What about aligning it up using strings, then putting super tracker back on and adjusting it to the same numbers you were getting off the strings.
That is an excellent idea which could work well. I might string my BX then use super tracker after!
Hopefully can get it all recalibrated and can get to doing some geo’s mate 👍🏼
Yeah I’ve found someone who can do it, I’m now thinking I need to find a rig myself then I’ll never have to pay anyone again!
Keep the rs3 videos coming 👍
Will do! I get a fair few come through the workshop!
2.0 or old 2.2 better engine? Wet belt and chain intervals?
Unsure to be honest. I’m not a big Ford man, I don’t mind these 2.0’s tho. Nice and quiet and bags of power
BX in the corner 👀☺
Haha that’s my personal car. Got a full video series on it if you’re interested. Bloody love that car 😂😂
I was a ford mechanic in the late 80s, back than most transits had no pas and weren't a nice van to drive, but they were fairly bombproof. I mean you had to be a serious muppit to wreck an engine in one. Nowadays they drive lovley (for a van), but seem to have a constant stream of problems, I know which Id prefer.
Yeah they do drive great!! I believe most the issues could be avoided with proper maintenance
Is it common for a sump leak and front main seal leak to occur at the same time? Mine went after 65,000 km which seems very surprising.
Honesty couldn’t tell you! Can’t say I’ve ever seen at front mains leak
Why do these bloody engines have so much wiring / piping ? It’s ludicrous, had all this crap when I did my wet belts on my C-Max 1.0 Ecoboost, had to take about 3000 photos (no only kidding but took at least 50 step by step & reverted to them when reassembling ) its madness but they are there first a reason I know 😣🤙
These are an absolute doddle and not very complicated in comparison to a VW 6.1 MAR engine!
I have a '16 Golf R. Am interested in doing this as a precaution, how much are all the parts? Can i buy direct as from S Wales so imagine be a bit of a trek !!
If that much sealant has pushed through on the outside I dread to think how much is on the inside which will eventually break off and clog up the oil pick up strainer 🙈
Hmm that’s a decent level of sealant. A nice 3mm bead. A nice even amount has spread through. I don’t see a problem whatsoever
Such a good day, I’m looking forward to the next one 👊🏻🍀🥖
We need to get one put in the Calendar !!
Enjoyed the vid, about to put a set of these on mine. Have you heard much about how well they hold up on track? Cheers
Cheers! Also I’m unsure, non of my customers use their vehicles on track. They handle fast road use very well tho.
🥖🥖🥖
This is the reason, ford went down with the intervall from 150000 miles to 100000 miles (or 6 years instead of 10....)
Yep! This was on 130k miles. I might have one in soon on 70k with a snapped belt!
Pleiades car services can repair any hydraulic valve on a Citroen, i got them to repair my power steering valve a few years ago.
Great stuff to know!!!
Have you got the part numbers for the sump plug and oil filter? I can't seem to find a definite part number for the 8Y RS3
I don’t know matey, just go to your local dealer and get them 👍
@@ZakKol69 Thanks mate and yeah probs will do, I was just hoping to avoid asking as it's still under warranty. Not had its first service so, I don't want them to get funny if I do a oil change before the first standard service.
@@James-ns6jm yeah I can understand that. I’m in the trade so I just ring TPS for my genuine parts !
Cools as f&[k 😎😎😎
Cheers Baz!!
Came up lovely bruv. Just saved a couple from a date recently too. P2 16v and an 86 bxgt. The 16v just bit me hard with a shoddy repair I’ve just done my best to rectify. Rusted out and letting water in. Must. Save. All. The. Bx. 😅
Agreed!! I’m a firm believer of keeping these old cars on the road!!! I don’t care if they’re fit for the scrap or not your personal taste, if they’re on the road that’s great!! As for your 16v, epic. Bloody love the 16v’s but they’re unfortunately out of my price range
I don't think I've ever seen the the fuel guage off the red I'm sure the lights been on every upload 😂😂😂
Hhahaha she’s been running on fumes for a few months that’s for sure 😂😂😂
The gauge above the fuel gauge is the oil level gauge.
This is why I love UA-cam. Thanks! Hate how these don’t have a coolant temp gauge tho
@@ZakKol69 the higher end sporty variants (GTi) had temperature gauges. The 16 TRS is a comfort model, and thus doesn't have it. It does have a lamp which indicates overheating. Also, off topic, but removing those spacers from the front struts will probably improve the driving characteristics considerably.
@@jugostran yeah that makes sense! Hopefully my coolant warning light works, will do some testing eventually. And yeah I absolutely love the look, but in the future maybe over winter I am going to decrease the size of them a little bit to make it more drivable.
@@ZakKol69 That sounds like a good idea. I have no idea if mine even works. Also, regarding the look - BXs sink fairly low as standard, and at the lowest setting they ride on the bump stops (you aren't supposed to drive them like that). Considering one of the key selling points of the BX is the self leveling suspension which allows for perfect geometry (as explained by fellow UA-camr UP'nDOWN), I'd recommend removing the spacers entirely. It'll still look good on its lowest suspension setting. There is a BX nearly identical to yours for sale on the Autoscout24 online classifieds service (same colour and Ronal Turbo wheels) which has unmodified suspension, so you can see how it looks (its almost identical to yours). Another note - the windshield wiper isn't supposed to park in the middle, it's meant to park on the bottom left of the windscreen. While this may look interesting, it isn't really practical having the wiper in the middle of your windscreen for everyday use.
@@jugostran I really enjoy up and down videos! They’re excellent. As for my car, a few owners ago the vehicle was owned by the owner of EVA restoration, a man famous for suspension upgrades and making cars low, when this car is driving down the road it looks fantastic this low, an effect / road presence that a standard BX just doesn’t have for me, especially with these wheels. So I’ll definitely be sticking with the current setup just instead of it being 60mm lower on the front like it is now I’ll maybe go to 40mm. The wiper in the middle has also taken extensive modifications to make work too and wouldn’t be easily returned to standard. Also i think the “DTM style” wiper looks pretty good
Thanks for trusting me with the beast! It was mega to finally see the BX on the roads!🥖 already keen for the next one
Cheers for helping with the detail! You the man. Looked so good!!
Don’t worry about the Speedo that’s normal. Do something about the rear lights or they will get water inside and short out… saw you followed a cube, another mental car I owned! I made a Citroen oil key by grinding down an allen key…. I hope you changed the copper washer!
Yeah the rear light definitely needs some attention need to keep my eyes peeled! New copper washer was used!
looks clean. how did you do that?
It’s got a body drop on the front. Hence the raised bonnet
@@ZakKol69 thanks, really cool
Oooooooo BX❤
Proper car !!
what was the mileage on the transit ?
140k
This video is too quiet 🙉
I know! Apologies, I messed up with the edit on this one
sweet bx! i love the colour! I still rock a 306 HDI. and that is a pig to work on. Looking at the front brakes on this, they look very much like the rears on my 306
Love a 306!! Is it a D turbo?? And yeah it wouldn’t surprise me if they are the same. Strangely small on the front of the BX with the handbrake also being on the front!
@@ZakKol69 its the HDI model, the last of the 3 door models. on a Y reg, Budget 306s had these too, until they switched to the larger setup on the front.
Hi mate is the head a free spin or will the valves hit the piston?
Valves hit the pistons mate! Makes abit of a mess but all fixable
Odd way to lower the car with those spacers under the strut tops.
Yeah it’s abit strange isn’t it. It got done around 6 years ago. Sort of like a body drop I suppose. If I end up keeping the car I’ll do something a little bit nicer than that
Ooooo yeaaahhh 😁

Something's wrong with audio levels. I have volume cranked way up and can still barely hear what you're saying...
Yeah I’ve had this complaint a few times now. Need to invest in a mic I think
@@ZakKol69use audacity or your editor to bring the volume up
@DaveLaneGC it was my own fault, I was playing around in editing software and messed it up
@@ZakKol69 no worries… I mostly used volvic in my diesel bx… also if you have issues with the suspension the hoses pop off. So if after swapping return pipes you need to review everything

I had a BX16RS way back in the late 80s, loved that car!
So cool aren’t they. Mine is a 1988 model 👍
@@ZakKol69 Mine was a 1984 model which I bought in 1989. The indicators were on a switch on top of the dashboard, it was the best ride quality of any car I've owned. Only had about 95hp but it flew along, I'm lucky they didn't have GATSO cameras back then lol.
Those Alfa Engine 😍😍
Hahah your favourite aren’t they!

Autodoc have been great in my experience, I've ordered a fair bit from them and only had 1 part that didn't fit as advertised.
Yeah I like it too. Just got caught out by ordering the wrong part!
I've never had much luck with Autodoc parts, there used to be cheap parts, mid tier parts and expensive parts but since covid especially the mid tier parts just appear to be cheap parts at a higher price.
I think they do have an excellent range of bits
