It isn't that it will always be 4.5" low. It's going to be low by your water height plus your coping thickness. In your case the water is 3" down, and you coping is 1.5" thick giving you your 4.5". But if you change to 2" coping, you will be at 5" below the set height of the pool or spa shape.

If you listen to what I was saying I was referring to a finish height at 12" above zero. And yes, this will throw off SS data. I've done too many benchmark tests against my own spread sheets and take-off calculations that would convince me otherwise.

@@vip3dcoreessentials You also mentioned lipstyle height several times and that everyone is going to do things slightly differently. Water will always be 3" below underside of coping and your typical travertine coping will be 1.5 to 1.75" in thickness so an average of -4.5" is what it is. You even made a measuring stick to show the difference and you still have people who use that smart data crap defending it 😅. I've done a design and calculated with SS smart data and then sent the file to my boss and his smart data calculations were 18% off than mine. I will always use my own spreadsheets. Great video!

@@galaxygamer8442 Its the smart data parameters that are different between your machine and your boss machine. You have to fine tune those data parameters within the program to achieve only 60-70% accuracy.
If users never touch the smart data parameters they'll always be off. Especially if they've never built anytihing in the field to know any better. We have close to 3000 people in the facebook group and we've had this discussion in depth...they all say, "I just add 20-25% to whatever smart data says"...that is never good.
And yes I called out the parameters in the video that I was using and took an average of -4.5" per the measuring sticks I used. And no, I will never use SS Smart Data.

@@vip3dcoreessentials Excellent tips though. I'm sure we'll see a lot of that entry level pool studio stuff looking a lot better now 😂 I know I learn something new every time I watch these vids haha. Thank you!
