Oh wow I just found this video! I was wondering how do you balance your schedule with your gardening work so to not burnout? Because a lot of people say that they get burned out from homesteading… but you do it all no?! It seems that those who are successful have committed partners who make up for what they can’t do :) Thank you!!!!!!

Go underground!!! Semi subterranean greenhouses are the answer! You need to tap into the earths natural geothermal temp, its mid to low 50s f but its well above freezing. There an old fruit farmer in Vermont if I remember correctly who grows in 75% or so covered greenhouses all year round. They are at a certain angle for the sunlight in the colder months and the are a specific triangle shape. The window side was th angled wall and it was waste if not sholder deep. The wall away from the sun was solid and insulted. I think they had a water or fish tank for thermal mass as well for when it get far negative for a few days the tanks heat will dissipate but help keep the temperature inside more consistent. As soon as I get any land its how im going to build. But im thinking a bit deeper just to tap into more surface area. Sholder height and put a grid walkway of either reclaimed pallets to leave open airspace and gaps in the floorboards like a dock so air can exchange freely. Solar + a battery to a fistank heater if its brutally cold to make sure the tank doesn't hit freezing is a good idea I thought of. I have dozens of pallets and 2 solar arrays sitting just waiting to go. I'm anxious to get started on my build. Ive been visiting greenhouses all over and some use tunnels between houses open to raised floors like that. Figured Id share what I can remember it might be enought to find the farmers videos and his build info.

I would also recommend the Foxfire series (1972)

Not enough veggies if they’re vegetarian or vegan. And you’re young and ablebodied, you can labor and squat on the ground. Elders and the disabled cannot. And growing it yourself costs a hell of a lot more in cost of time, water and energy than it costs farmers to grow it for you. People’s who work can’t do it, elders can’t do it, young kids can’t do it, the disabled can’t do it, and I doubt there’s much variety in your yard. It’s a hobby for you. Enjoy it while you’re young.

Then 🌀 Helene hit, more are homeless and their small children are being taken bc they've lost their homes due to flooding. They are being told a camper or insulated out building is not a home. Hi Chuck! Im growing lettuce, pepper, eggplants, kale, broccoli, mustard greens, tomatoes off my indoor hydroponic system. I just did my final harvest of peas before pulling them out and got 340g nutritous mange tout! Keep doing what your doing! Brilliant work!

In the video, you had a tank that was about 300 gallons that held 100 tilapia. What is the name for that specific set up? I'm new to aquaponics, and I was going to start with the chop and flip IBC tank. Can I eventually upgrade the chop and flip into the kind of system you have?
