Ls swap neutral safety switch and reverse light wiring how to
Переглядів 37 тис.2 роки тому
Ls swap neutral safety switch and reverse light wiring how to
what is the function of the second light green wire?
functions same as the yellow wire but only in park ,yellow wire powers starter relay in park and neutral
how is the cooling with those electric fans and which fan/shroud did you go with?
been over 2 years runs cool fans come on and off as they should definitely worth it
radiator came with fan and shroud from ASI its for 1955-1959 chevu pickup on ebay
do you know what wire fron neutrakl safety switch is connecter to gear shift indicator on cluster (PRND21)?
there isnt one on the im using not sure about newer models
A9 WIRE IS CONNECTED TO POSITIVE? Or a flip switch??
if your not using an ignition switch yes if you are using one A9 has to be hooked up to the ignition terminal on your ignition switch this terminal is positive as soon as you cycle the key,not to start terminal or accessories ternimal.
I’m using 4l60e in my 71 skylark the nss is on the column do I delete it from column & install as shown ? Thanks for learning me
id keep the original nss and and connect your starter using the original cirtcuit (starter wires),
the ppl wire from neutral safety switch is about 20 gauge so this is enough thickness to turn the engine on or must be replace it for a thicker wire?
too thin if you use the switch you should wire it as described the switch will fail if wired straight too starter after a while
Great video. to the point! Quick question- does the park/neutral wire prevent starter engagement? I am using the factory harness, but have cut all the wires and made my own relay/fuse block. I am able to engage the starter directly though its own relay. The engine will crank, but no sign of spark or life. Have checked coil packs at the plug. I assume the park switch wire is irrelevant if the starter is manually engaged, since it will not cause the engine to not run when it loses power when the vehicle shifts out of park. We have not deleted VATS, so that could be it too I guess. Thanks for any help!
yes it only prevents starter engagement nothing else make sure all your pink wires power and your computer is grounded with factory ground that are in the harness, even with vats it should fire up for a few seconds
@@ozcorr909 Dang. I guess I'll check voltage at the injectors and plug wires. What else needs power besides all pinks, fuel pump, and grounded computer with the small black wire?
am doin an ls swap into my 52 chevy truck with 4L60E the question is if I wire the starter relay as the factory donor truck (donor truck is 2002 chevy tahoe): Starter wire (PPL) to pin 87 on relay, ground to pin 85 on relay, Yllw wire (neutral safety switch) to pin 86 on relay and 87 not used. The purple wire does not connected to any where it goes straight to fuse block but it does not have any fuse. so do you think the factory relay wiring works to start the engine on?
yes the starter relay is in the factory fuse box ,the starter wire from your 52 chevys ignition switch has to go to purple wire on neutral safety switch ,that signal goes through the switch out the yellow wire to fuse box relay then to your starter.that relay is wired the as i explained
@@ozcorr909 thanks for a quik response so the purple wire from starter relay and purple wire from Neutral SS go together to Starter terminal on Ignition switch?
@@javierargumedo3 are you using the stock fuse box,and harness?
purple wire from neutral SS goes the your ignition switch starter position ,,if your using the stock fuse box the yellow wire goes to the relay in the underhood fuse box location is block C1,rowA3 this wire is also yellow but thicker ,from there the relay sends the starter crank signal through a thick purple wire in the stock harness,
@@ozcorr909 am not using factory fuse block but am trying to replicate the factory relay but i was confused about the ppl wire from NSS THis is how i wired my starter relay: pin 86 Ground pin 86 to Yellow wire From pin G on NSS (F11 C2) pin 87 to PPL wire from Starter pin 30 to ignition switch (starter terminal) Ppl/wht wire from NSS to Ignition switch the question is: the Ppl wire from starter (12 or 10 awg) and Ppl/wht wire (20 awg) from NSS must be spliced together and than both wires must be connected to Ignition switch on starter terminal?
so the purple wire goes straight to starter solenoid? if it does in what terminal on starter solenoid must be connected?
Will this work if I swap out to a floor b&m Rachel shifter
yes
Patina paint looks really good. So much better than the rusty ones, in my opinion. Great color. Awesome truck!
thank you i appreciate it
Dude, this video just made my week, I'm using these same coils for my efi swapped 992cc generac swapped garden tractor and for the life of me I could not find a diagram showing how to wire these up
im glad it helped
Thanks for the video. Huge huge help. Great details.
Glad it helped
Hi!! The black wire from the conector should be grounded? Or I should ground just the relay?
no it doesn't need to be grounded the relay does though
@@ozcorr909 thanx man!!
I have a 2001 suburban and it only has 3 plugs for the bcm I took them off security light stays lit but engine stays running turned it off and turned it back on works fine but security light on still does it matter as long. As the engine turns on??
yes its fine as long as it turns on ,it will continue to work as long as you dont clear the code for the bcm ,ive been driving the car i put this engine in for over a year
Thank you for mentioning what the other 3 wires came from (clean ground, chassis and control) Very thorough video. I am about to comment on another vid and sound like a pro thanks to you.
Glad it was helpful!thats pretty funny
Thanks I'm fixing to take 5.3 out of Tahoe it going in 2002 GMC extended cab
I shouldn't have to change anything should I??
not if you dont mind the stock fuse box there will be a lot of it will be unused
OZ you are the man, you're the only one on UA-cam that explained the 2 pin style correctly!! Helpful hint to others: my colors on my real GM harness was different but pins are whats important. I also fed #30 with the 12v purple coming directly out of ignition on my 73 nova and 87 went to starter as Oz says. Matter of fact here goes my exact full pinout for anyone who have trouble with lights. A = empty on my 2003 harness (so unhooked) B = unhooked C = 12v ignition/switched 12v D = Ground E = 12v (permanent) F = 12V out to rev lite G = to pin 86 on relay Pin 30 = 12v starter activation wire from IGN switch. Pin 87 = 12v out to starter Pin 85 = Ground Make sure yall give OZ a like for getting us right!!!! He was crucial for this info on the older style switch.
glad it helped
Great video! Thank you.
You are welcome hope it helps
What color blue did you usenfor Your patina?
i dont remember the exact name but i used rattle can from Krylon its seafoam something or other in satin finish
Do you know what is the purpose of the second lt green wire, the one u do not use ?
I would this video was for a t56 :(
t56 has both the reverse switch and neutral safety built in to transmission itself, wiring will be the same ,you will need a relay after the neutral safety to starter those wires are thin
Good video, helped me alot, thanks 👍.
thanks you glad it helped
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Awesome. Having that issue with mine, you went to the wire issue which i was thinking mine is too. Thanks for reference
Glad it helped
It was especially helpful to hear the detail explanation too, diagnostic is priceless knowledge
Bro this video saved my motor! Pullin the boot off to check them while its running is next level helpful! Thanks for puttin this out
Glad I could help
pink wire must be connected to a constant fuse 12v and lg green without fuse go to rear light or must be fused?
pink wire key on fused ,wire to reverse light s is already fuse through pink wire
I already wire the relay following another video but in that configuration Yellow wire (G) go to pin 85 and ground go to pin 86 so it makes some difference in the functionality of the neutral switch or a short circuit? i have to switch those wires same as ur configuration?
it wont make a difference those two wires activate the relay switch
great video! so i would like to ask, Do you run the Lt Grn wire directly to reverse light? and Ppl/wht wire go to ignition key first position?
yes reverse light wire goes directly to reverse lights, purple wire to ignition start position only has power when youre trying to start your engine
what kills me is that everyone that does these how to videos talks the whole time...if you want to do a how to, then do the procedure so ppl dont have to fish thru the endless yapping in the video to find the useful information
so did it help?
Did it help?
Saving this to my " favorites" list.
It’s didn’t work for me everything quit working on my truck once it was let to sit for a little
if you are using the neutral safety switch make sure its in park or it will not start ,i put this motor in my car about a year ago and is still working without having ecm programmed .if you clear the codes (check engine light) you will have to get the ecm programmed to remove the vats and whatever else you need removed,i used LT1swap.com to program another one for me .
Hey man I hope you see this I’m not sure as do I plug them back in just leave em hanging?
are you talking about the yellow and pink wire i used to start it?
Will this wiring setup work with a 4L80e if the solenoids are hardwired to manually shift with a floor shifter?
yes it is basically a cut off switch cutting power to torque converter lock up switch when you hit the breaks
Wow it did really good...i just traded for a 2018 base wt with that engine and a 6 speed manual transmission with 4.10 gears.
yours should do a lot better since you can keep it in the desired gear manually,i do recommend gatting a trailer brake if you dont already have one ,I used one from Redarc easy to install
are the rear fenders wider? and what is the wheel and tire setup for sizes? ty. beautiful truck
yes 3" wider wheels are 18x8 fronts 20x10 rear ill have to check the tire size
Can a 4l80E lock-up solenoid try to lock up right from 0 mph and slowly accelerating from there keep trying to lock up? If I unplug the electrical power harness and the tranny goes into limp mode (2nd gear only) it runs perfectly smooth all the way up 60-70mph and back down. As soon as we plug electrical power back to the tranny right from 0 mph its trying to bog the engine down, vibrate, bucking and noise. It does that through all gears. If its popped into nuetral while coasting all of that bad stuff stops 100%.
im not a transmission expert with that being said ive had a similar issue where the lockup solenoid itself was stuck open all the time when id get past 65 it was like trying to stop a manual car without a clutch pedal ,wire harness connected or not ,Yours sound like the shift solenoid is commanding the lockup solenoid to open when its connected to harness id start by checking the shift solenoids
Ok thanks. Is there only one kind of lock up solenoid to purchase for all 4L80Es? Or are there different types?
kits on amazon are listed as 1991-2003 ,knowing the donor vehicle is best though
My ecm wires are constantly hot, even when the temperature gets to 200. Does my computer need to be programened?
if your donor vehicle did not come with factory electric fans then yes you would have to have it programmed to run the fan,or you could use sensor to run the the fan screw in to side of head theres an extra port for that on the passenger side right next to the exhaust manifold bolt closest to the firewall it has an allen wrench bolt as a plug,
@@ozcorr909 thanks, bro!
Statistically Dakotas used to be involved more accidents w motorcycles. I rode a lot in the 90s and you steer clear of Dakotas and minivans
Road looks wet to me.😂😂😂
Where can i get the brake switch can u tell what year car i should look for to get brake switch the relay im sure auto parts
go to ebay type in (gm brake light switch with cruise control )any pre 1985 will work and you wont need the relay
I wont need the relay can you tell me how would i hook it up ??
I just seen the video again i see tht brake switch dont need the relay the set u show does thanks for the info im do the brake switch on my truck i already got it thnk u again
hmm im assuming this is either after you fixed it, or as example to show that its got the beans!
i should have explained but as i was test driving it the muffler exploded due to a bad catalytic converter clogging it thats what was causing low power issue ,it does however have some electrical issues im trying to sort out will do an update video soon thx for watching
BEAUTIFUL
Thank you i appreciate it
That's the mechanic I would take it to the diagnose it!😂😅
When I put power to pin A 9, I get nothing. No relay clicks
this is for 03-07 id check that you have a good ground from battery to block ,good constant 12v to fuse box ,and that neutral safety is in park .
@ozcorr909 it ended up being my fuse panel itself. Swapped it for a different one it worker perfectly. I have everything from a 2000 tahoe
right on im glad it worked out
I cant get my swap started, no fuel pump prime or starter , could it be because i dont have my transmission and the sensors hooked up ?
mine runs then dies vats is deleted I double checked 3 times any ideas?
supposedly thats what they do when the vats are not deleted, are you running a fuel pump if so check that it is coming back on after initial priming .
Good morning sir, I watched your video on your rewiring the neutral safety switch and the backup lights. The question I have. I bought a truck a 95 Chevy and it was a automatic originally somebody stuck the NV4500 5 speed standard shift. Will this work for that application? I know the video shows that you have a automatic. I am trying to convert it over so I can have backup lights when I put it in reverse. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
good morning the nv4500 reverse light switch on transmission itself the neutral safety switch would be have to be on the clutch pedal similar to a brake light switch .
@@ozcorr909 okay thanks I will try that. I thought I could hook it up like you did and it would work the same way. Just leave my safety switch in park position I am more concerned about the backup lights working when I put it in reverse Thanks for the info.
I'm chasing something similar on my Jeep, thanks for this. Cool truck you got there too.😎
Thanks 👍
U also can get shock testing it like that it shock The shit Outta me oucchhh!!!! Lolz
