Hi incredible video, but may I ask how you add the event distribution pokemon to the save because I would love to give this a try myself and see if I can think of different ways of beating the run.

Great video. i did a bit of math and it is possible to train scyther to take an overheat so you could use thief taking the white herb and not losing mawile and skamory it would just be alot more effort

So, like... with your "shortcut clause" you are forgetting that actual training isn't just exp, but EVs as well, so by not grinding, you hurt your Pokémon stats. If you are going to use rare candies, you have to use vitamins like Protein and Calcium, to compensate for the lack of EV training. By the definition of the "shortcut clause" if it's possible, you can do it, and using the same justification as rare candies, you SHOULD be using vitamins. This is why your Pokémon are all so weak. If using the "shortcut clause" then "EV training" is just you giving your Pokémon 10 Vitamins in each of the stats that matter for it.

I gotta say Imo you can use both replacing the starter and getting the event pokemon, but staggered. Like instead of right away all of them, like one after each gym or so. Giving it a more fair pacing imo. I still think what you did works and doesnt make it not count. That would be how I would do it. Granted I dont like playing games without the physical special split, so I probably wont do my own playthrough of it like that.

I think the GSC steel type only run chose Scizor because technically there are 3 "earliest encounters" if you want them to be Steel type. You can first aquire the metal coat from Magnemite on the route to the left of Ecruteak, making Magnemite, Scizor and Steelix all valid as "first encounters" and as a Magnemite supremacist I would argue you should always select Magnemite ETA: I just got to the bit where you sorta addressed that, I fully agree it's 100% players choice here

scizor can sweep then entire 1 part of crystal on its own since shadowball from gengar is physical and would be the only threat it has to worry about,you shouldnt be using scizor since you wouldnt be able to obtain that till national dex

I would personally say your starter should be some combination of the earliest possible obtainment and the closest stats to a starter.

Might not be the first one to point this out, but according to the wiki the two Jirachi distributions in Gen 3 are actually Ruby and Saphire exclusive. Maybe there is one I'm not aware of, but if this is the case, I would have loved to see Registeel be part of the squad.

12:10 all pokemon in the tournaments are level 25, regardless of their actual level. You can find a guy with a dragonite at level 25 and ive gotten the chance to use a jellicent at 25 aswell 😂

well. i could theoretically start clearing the US/UM ones since i do own the game, though uh. i haven't completed a nuzlocke before. it'd be fun to try tho. i'd still have to do it through emulation since setting up recording on real hardware is a pain

RS Mono-steel should be 100% possible with the wishmaker jirachi from the Colosseum bonus disc (with a bonus of not needing time travel if you can stomach the absurd price they go for) since it provides a level 5 jirachi to the party.
