      the same way you would save any MP4. Its basic functions. You can use any number of free video editors out there to edit them down to smaller sizes. Most people just use the video clips they generate of the design andhave that playing suring the presentation...or just use your logo.

    Looks like I need to keep on the Sketchup and D5 or something else for rendering. We are getting bigger and bigger stuff. I signed one last night that is awesome. SS has so much potential.

    • @vip3dcoreessentials
      @vip3dcoreessentials 13 днів тому

      For certain never have all of your business in a single box. You just never know. The majority of SS users will not experience epic performance failure like this. They will certianly experince the typical performance issues but usually not on this level until they are advanced. But as you see in this video there was nothing in this fiile other than a house and barely half of the custom shapes detail I usually put in these designs. I was going for under 2 hours total so I didn't go all out on the details. The developer has to do something about the performance issues though. Its getting to the point that I can model the exact same design and house in about the same time as I can in sketchup...that is not a good thing.

      Use a hot tub for the water but be careful because performance will tank with large areas of pool/spa, hardscapes and decks, planters, lots of trees, lights...lots of anything really these days. Performance is in critical decline across the board.

    It isn't that it will always be 4.5" low. It's going to be low by your water height plus your coping thickness. In your case the water is 3" down, and you coping is 1.5" thick giving you your 4.5". But if you change to 2" coping, you will be at 5" below the set height of the pool or spa shape.

    • @vip3dcoreessentials
      @vip3dcoreessentials Місяць тому

      If you listen to what I was saying I was referring to a finish height at 12" above zero. And yes, this will throw off SS data. I've done too many benchmark tests against my own spread sheets and take-off calculations that would convince me otherwise.

    • @galaxygamer8442
      @galaxygamer8442 Місяць тому

      @@vip3dcoreessentials You also mentioned lipstyle height several times and that everyone is going to do things slightly differently. Water will always be 3" below underside of coping and your typical travertine coping will be 1.5 to 1.75" in thickness so an average of -4.5" is what it is. You even made a measuring stick to show the difference and you still have people who use that smart data crap defending it 😅. I've done a design and calculated with SS smart data and then sent the file to my boss and his smart data calculations were 18% off than mine. I will always use my own spreadsheets. Great video!

    • @vip3dcoreessentials
      @vip3dcoreessentials Місяць тому

      @@galaxygamer8442 Its the smart data parameters that are different between your machine and your boss machine. You have to fine tune those data parameters within the program to achieve only 60-70% accuracy. If users never touch the smart data parameters they'll always be off. Especially if they've never built anytihing in the field to know any better. We have close to 3000 people in the facebook group and we've had this discussion in depth...they all say, "I just add 20-25% to whatever smart data says"...that is never good. And yes I called out the parameters in the video that I was using and took an average of -4.5" per the measuring sticks I used. And no, I will never use SS Smart Data.

    Windows Key + Shift + S ---> will save you some time and allow you to do a screen clipping instead of print screen the entire desktop and then crop. You may have to to "enable" the screen clipping feature the first time you press that key combination.

    • @vip3dcoreessentials
      @vip3dcoreessentials 2 місяці тому

      As stated in the video, using the MSPaint method results in the smaller file size without reduction in resolution, which is the ultimate goal. Clipped files are larger so, I will pass on the larger files. Thank you for watching.

    • @ScotPfuntner
      @ScotPfuntner 2 місяці тому

      @@vip3dcoreessentials You would use the Windows Key+Shift+S combo to take a screen clipping in place of - Fill screen with survey image, Print Screen, paste into MS Paint, crop image, select and then paste again into new file in MS Paint. You could just screen clip, open MSPaint, resize the white area to smaller than size of screen clipping, paste it and it will automatically resize the canvas to screen clipping size. Then you can scale the image with the editor options. Then save as jpg at smaller size. just trying to save you some steps. please disregard if you don't find it useful. I love your vids and they are very instructive.

    • @vip3dcoreessentials
      @vip3dcoreessentials 2 місяці тому

      @@ScotPfuntner I appreciate it. I do use clipping for photos and other things and it is a good tool. The ultimate goal is for users to reduce the file size of the background image without losing resolution so however users can do that while keeping the file size in the KB range is critical for this particular program. I can execute this method in mere seconds because I've done it for so many years as the snipping tool you are referring to wasn't introduced until 2007 in Windows. Slowing down the process for this video makes it appear long and complicated but after a few attempts, users will find that this is quite simple. But again the point is, never import massive background images, so however and whatever users need to do to make sure they do not have massive background images they need to do it. Whether they find compressing files easier, snipping images easier or screen shotting images easier...just be aware that the program performance declines greatly with large background image files...especially PDFs.

This was a really great video though and never thought of doing the background images that way. I will sometimes use the snip & sketch tool to take a snapshot of the survey and save it as a jpeg and then import it. But I never though to check the size of the file and reduce it down the way you showed to improve performance. Really like your content! P.S will they ever make beach entries easy???
