More net found on VC reef

A few years ago I found a big net on VC reef in Volusia County, 3 miles NE of Ponce Inlet. I think it's a shrimp net that got snagged on the reef. Much of the net was removed but on a recent dive, I found another large section that needs to be removed. The net is located near these coordinates: N 29.13212°, W 080.89755° Maybe 50' or so northwest of the coordinates.

September 19th,2021 Heather and I went out to Volusia County artificial reef site 5 to see how the Viz was and to test equipment. This is a preview of that dive. A longer version will be released sometime in the future.

June 19th, 2021 conditions were not too bad at the Volusia COunty artificial Reef site V12-18LDP. There was a bit of much from an upwelling that had been in the area for a few weeks but the conditions overall were not too bad.

Preview clip of my diving at 9 Mile Reef on August 15, 2020 You will be surprised how large the material is down there. This reef consists of some really large concrete beams or maybe sections of an old overpass.

Some quick clips from my dive on July 16th, 2020 at Ponce Inlet north jetty. This was on the north side of the north jetty 200' from the end. Viz was not too bad and I found a few anchors. The full video will come out after I've had time to edit and narrate it.
Big Net Found On Volusia Reef

In the Summer of 2020, a large net was found on a reef near Ponce Inlet. This video documents its size and what it looks like. Hopefully, it will get removed before any marine life gets entangled. Subscribe to the channel and click the notification bell to see future videos of its removal.

Crossed paths with a pod of dolphin

Occasionally offshore of Volusia County, and other Atlantic coast areas, boaters can run across pods of dolphin. Sometimes the dolphins seem to just want to see what you are and other times they seem to use the wake of your boat to get a little push. They seem to like to get right near the front of the boat. This must be where the most push occurs.

Viz on the nearshore reefs had been getting close to being good but it just wasn't there yet. This video shows how the viz in the shallower waters right next to Sunglow reef were so much better.

Snagged a spotted eagle ray in ponce inlet while fishing near Rock House Creek. The ray was released relatively unharmed.

This is just a few clips from my recent trip to site 5. I plan to post a better version of this dive some time in the future. This reef was deposited in the 90's after the old Port Orange bridge was taken down. It is in the center of Volusia County Site 5 and is in about 65' of water. Any and all sinking of bkats / vessels IS pollution. The rusting of vessels , the paint on the vessels, ect. Pollution ! Tanting our water ways and oceans !

Not to be rude or anything like that but why do you sink boats?
Common question actually, especially from those that are outside the USA. This ship was confiscated during a drug smuggling arrest. It was auctioned off to the highest bidder. In this case, it was sold to the County of Volusia in Florida to create an artificial reef. Think of it as an underwater park. This ship and the reef structures that were placed in the cargo area have created a fish habitat that is frequented by fishermen and scuba divers. This is a common practice in the United States.

I tried but the footage was crap. I had 4 GoPros mounted around the ship. All you can see is green water. Therewas a small amount of the footage include at the end of this video.
