I started playing in 2020 and kept playing consistently for around 2 years, untill the updates started getting too heavy for my phone to handle. Looking back, it was probably a blessing in disguise. When i got a new phone, i immediately downloading sky again and i stopped playing after a few days. It's just empty now, there's no fun little details anymore

It would also help if players could trade cosmetics/props/even emotes. There are some I have from years ago that I don't use anymore but someone else may wish they had.

Many of these comments are very sad to me. I’m so sorry that the intensity and gravity of aspects of the game has ruined it for you all… I had two episodes of burnout-slash-having to focus on other things in life outside of the game, and returning to Sky felt just as nice each time. I started on Switch during the Season of Abyss, came back for a little of Performance, and now Moomin. The things I missed in the middle are a shame, and I love a lot of those cosmetics… but participating in the Discord community has given me motivation to find other ways of appreciating the game. For context, my background is in Flower and Journey, and the experiences I had in those games are what I aim to enjoy in Sky as a solo player. I can’t afford to buy every cosmetic I like, and I can’t always justify season passes, and even finding time to candle-run isn’t always feasible for me. So I just don’t. Or I do it in phases, keeping an eye on what’s coming up and saving in-game where I can. I think I’m at peace with not always being able to participate BECAUSE the main game is still there. I’m always finding little details I missed, emoting to npc’s as if they’re players, enjoying the roleplay-aspect of solo-play (which I know isn’t for everyone, but is definitely a part of the magic). Just doing what feels fun and genuine in the moment and leaving the rest. My play-style doesn’t forgive the issues, of course: bugs that need addressing, overpricing in every aspect, season timing, the lack of main-game lore. I want these things fixed and expanded on too, absolutely. But in the mean time, I try to pop in now and then to enjoy the quiet and the magic that still exists that won’t disappear just because there are things to purchase in the background. Sky feels like an expansion of Journey, and every other part is just a bonus. TL;DR: I try to combat game FOMO by cultivating as much wonder and curiosity as I can.

ME AND MY MOM HAD SIMILAR THOUGHTS. he used to play every night bc we liked being able to play a cute game together, but the events and seasons would happen so close together that it just became exhausting to us. we haven't touched the same in a couple years and honestly, we probably won't be able to pick it back up again due to how much has happened since then.

Played since season of dreams, quitted after the end of the little prince, and came back just a while ago. Yes the break was very long and i didn't regret anything tbh. The old me was grinding like hell and would be mad of all the cosm i lost. But now it's a new start : i forgot cr route, lost some friends but still gift them, enjoying sceneries, relieve seasonal spirits that i missed, never cared what ts is coming and saving up candles. Honestly that break was necessary for me bcs i start to enjoy the game again and i hope yall does too

i just returned a few days ago. this video can't have been recommended to me at a better time. I was a 2021 player. A friend who went overseas recommended it to me so it became a way to connect with said friend. We grinded a LOT. EVERY SINGLE DAY. I became somewhat of an expert after a while and started to guide her and our growing group of friends. But then, as life caught up on us and even lost our connection (said friend no longer even replies to me), I quit. The story was also something I was confused at first. Coz I thought it was an original world with a system of its own, so the Prince collab was a bit off coz it suddenly felt like it hyperaware of the real world, which brought me out of the immersion. The Aurora season further brought me out from it, coz I felt like I really need to have money to to be successful in this game. Back then, I didn't even realized that the things raised in this video were issues. I just thought that its an issue I had since I barely play games aside from sky. I thought this "grind" was a norm for "gamers" so I felt that maybe this "gamer grind-life" is not for me. Same with the IAPs, since I have no other games to compare it with I thought the IAPs were sonewhat of a notm for games like this and that the game really just has an aspect which is above my paygrade and economic status 😂. And as I have mentioned, I just returned to the latter end of the season of Moomin. Same old issues I guess, just with no friends this time to make it a bit more bearable. I still like the game. But now I realized that I need not try and aim for everything else just get what I absolutely want coz the game is not accommodating enough to let me have them all😅. I just wonder, if me an adult who earns a wage, feels like this what about the kids that play the game who have no access and priviledge to their parents money feel like. Sucks to be a child in this game I guess😅

I think the honest truth is that the ONLY reason this game isn't dead already is becaue they have staggered its launch on the different platforms, with only Xbox left to go, which they are going to HAVE to do soon! If they don't change the format of this game considerably along with attention to its performance then it dies about a year, two tops, afer that! I just don't understand the management of this company/game! On the one hand they are clearly focused on the IAPs but then are SEVERELY restrictive with the items in their Store (Pins and Plushies)! Its like they are half arsing everything instead of just prioratising one thing and doing it well!

The grind is literally the reason why I've quit after 2 ish years of playing, there is nothing else to do, other than dying in the eden once in a while.

When I heard TGC hired a big name person from Disney 👀, I knew something was up. When you hire someone like that who has worked in a high level position in any organization for a long time, they WILL bring that stuff with them 9/10. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 10 years, you'll know that Disney's direction and monetization in EVERYTHING they do is out of control. From the cost of a ticket into the theme park to the disaster of a MILESTONE MOVIE, WISH, meant to encapsulate the magic of Disney since their founding in 1923, 100 YEARS! I was hoping that this change would help bring TGC the much needed resources and direction they needed, but it instead seems to have accelerated the already out of control issues. I hope they change and fast, as their animation series will bring more eyes to their game as the Cyberpunk Edge-runners series did; giving Cyberpunk 2077 a second life. This was only possible due to the time and dedication put into fixing and optimizing the game as it was riddled with even more bugs than Sky. If TGC doesn't get their but's in high gear it could very well end of service Sky or at the very least create an entirely different game with an entirely different player base, and if that's the case, is it even fair to call it Sky: Children of the Light anymore?

Yeah fk this game respectfully. I like to socialize and allat but they give and takeaway events and spirits and than if you haven’t been grinding months before than you’re basically fked, cuz candles and hearts and any currency seem scarce. Can’t even buy have if the shit they showcase

I with over 300h in the game (not much since i barely play it anymore, nor candle run) and i'd say that the movement in general is quite clunky
