    I watched a korean UA-cam channel do a color analysis ages ago, and they included different types of black in their color analysis. Apparently off blacks that have a complimentary undertones are a thing. Maybe a warm black could work, like an espresso bean color, where its mostly black with the slightest hint of brown?

    Did you oil underneath the bottom cover too, you didn’t show it before you put the new feet on? 🫶 it will need some under there too, it should be in the manual, as well as taking apart and cleaning the bobbin race. I would have taken the top off as well and not just oiled through the holes, but i’m presuming you might have done that before too, cos your machine is so tidy! I love the old Singers… I’m lucky enough to have in my now collection of 16 vintage machines - a 287 Starlet, a 348 Blue Magic in the beautiful robin egg blue colour which is quite similar to your slightly younger model here… and a beige 301K, beige 328K and my oldest, a 15-91 🫶 all of which I knew nothing about but had the pleasure of learning how to clean and oil and fix up from YT videos as well…. It’s been a fascinating journey and I feel I know so much more about machines with this hands on journey…. Even playing with and fixing the motors!! 🤗🤗🤗

    I got a 70s A-line skirt pattern for a child with all the little embellishments like the zigzag around the bottom of the skirt. Still sewing with my 1970s sewing machine. My dad taught me how to mend and sew with a needle and thread from his army days, so....

    What’s the difference between a coverstitch and using a double needle on a normal sewing machine ?

    • @LizGrylls
      @LizGrylls 5 місяців тому

      A double needle zig zags the bobbin thread between the rows of stitching on the reverse. A cover stitch does a looped pattern which results in a stretchier stitch. Double needle is sometimes difficult to get right due to tensioning and tunneling of the fabric

    Good video ive been bra sewing for 3 years now its addictive once u get the hang of it don't be discouraged by the fitting just keep going its trial and error and your judgement gets much better with time. For uk bra sewists bratastic fabrics is excellent for the prices and fast postage ive brought from her for years now.

    How can you fix wire that pokes out of bra, I’ve sewed back multiple times but still keeps popping out

    • @LizGrylls
      @LizGrylls 7 місяців тому

      Are you sewing it with a sewing machine? Hand sewing isn't likely to work well unless you can manage to make the stitches really tiny (I tried myself the other day and the wire still popped out so I need to machine it). If the end of the casing is damaged and you have a hole, you might need to go over the area several times or even replace the channeling.

    • @NylahCosmetology
      @NylahCosmetology 7 місяців тому

      @@LizGrylls oh wow that is a lot! I’d have to replace the channeling because the rubber ends that’s usually on the wire is gone and the there is a hole! And idk how to do that without ruining the bra, I did it by hand I don’t own a hand machine haha I guess buying a new bra is more feasible lol

    Just started sewing underwire bras with the good fabrics. And its amazing! I am an unusual size that is very hard (if not impossible to find well fitted in RTW lingerie). Finally understanding why ladies get a bit addicted to DIYing their bras - you can have any color, style, and shape you want for the price of the materials if you learn to do it yourself. Which makes owning finely tailored lingerie within your grasp even if you are not wealthy. 😊

    • @LizGrylls

      Yes! Also I really enjoy the technical sewing on such a small project, you can have lots of bras without taking up much space in your wardrobe. Glad you got bitten by the bug too ☺️

    A colour analyst that I saw included lip colour in her skintone analysis - peachy tones to lips = warm undertone, whereas pink/mauve tones to lips + cool undertone. I think this could be a useful extra analysis tool for caucasian skins, but not for all, and maybe less useful as an indicator for some POC. It's not always an easy feature to be sure about. 🥴

    Now aged 70, I have had my colours done 3 times - at 40, at 50 and just recently. The season is the same but the colours have changed and become paler with time. I would recommend having it done in person as you have to see the colours draped on you to feel the effect. I ended up gravitating to colours I wouldn't have looked at as I could see what they were like near my face. This last analysis has shocked me again (this fashion for colour analysis has improved with time) as once again I am being shown colours that, although there in the background in the past, now look really good on me. Hope that helps.
