    If I am kneeling down on grass I use an old chair pad. It keeps my knees from getting soggy and mud off my pants. Grass can look dry but sometimes it isn't. I do like your work. And thanks for not making your son clean. It's not really a kid thing, you are very wise not to make him. He's a nice person.

    You have such dedication to this work. I admire that and I have a suggestion. When you have a sunken stone you have to dig out, you may want to pack some pea gravel around it, so the overgrowth have a barrier. Margaret Del Wilburn lives for another day.❤

    • @VirginiaTombstoneRevival
      @VirginiaTombstoneRevival 2 дні тому

      We have raised several of these stones and laid down pea gravel to help them long term...but I have received a lot of negative feed back on this, so I am hesitant on more of that.

    • @habslover2306

      @@VirginiaTombstoneRevivalThe way I read Renee's comment, she wasn't talking about pulling the stone out of the ground and putting gravel under the stone to lift it. I thought - but may be very wrong - that she meant putting gravel in the "trench" you dug around the stone. This would leave the stone at its current height but with a moat of gravel around it, hoping to slow down the regrowth of grasses. 🤔

    With these type of grave markers, do a lot of them get “lost” over time in the grass?

    • @VirginiaTombstoneRevival
      @VirginiaTombstoneRevival 2 дні тому

      Definitely. I have stumbled across (literally in one case) a few of these totally covered up and was fortunate enough to be able to bring them back. A lot of these that I’ve done recently in this style were never even photographed for a Find A Grave profile because they were lost or completely covered over. So as I’m finding them, I’m adding at least a photo to the website in case family is looking for them.

    Lol, I don't like the intro music. I had both bronchial peneumonia and bronchial bronchitis as a baby so I'm lucky to be here. So I have a bit more sadness here knowing I survived and she didn't but it also makes me grateful for the life I have had. She would be 16 years older than me had she survived or 74 I believe. You really need to bring a shovel and a bag or two of rocks to lift these stones up a bit. Bring Ronin and put him to work lifting the stones and leveling them off. He's a strong young lad with a powerful back and set of arms... make use of him before you hurt yourself doing this as a tired, wornout old man ;P Seriously though, thank you for caring.

    • @VirginiaTombstoneRevival
      @VirginiaTombstoneRevival 3 дні тому

      Yeah...I was trying something a little different with the music lead in. Not sure if I liked it either. As for lifting them...we have done that in a few other videos and it was met with a lot of negative comments.

    • @steveneighner7543
      @steveneighner7543 2 дні тому

      @@VirginiaTombstoneRevival I view that like politics as you'll get negatives and positives. The question is are they sinking into the ground and being covered up by greenery. If you lift one that's clearly above ground then I can get the criticism if you're doing something other than leveling them. But when they complain about lifting the ones sunke beneath ground level, I'd view critics as fools and just go on and do it because while I believe everyone's entitled to an opinion, if it weren't for you cutting the grass and moving dirt from them, in a few years they'll be buried completely and people won't even know where the grave is. As for leading music, why not Metal Church's song Breathe ;P Just to illustrate how some peoples opinions are crap, no I would not use that song lol. I would look for something a bit new age but low key like Enya to be a bit more serious or Loreena McKennitt. They're a bit older now but I got into their music about 2000 and I've always loved it.

    To clean out the letters and numbers, I use a "nut picker". I dont know the real name. But when you crack the shells of nuts, the picker helps to dig out the pieces of nut that didnt fall out. It is metal and removes bio materials easily but doesnt harm the stone.

      I have only cleaned one or two of the bronze ones…and what I’ve researched shows that the only real thing they need is water and scrubbing.
