A video showing how we sealed two leaks in a 22,500 litre concrete water tank using VersEseal rubber sealing compound with geofabric. The bit you’re holding is just the electrical connector and you can’t clean that bit, to clean the sensor you need to take the vacuum hose off underneath it

    • @johnvienta7622
      @johnvienta7622 2 дні тому

      . Do you mean the one way valve that attaches to the rocker cover? According to everything I could find, the part that was discussed in the video is the sensor, and you can certainly clean the connectors inside. If that belief is incorrect I am always happy to be put right.

    • @JReiid
      @JReiid День тому

      The sensor is the bit on the right with the blue Denso sticker on it, it comes off with the bracket (you have to remove the bracket from the firewall). The connection that pulls out to the left in your hand is just the electrical connection that is attached to the vacuum hose that runs into the intake manifold. These can get eroded over time but being an electrical connector it is either working (ON) or not working (OFF). And there is no in between. You’re generally right though I do believe that it is next to impossible to clean these sensors as they’re all sealed inside and even waterproof so any cleaning product shouldn’t be able to penetrate. I just tried on my 1998 Celica (7AFE engine same as Corolla) and it didn’t work. I think it’s best generally just to replace the sensor as a whole if anybody is having issues

      The vehicle in the video is still going strong in Brisbane and is driven by my daughter in law who does not believe in being kind to her cars. Do you think that there might be an associated issue with brake master or slave cylinder? I thought that I had a major problem with my Rodeo but discovered that the internals of the slave cylinder had failed, with the only clue being that the brake fluid was getting so dirty quite quickly after bleeding the system. Hope that you get it sorted out.

    Today 28 January 2024 2012 Barina TM Manual Trans. Gear nob replace/remove Mine was falling apart below the gear selector indicator. I tried the vice grip but it just yielded on the already crumbling outer part of the knob. So I decided to removed the rest of it and alter my goal, as this is where I figured I don't need a gear nob, as follows.. 1. Removed the gear selector indicator (top) as it is only glued and came off easily, as the already crumbling part holding it sort of in place, gone. Keep this and separate, with force, the base from the actual gear selector indicator (in 'resin' with picture backing) destroy the backing but not the selector picture. 2. Remove the rest of the crappy crumbling gear knob with an old demo chisel and hammer. This leaves the actual base gear knob that the outer plastic is injection moulded onto (I believe). 3. With a grinder and simple metal cut off disc amd skilfully use the flat part of the disc to remove the harsh edge lip around the top of the knob and other hashness and to shape the knob to ur liking. 4. Electric/hand sand the nob to finish any harsh bits the grinder can't get and finish smooth generally. Sand flat the rope of the nob.. NOTE: this is where I figured I would use a flame of some sort to smooth out the sanded plastic. I don't have one so I'm at the hardware shop now getting one that will, hopefully, lead to a nice finish of the knob. I've seen plastic in videos treated like this to restore a shine to a dull plastic finish so let's see.. 5. (To be done) use a lighter or high pressure lighter flame to melt slightly the plastic after sanding. I think a high power cigarette lighter should do but maybee more. 6. Glue the gear selector cap onto the nob with a mastic, I think this would be beneficial as the cap is slightly larger than nob. Remember, the outer plastic has been roved and the selector cap separated, so it's not all the same size. Or just leave the selector cap off if you know where the gears are, or make your own. I hope this helps. Cheers

      Where are you that it is already the 28th??? That is an impressive bit of work, and I especially enjoyed the skillful work involved in removing the rough surface.

      Australia. It's the nob with the reverse lift before engage into the left forward position. The only thing is it doesn't make the rest of the car, especially the nut behind the wheel, any better. Cheers

    Got 1 of those decomposing knobs. I was wondering if there was a trick to removing it.

      I have two videos about that job so hopefully it works for you. It appears from the comments that some of the vehicles have a slightly different set-up.

    I've been bending it back every so often, but Im thinking of welding some thicker metal to reinforce as its not a long term solution for me.

      Good idea as there seems to be a big difference in the quality of the metal used for the flaps on different brands.
