What was your setup? Like size hook, how much weight, and leader size
I was using 30LB braid and a 20LB Flouro for the leader which might’ve been a little light. Hooks were Owner SSW needle point in I believe a size 1. I wasn’t using a very heavy Egg sinker probably like 1/4 oz ish, a lot of people were getting bit free lining so that would also be something to think about.
@@SlammedOutdoors thanks so much!
We have the same bait caster and great vid
That’s awesome! Also thank you so much!
Great video helped me so much !
What kind/size of line do you have on that reel? Looks like well rope!
It’s 30LB Yo Suri Superbraid and I’m running like a 15Lb leader with it. It’s 8 strand braid so it looks a little thicker then it actually is.
@@SlammedOutdoorsGotcha. I was kidding about the “we’ll rope”! How do you like the Yo-Zuri braid?
It’s pretty nice I haven’t had any issues with it and it lasts for a while, it’s also a really good deal.
@@SlammedOutdoors Hmm….may have to give it a try. Thanks! Good video, btw.
Nice fish
Thanks!
What’s your bait of choice for the pass
I was using live shrimp when I went but Greenbacks and or pinfish seemed to be the go to the last time I was there so the next time I get to go I’ll probably try those. Didn’t bring a whole lot of artificial but I’m looking for artificial stuff to throw the next time I go.
This the kinda guy to try and make a small mouth bass a large mouth bass
Nu uh

How to fix if your tension knob is all the way up 100% and it still slips rotates how to fix
I’d try to loosen the tension knob to around 50-60% ish depending on how much line you have on the spool, the spool should still rotate but it should barely wiggle back and fourth if you put your thumb on it. If you set the tension knob about halfway this should help with that, the rest of the adjustments can be made with the brakes by setting it to 3 or 4 to start with and go from there. Hope this helps!
Bro my dc has drag slip. Idk what to do. I have fluorocarbon on it spooled at bass pro, I have to turn my drag star all the way down to get it not to slip. It’s really tightened down. Even at 80% tightened down, it still slips. I had braid on it and it was even worse. Any tips?
It’s weird that it’s still slipping with flouro, if it’s still an issue you could put a piece of electrical tape on the spool over the knot that you used to tie the line to the spool and that should help if it keeps slipping, braid has a bad tendency to slip if it’s tied directly to the spool. If it’s slipping on the hookset you might just need to tighten the drag unless your breaking off on the hookset. If this doesn’t help it lmk or check with bass pro to see if they have any possible solutions or if something is wrong with the reel itself.
It’s a majarra
You’re right thanks for the help I misidentified it!
If u don t no the difference between a bass and a pike don t comment
That is 100% a bass, we don’t have any pike in any of the lakes that I fish
That happened to me in N. Wisconsin but it was a small mouth bass. I had lifted the bass out of the water at the bank when a musky jumped completely out of the water and swallowed the 12 inch bass inone gulp ! It scared the liven' day lights out of me 😅 36 inch musky catch, photo and released it 😊
That’s awesome! Glad you landed him that had to be insane!
Thanks for the video. Would love to see your experience on rock fishing. cheers
Put the spool of line i(mono)n a bucket of water and let it go, the braid does not require this, as it has zero memory. !
The bucket of water is probably the best way to get new line on if you’re by yourself! Great point!

Saltwater is 100000x better. The only main fish u catch in freshwater are bass and catfish. They also barely fight. Fish in saltwater are so much better🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Hey! Nice video!!! I'm curious about your "strategy" to walk the bank with a backpack and 3-4 rods... I have an issue that I usually stay in one place and don't move/walk too much: maybe bc I'm too lazy, or bc I think "the fish will bite on the next cast" so I need to stay there (aka FOMO), or bc I usually don't have a lot of time to fish.... or a combination of all of them. But I'm trying to practice and forcing myself to walk along the bank, sometimes around the whole pond, and cover as much water as I can. But I found really hard to do this with multiple rods... backpack is fine, bc I can keep it on my back the whole time, but multiple rods is just super annoying: leaving the rods, making some casts, walk maybe 20-30 feet, and then come back to get the rods.... So how do you deal with that? Any tips?
Personally I like to cover ground just because the fish typically hold in like 3-4 different spots at my ponds so I like to try and at least spend like 10-15 minutes in those spots if I have time. The multiple rods is a pain Ngl but it’s faster then stopping to retie 3-4 times if I’m not sure what they’re eating, if I can get on a pattern I like to take my rods back and just fish with 1 rod plus the backpack because it’s way more efficient. I usually like to setup my bag and the rods I’m not using in a spot then fish the bank within like 30 feet of that then switch rods and repeat until I decide to try a different spot on the pond or decide to tie on a different bait. Also in my experience if I don’t get a bite in a specific part of the pond within like 30 minutes either none of the baits I’m using are working or the fish aren’t holding where I’m fishing.
I want to get one, but for a good price the only one I find in stock right now is the HG which is only 7.4:1 gear ratio. Would've you waited for the XG or just gone for that one instead?
I don’t see a huge difference between the XG and the HG personally, I’d probably get there HG if you can find it at a little bit cheaper price. Both reels are still on the fast end so I would probably look into the HG.
How i be when I see a bass in the water
You are an interesting critter bro
Man looks like he fishes for trout
Nu uh
thanks for sharing, if you are using braid, whats the weight. again, thanks and God Bless.
I have 30 LB braid on mine but I would recommend anywhere between 30 and 50 LB depending on how heavy of cover you have to fish.
Hey, am I suppose to be able to pull line out of it?
I would try tightening the drag and see if that fixes the issue.
@@SlammedOutdoors appreciate it
First fish I think is a porgy
Thanks!
Great job! Hear so many awesome things about that lake. On my bucket list to get up there and take a few cast one day
Thanks, definitely a lake worth being on the bucket list!
i prefer the Scorpion DC over that reel any day
I've heard good things about the Scorpion DC, honestly thought about getting one a while back. What do you like about yours?
@@SlammedOutdoors unlike the curado dc the scorpion dc comes with the same adjustment as the 2016 metanium dc; which is iDC5 and give you more setting
Oh I forgot that the Scorpion has a better chip then the Curado, I think I heard the bearings and the drag is also better quality in the Scorpion.
Bro so much info thanks!

What pound test are you using
12LB flourocarbon
Great vid! line, leader are you using off the piers? Thank you!!
I was using 30lb braid with a 20lb flouro leader, leader was a little light but it held up ok. The flouro was seagar red label
Thank you. Going there next week!!!
Good luck!
Heading to AMI in April. Can't wait to poke around and see what's biting! Thanks for the series!
Thanks for watching! Hope you get into some fish down there!
At 3:59 there is no way that sheepshead was 18 inches.
Oh yea definitely not lol, the audio didn’t come through clear enough to hear the sarcasm 🤣
Great vid! If you don't mind me asking, what tackle are you using? We will be going there in a month and just making a checklist.
The Snook were following and hitting the Zman Mulletron in the 4inch size. The Johnson gold spoon is a go to also. The Mirrolure Mirrodine is a really good bait there but I didn’t have any luck on it personally. Most of our fish on the trip were sheepshead and those pretty much all came on live shrimp.
Do you have to adjust it again if you chance the lure?
Yea
You might have to move the tension knob a little bit but probably not much
If put you line in a boot the line won't travel everywhere.
Nice video, seabirds look ready for free fish 🦆🦆
Thanks, those things are ruthless

Dude going fishing there soon I truly love this place
It’s Amazing hope you enjoy it!
They should really get rid of that peninsula they call Florida
Starting to think this guy doesn’t like Florida
Good stuff
Thanks!
Some people put electrical tape over the spool with no mono does that still work or do you have to put mono before braid
The electrical tape works pretty well, if you use electrical tape you won’t need to have the mono and you can just go straight to the braid. The tape or the mono both serve as a surface for the braid to hold to so the line doesn’t slip but you won’t need the mono if you have the electrical tape
@@SlammedOutdoors thank you because I don’t have no old line laying around and I just got my self braided line for my bait caster

I'm from Northern Wisconsin and can't wait to try this rig out. thank you for the video it will help me with trying new ways to fish.
Happy it helped, Hope you catch some fish on it!
What type of water do you have. I'm currently in North Carolina but I live on base so the water sometimes cloudy green. What time do you fish. One thing I'll say tho when using a jig is have a creature bait attach to it. The action really makes a difference
I fish in Ohio and our water clarity is all over the place, most of the places I fish it’s a clear/blue kinda color. The best times to go are typically in the morning or the last couple hours of daylight, in the fall I like to fish mid afternoon since that’s when it’s the warmest. The creature trailers are great, I’ve started using chunk style trailers which have been killing it for me. They don’t have a lot of action but this helps since the fish I’m fishing for are really pressured.
Great video. Just subscribed! The one thing I wish people would explain about the "wiggling spool" is if that wiggle amount is different for every lure weight because if always sounds like people are ignoring the lure weight and just "fixing it" until it stops wiggling. I just upgraded to this from an Abu Garcia Zata and on that reel I would adjust the tension knob until the lure drops slowly. How is this setup different on the Shimano? Does a lighter lure cause different spool rattle than a heavier one? Just wondering how you adjust the tension for the lure weight.
The wiggle amount should be the same for every lure with the Curado DC. The reasoning behind tightening the spool so it doesn’t have any wiggle is to ensure the DC chip in the reel can get the correct casting distance without backlashing. I haven’t personally noticed any difference with rattle between the different lure weights but I have notice a little as you lose line on the spool over time. If you think you’re going to throw lighter baits on your curado I’d recommend maybe tightening the tension knob a little bit past the point where it wiggles or set the brakes to 4 until you get the casting distances dialed in. Thanks for the sub! Hope this explanation helps!
@@SlammedOutdoors so this is what I find confusing though. Do you not adjust the spool tension individually for each lure so that they drop "slow"? If I adjust the spool tension only to the point where the rattle goes away then the lure still drops pretty quickly. My instinct is to tighten it more so that I get a slow drop on the lure but then I'm tightening it considerably more past the point where the spool just stops rattling.
Yea it seems really weird at first, you don’t need to adjust the tension by bait on a Curado if it has the DC chip in it. If you have problems backlashing with it set this way then I’d probably tighten it a little but I haven’t noticed it being a problem. The DC reels are probably the only baitcasting reels like this, It was a weird adjustment when I switched to it also.
@@SlammedOutdoors perfect! That's the answer I was looking for. Man that's such an adjustment for the brain. Up until now it's always "Make sure you readjust your tension knob every time you put a new lure on!"
I still don't get it. If I do it this way I get very little to no distance fishing weightless or light lures
I love my 13 fishing a2, great reel!
I do too, it’s amazing!
