjeeling a couple of times and was really taken by the little railway, it's an absolute marvel that these engines could pull loads up the incredible incline from the plains up to Darjeeling. I think Roundhouse have shown it the respect it deserves. I remember there was always someone sitting on the coal with a hammer breaking up the large pieces, and at least 1 person hoping on and off to operate the switches, heard cows off the track, and arguing with the traffic. Great memories. Oh, and if you're going to weather it, these engines look to have at least 20 years of soot over them, even though I think they hose them down daily. Just a reflection on the environment in which they serve. Beautiful engines and real work horses. Regards from New Zealand.

Not an engine that I would recommend unless you like lots of problems.

Have now fired my engine 4 times runs well except for the injector, not too worried about that working on the lubricator, otherwise she is pretty good.

Has anyone fired one of these up yet apart from the seller?

Perhaps when I get outside for steaming I may make a video, I wold like to hear if anyone has steamed their engine and how it goes, does it pull well, does it maintain the fire ok? I built and ran a three inch Allchin for ten years that was very successful I hope this 2" is up to par.

My engine now has working headlights, a new steering wheel, a bracket for the pressure gauge, a lubricator cup on top of the cross slide, wood slats on the cab floor, a wood running board but kept the metal tool box, the next thing is to replace the steering chain with one that doesn't bind up under the boiler, then just waiting for some warm weather to light the fire then I hope in the summer there will be lots of steaming, I hope my friend gets his crank shaft fixed by then.

The main crank is a casting, and that came away from the main shaft.

Can you get a trailer for these? So you can sit behind them at shows etc?
