    Loved your video. I have been doing glass, various sorts, for quite a few years but learned a lot from it. I have a few questions. Where did you get your etching stickers. I am having trouble finding any like it. I admired your oval dichroic cut out. When I try to shape a dichroic piece the edges often get messed up, lose the dichroic, whether I grind them dichroic up or (worse) down (as the grinder surface scratches them).

      @@BJEXUM Hi. Its too difficult to say because it depends on microwave wattage, type of mwk. Generally I dont firepolish in mwk. Also I dont full fuse in mwk unless it is something made from frit or small pieces of glass, again for the same reason. However, I know some people use 30% power fuse for a few minutes, then increase to 50% etc but its something you have to play around with. To try to avoid breakages. Hope that helps :)

      Hi Cath. Thanks for your comment. Because the metal is encased in the mwk it is safe. The only reason you cant put metal in a microwave oven normally is because the microwaves bounce off the metal back into the microwave oven itself which is dangerous. In a mwk the mwk absorbs the microwaves to create the heat, they do not pass through the mwk, so do not reach the metal. Hope this helps :)

    These may break or crack due to compatibility issues with the glass. While they are pretty, you might be better off softening the edges in the kiln, than using epoxy resin to hold the pieces together. It's far safer unless you know for certain that the glass is compatible. You should never sell glass that is from incompatible glasses.

    • @ArtsandCraftsTI
      @ArtsandCraftsTI 9 місяців тому

      Hi. Thanks for you comments. Within each individual piece the glass is compatible. I am not sure if you watched all the video but I have not glued them with epoxy, they are all fused. I only use glue for the bails.

      Hi. Thanks for your kind comments. You can put metal inside a microwave kiln and then put in the microwave. The microwave kiln absorbs the microwaves which creates the heat. It does not allow the microwaves to touch the metal in the microwave kiln. However be careful using moulds in a mwk because they can break :)

    Hi. I have have been successfully making hearts using your video techniques and this mold. I found that I needed to hold at 1480 F for 30 minutes to fully melt the glass. Hah, I thought that I was being smart by cutting the mold in half to use only the hearts in the mold. The result was my glass was fried and stuck to the mold. Do you know anything about what happens when the glass is full fused too long ?

    • @ArtsandCraftsTI
      @ArtsandCraftsTI Рік тому

      Hi 120lana. I too have a mold I cut in half. The reason your glass stuck was probably because you did not have enough kiln wash on it. You are correct with your firing schedule. The schedule I have in my description is just for a fire polish not full fuse. Hope this helps :)

      @@ArtsandCraftsTI Thank you. I really love the look of these fused glass beads. I was hoping we had the same wattage so I had a better idea of the time I needed to use in my own microwave kiln but I use a 1,000 watt. Any suggestion as to how much time I should try first?

      @@OleLittleMe If you have the smaller mwk then start at 4 mins. Then its a bit of trial and error because of the different variables eg microwave wattage, kiln size, how cold the kiln is (eg if its the first fuse of the day then its really cold). Good luck :)

      Hi hallo. The pad is actually used for card making and crafts in general so does not contain a special glue. :)

    Can you tell the size on the pendants in the mold to help me find the same size pendant?

      Hi. The hole is 5cm x 3cm and this is a link to the same as mine. I cut mine in half because originally I only had a small kiln. www.slumpys.com/Sales/4-piece-Oval-Cube-Tray-Fusing-Mold Hope it helps :)
