Hi there! I'm @NotYourAverageJoe - and now, Not Your Average Tree Man! 🌲
I'm pretty new to the tree world, but Subscribe and join me on my journey! 💪
You can expect videos covering the training and knowledge I'm gaining, my progression in to and through the industry, and maybe even some gear reviews! 🪚
I don't claim to know it all! I'm very much learning - but it seemed like an ideal time to smash out some videos which might help you lot, especially if you're new to the arb world and have similar decisions to make! 🎓

The Biggest Hedge I've Ever Lowered - Saving the Stables
Переглядів 5105 місяців тому
This row of Leylandi were a big risk to the structure underneath; major limbs had already started to fail and a similar tree on the property had already fallen, but the customer wanted to keep the lower coverage... So we did a substantial reduction, keeping the stables safe throughout and for many years to come.

I took on this little orchard recently - hopefully we'll have it back on track within a year or two... 🤙 Might look a bit brutal, but we're looking at long-term production here, so essentially sculpting the trees' new forms.

Here's how I sharpen the blades on my Forest Master FM6 Chipper. I've used the same process for much larger chippers too, it just takes longer.
Willow Pollard 🌳
Переглядів 2177 місяців тому
Pretty overgrown willow that needed a heavy reduction; its not in the best of health and it's own in-lead weight was becoming a risk, so we gave it a pollard and removed a couple of dodgy looking limbs. 💪 First day out with JP 🤙

Other tree climbers always know everything
Good video. Thanks
I've been looking / reading reviews for these sorts of chippers with the cutting drum supported by the engine crankshaft only on the engine end. No surprise, it's not uncommon for the crankshaft to bend or break off where it exits the engine due to not being supported by a bearing on the non-engine side of the drum. This unit seems to have that support.
Waste of time guy.
Is the nut reverse threaded or do i just need to workout more?
No it’s normal thread - I recommend clamping the opposite side in a vice if you have one
@@NotYourAverageTreeMan excellent, don't have a vice unfortunately but an impact drill with 10mm socket did the trick. Cheers!
this or with larger tooth size for dry wood outdoors work?
Fine tooth for dry wood it will actually cut faster than the coarse one 👍
👏
Very impressive machine, dealt with those 2-3 inches branches like a champ!
You've convinced me!
Is the sprocket the same on the 2511 and 2500? Cheers
Hey mate no it’s not, separate parts unfortunately
When are you gonna make a follow up on this video
It’s coming 😉 managed to convert a bar to 1/4pitch for this - suits it much better - have a fresh bar now to show the process of how I did it…👌
Very nice, excellent value for money. Was considering one of the smaller Forestmaster chippers
Performance for the price is phenomenal… can’t wait to see what this thing can do with dreaded conifers or some gnarly holly 😉
Didnt even show results or a before and after.....
At 3mins 10 seconds in you rev your saw and it stops almost instantly when you release the trigger. That chain is far too tight.
I agree - I can’t remember but possibly accommodating for a very worn/jumpy sprocket that has since been replaced 👍
VERY under rated saw!
Indeed cheaper than a replacement blade for most of them!
That's not a 200 that's a Ms 193
32 years in the woods/tree trimming/forestry, I have no idea how I'm still alive. Just, plain, lucky I'd say
Ahahahhaa love it you my kinda guy 😂
Did anyone try to do it like this?
I wouldn’t, it’s ’too open’ lol
hi great video , where did u get the internal rubber chute from please
Hey mate it’s called a rubble loader from screwfix :) retrospectively though a cheapo 60-80l kitchen bin would probably work better 👍
why are they finicky?
Because the rubber seal doesn’t match up properly with the echo moulding - if you overtighten it it pushes inwards and needs pulling out and re-seating 👍
@@NotYourAverageTreeMancould swap the original seals from the stock caps onto these??
What’s the point of painting it black ?
Looks cool and matches the other saws 😉
Brilliant, everything i wanted to know - thanks 😎
Climbers should never always trust the groundie with his ability, no matter how experienced the groundie is. Always communicate with the groundie what you expect.
How long does it take to wait for hot water?
Hi, are you using any screw lock?
No, however it is recommended - I’m also not checking torque, but ‘strong arm’ newtons has done me good thus far 😉
That's pretty good and a lot of people don't have common sense, and I'm glad you pointed it out I have the same saw but I've never run into that issue because I know I'm not supposed to crank it down on top of plastic
If you’re a climber at some point you’ll need filling up by someone else though - shit happens lol 😂
Thx for sharing about Bellebrook arb , looks interesting
Looks good in black.
Cheers man :) sent it black a while ago - vid of the process on my channel too - rit dye-more for the plastics and heat paint for the metals. Wish I’d got Dan/Bellebrook to give it a proper powder coat when it went in for porting though - he strips the enamel right down and does it all properly - would deffo look better than my diy jobby lol 😂
I had a look at his site it looks like he does good work. I have a Ported 550XP that out cuts my 357XP@@NotYourAverageTreeMan
Thanks for the review. I run a 2511T and love the weight and power but it, but seems finicky on the idle some days, so was debating a battery top handle to avoid all the starting. I will definitely keep this 2500 in mind!!
The saw is just amazing; a pleasure to use and first choice to have on my harness - however it’s sat on the shelf unusable - again! - because my THIRD battery has died for no reason! 🤦♂️ I have a suspicion the waterproof sealing on the batteries might not be as good as the saw - but frankly echo seem to be getting p*ssed off that I keep breaking them - they sent one of their staff & hand delivered the last one lmao 🤣
T-shirts would be better
Hi , what is that black chainsaw you are using
Hey mate, it’s a Husqvarna 365 - converted to a 372 (all but the low profile air filter cover) and ported by @BellebrookArb - latest video inspired directly by your question! …and everyone else who keeps asking what the noisy black monster is lmao! 🤣
I am trying out a 10" Makita bar 043 with Stihl pm3 mini 3/8 chain on my 2511 , it's a cheap conversion and so far so good
Check out the panther 1/4pitch - 0.43 chains - much cheaper and just as good IMO - the only other 1/4 pitch chain I know of that sharpens on 3.2mm with equally fine kerf 👍
can barely understand this guy
Try subtitles 😉
Are you using sprocket originally designed for 2511? But works on 2500?
No they use different sprockets unfortunately
Huge hedge! Good work. Nice house! Cool to see you climbing something a little bigger this time. 👍
Thanks man :) generally the bigger they are the more stuck in to the tree and less inclined to be filming - I should sort that out lol 😂
@@NotYourAverageTreeMan that's normal.
Wow that’s a chunk!
Big ol’ chunk boi! 🤙
👌
The last guy is hurt pretty bad if still alive.
Check out some of the longer ones on my chanel mate - they get worse… 😂
Great channel, I just subscribed. I like watching experts cut trees and I like to watch failures too. There really is quite a bit of science and skill to cutting a tree properly.
Thanks mate :) which do you prefer? The fail compilation videos, or the ones of me at work? The fails get a lot more views, but the work ones get a lot more comments, so I must be achieving some kind of good balance! :P FYI, tree fails 2024 coming soon 😉
I really enjoyed your fail videos. I watched one where you cut down a tree, but you had it sped up and played a lot of music. Besides it was a relatively small tree, there just isn't much you can do to make it interesting. Guilty of Treeson is my favorite arborist channel. Jakob does a great job narrating and he's funny, especially when he and Randy work together. He's also climbing, cutting down massive trees, travelling, and having quite a variety of tree cutting jobs. The jobs he does require a great deal of professional skill, and he is quite the master. August Hunike is great too, but not as good in the narration or the variety of tree cutting work. I think you did the best job of narrating the fail videos that I've seen. Good luck with your channel.@@NotYourAverageTreeMan
could you show the machine being used at normal speed please?
Hey mate check out some of my more recent videos - they might not be named about the chipper but I use it in most of them 🤙
These people must have their survival instinct off, why they work in such a dangeorus way?
In this game when under pressure or fatigued we all do things we maybe shouldn’t to speed up the process, but it’s different doing that with knowledge, experience and a basic understanding of physics vs this lot lol 😂
How much of a difference is there running a 1/4 chain? I have a makita battery saw 3/8 and was thinking of swapping to a 1/4 sprocket so i could fit a panther mini bar and chain.. just not sure if its worth spending the money?...
Definitely- it will be an absolute game changer & make it feel like a whole new saw 👍 It’ll put a lot more power per tooth because of the narrower kerf as well as giving less friction and rotational resistance
Not a pollard but ok.
lol please elaborate..? 😂
Yes, that’s a pollard, but ok… 😂
@@NotYourAverageTreeMan Pollarding: cutting a tree so as to encourage formation of numerous branches arising from the same height on a main stem or principal branches NOTE 1 This process is initially carried out on trees that have not yet reached maturity. The form of the tree can then be maintained by cycles of cutting. This is not the same as topping (3.28). NOTE 2 The pollard heads collectively, and the framework of a pollarded tree, are both known as the bolling.
That’s literally what I did… 😂 it’s obviously a mature tree not a young one that hasn’t been pollarded - so we established a new bolls to maximise appropriate pruning cuts as opposed to hack it all into uniformity, which obviously isn’t healthy on such a mature tree. Pollarding is also used to retain an older tree which would otherwise be too big for site where the other option is to fell. Thanks for your valued insights - however I feel to everyone but yourself, you’ve probably just clarified that I did in fact establish a perfectly good pollard for a mature tree. 🤙
@@NotYourAverageTreeMan you literally didnt, NOTE 1 This process is initially carried out on trees that have not yet reached maturity. You just topped it bro.
Excellent editing! Top tier!
Cheers man! :)

Rocking the new t540 mkiii when I need more grunt now! Keep an eye out for more videos
Update from a few months down the line - battery one back on the shelf, more electrical problems, 2511 still rocking the wood like a lil savage 🤙
Hi can you recommend a cheap pair of sectors just for light hobby use
Hey mate Okatsune are the best of the best, but fiskars make some decent budget stuff 👍
I'm unsubscibing from all the other fail channels. You're the Man! Thanks! DOUG out
2024 compilation on way… stay tuned! 😉
Hilarious and deeply worrying anyone can buy a chain saw. Best clips out there.
2024 compilation incoming… 😉
Great video mate thanks for sharing. Figure of nine how does that differ from 8? I’ve been looking for load bearing knots recently only use bowline on a bite currently this looks helpful
Hey mate, so standard overhand is one wrap one a bight, fig 8 is two wraps, fig 9 is three - so just an extra wrap when doing a normal overhand fig 8 👍
😊
