Welcome to my garage! This channel is designed to show people some of my hobbies and things I enjoy to do! It’s a mixture of wrenching on ON-ROAD & OFF-ROAD cars, trucks, and bikes. & also going stupid fast!
Fixing Problems With My Duramax After The Last Few Brutal Events..
After the last few events in the S369 Duramax, we had found some weak links in the motor and suspension. During the burnout competition, we shredded the water pump, blew a intercooler boot, & had a lot of fuel lines decide they weren’t about that life anymore. After making some changes, we tried dirt drag racing! We quickly learned that 22x12 wheels and 4x4 launches were not the move. After building up the front end, it still wasn’t enough to keep things from moving around. My centerlink had rolled during staging and launching causing all 4 of my control arms to slide way out of alignment till they couldn’t go any further. We since then swapped out the water pump (you need to see what it looked like after I pulled it out) and replaced it with a solid one from DHD. We also slap on some front end bracing after an alignment to THEORETICALLY prevent the centerlink from rolling again, causing the front end to move around during boosted launches. There are a few more problems we come across and a few we haven’t yet fixed but are on the list! Make sure to comment and subscribe to let me know what you think of the videos and what all you would like to see out of the channel, & also never miss a new upload! I love hearing feedback from my viewers and I appreciate you all for tunning in to the channel! Have a great day everyone! I go to the dirt drags for the first time and am bringing you with me! I’ve spent months building this truck to be able to do burnout competitions, dirt & track racing plus some sled pulls, along with being a slick daily driver. It’s been so much work to get it this far and we’re slowly finding the weak links with each competition I take it to so far. But it’s only going to make this thing so m...

My first time in a burnout pit! I’m beyond stoked to finally be able to get into a pit and bring you guys along for the ride! This is my first time trying to record an event like this let alone trying some burnouts in one. I hope you like it and we can do plenty more of these in the future together! There’s burnouts, dyno runs and dirt drags! Plenty to enjoy! If you haven’t seen the Duramax bui...

Welcome back! Since the last truck video, the injectors came out of the truck and got sent off to be tested after suspecting a few were failing. Pretty much half of them failed testing which led me to buying a new set from a different company. I quickly throw them in the truck, change out the wheels and go immediately into “testing”. Definitely some content you don’t want to miss & there’s much...

We finally get to test out how fast this s300 Duramax is! On the last video of us trying this, things didn’t go as planned. We had some major fuel leaks almost instantly within the first few rips and didn’t get to really test out much. I had finally got it to stay together enough to do some good solid rips and burnouts! Brooo where is the episode 3 ??????
I’ve actually had it done for a while now 😅 I’ve been working on a lot of customers vehicles & buying vehicles to flip so that’s been taking up a lot of my time. After the first of the year my schedule should be clearing up so I’ll throw up a video shortly after all that! Thanks for following along, we’ll get an updated video up!
The vz21 turbo can’t be used as a draw threw it doesn’t have a carbon seal it’s a ring type it will just suck oil my set up is a blow threw turbo pit bike works fine don’t smoke
I thought about changing it to a blow through set up just for the simplicity. but I had a carbon seal installed hoping that will help with the oil problem. It’s slightly better so far but still not making very much boost if any at all and still pushing a little bit of oil. Almost done with the new set up since the last video, and hope I can get this one close to dialed in and on the next bike, do a blow through set up.

Cool looking build. Im no rocket scientist but im not sure you need to pressurize the fuel tank/carb, since the turbo is pulling from the carb. You will likely just need to tune the carb with bigger jets. Pressurizing the bowl the way it is will just make it run to rich in my opinion. From my knowledge you only need to pressurize the bowl of the carb When the turbo is pushing the boost through the carb. (Carb placement between turbo and engine) because then you'll want to equalize the pressure.
Damn , how far from Cleveland ?? In the burbs about 20 mins south of . Dig the chucks , i rock a black pair of lows , lol .
Smokes like a Ford.
But way faster 🤣 haha
Great videos
Thanks! Trying to get better at this with every video
Like mine one thing after another lol .. like other day went out to look inside intercooler boots and the boot clamp broke . Something small but just example something always breaks on these Mfs
That’s right man! Gotta pay to play
Hope that DHD kit treats you good! From your videos looks like your rotors have seen a whole bunch of heat💨! Expect them cracks over time. Lol
Yessir me too! & yeah that makes sense why it’s only the backs that have cracked. lol just part of it until we get a line lock set up for it!
I like the way you push your truck and find the weak points. My neighbor's always think my truck is broken. I tell them just upgrades 😅. Never ending. Co workers.tell me your gonna break your truck. Yup. All the time. Great video, people will never know the money, time and the pain it takes to do this.
Dude you ain’t kidding about the neighbor and co worker situation 😂 looks like that’s all we ever get done is working on it over and over! Haha but thank you man I appreciate it, hoping to have something that will be a solid competitor come next year! This is just the beginning!
Drilled and slotted crack at the holes it’s pretty common. I’d stick to slotted only or just standard rotors
Oh okay I had no idea about that. Thanks for that!
Subbed .
Yes .
Have you tried towing with it yet?
I have but not really a tow pig anymore, hauls dirtbikes around and has a gooseneck ball but sooner or later the bed will just be bed sides and be the one being hauled on a trailer to events lol
There’s a big group of us that race that was there any time you wanna hang out and bullshit holler at us we just chase koi around 😂
That sounds like a plan!
Damn that front end 😮😢
Look up DHD front end bracing kit . Even with tie rod ends the center link will roll and cause a hard toe and torque steer. DHD center link brace with roller bearing a front chunk brace run it on my truck and love dirt drag racing with the guys you ran with KOI dirt drags Lewis is a awesome guy . Turn your keys down as well want at minimum a level cv angle if possible. A t negative CV angle is best if possible.
Thanks for that info! I think that would be the route to go forsure, along with more adjustments like you said on getting better angles
@@SlapDi.KSpeedShop yes sir! Another huge advantage if you haven’t already got one is a manual lock up box for your converter. I’m not sure what trans or converter your running but with a 369 I’m sure your converter is a little loose DHD lock box is the way to go have them on 6 trucks that we have been dirt dragging and sled pulling for years and they have worked wonders and have never had an issue with them not locking when telling it too.
@@joshjolley2675 thanks that is definitely on the list! It does have a goerend converter with I want to say 2,100 stall maybe and built trans with 750 hp clutches. I’ll probably need a 3k stall or so for the s480 but definitely lockup switch before we get to all that. Thanks for all the helpful info!
Also if your looking for a good engine builder check out Evan berry and Danny Baird with Baird racing engines had motors built by both of them and were awesome motors and were in trucks with big air fuel and spray and they ate everything thrown at them. Enjoy your content looking forward to watching your trucks progression !
@@joshjolley2675when driving when do you or gear I want to lock it in ?
That's what happens when you abuse the f@ck out of your vehicle... Nothing more money can't fix!
Amen
@@SlapDi.KSpeedShop good video though, I was entertained.
Stock fuel?
Dual cp3’s & 100 over injectors with a airdog 165gph
Nice reg cab.Get a fleece tap shifter or bd tap shifter better for burnouts and roll racing it helps with spool. put one in my 03 lb7 back in the day. I got a 1013rwhp fuel only crewcab that weighs 6500lbs deweighted. She got a s480/87/1.25 on her with aftermarket heads. Bunch of other stuffff.
👌🏼
Rds is pure junk had a 64 9blade for maybe 4k miles and it exploded the compressor wheel , putting a s366 on as we speak
How much money for the cp3 , Injectors ?
What kind of boost are you seeing out of the turbo?
I just hooked up a manual gauge and haven’t tested it out yet to see its full potential. I will be having another video out after I send the trans out, comparing the s300 to a s400 and the boost we can push out of both. Should be a sweet video! Stay tuned
@@SlapDi.KSpeedShop just curious, having a problem with my lb7, custom drop in with big s300 internals, 100 overs and dual fueler setup and truck is just lazy and only makes 35, tuner is goin crazy trying to figure it out
@@kylesmits3418 man I had that same problem almost and my truck would just cloud out an entire interstate trying to drive it normal, then my brand new drop in 68mm turbo exploded soon after and once I did a s300 swap even with the 68mm tunes in it, completely changed how it was acting and fixed all those problems. As long as you’ve got solid data logs and your tuner cant see anything wrong then it might be something along those lines. But from what I’ve heard there’s a lot of tuners that have trouble tuning for dual fueler set ups.
How would stock intercooler pipes work
They would work just fine
@@SlapDi.KSpeedShop I would have to get diff boot for hot side or something to fit the charge r
@@cody6.6max yeah the boot needs to be slightly larger diameter to go onto the turbo and with my pipes, going with the offset boot helped out tremendously. But maybe the ones from HSP weren’t bent totally correct I’m not sure but it made it a breeze going back together rather than ratchet strapping it to hold it where it needed to be
I do not think the turbo is bad. They do not flow alot at all, especially when they are cold and oil is cold. But the main thing is they are NON sealed journal bearings(?) they will always leak a little. You have the turbo in the vacuum side of the circuit. That is where you are pulling in the air so it wont idle and where the oil is coming from. That smoke is from oil being sucked into the intake and going through combustion chamber. Good luck. I have no oil restrictions besides tubing length on a gy6 and I burn no oil, but carb is between turbo and intake.
I think we’re finally getting somewhere. Haven’t messed with it a whole lot lately but since the carbon deal was installed after that video, it seems to be doing a lot better. Also with changing the oil return and building a plenum I think we’re on the right track. Thank for the comment!
You should definitely get a line lock 🔐
Hey good minds think alike! Haha line lock installation will be in the next video preparing for UCC 💪
5 inch straight out the back behind the rear wheel is hands down the best way to run it.
That’s kinda what I was thinking. Getting it ordered! 🙌
Excuse me sir but what turbo is that and where did you get it from?
VZ21. I believe it’s a snowmobile turbo and I got it off eBay. Since the video, I sent it out to a machine shop and had a carbon seal installed to help with pulling oil through the compressor side of the turbo. since it’s a draw through set up and was creating a vacuum
The reason why you can't power up your accessory is because the stator that you have is not generating power. It's only generating spark, generating 12 volts off the stator will require another stator which you can get easily off of eBay then you'll need to regulate the power as well
Took care of both of those things so by the next video, hopefully all is good and we have power to the gauge!
Ok I'm late to the party but 1st you should switch to a blow through set up. Then you simply put a boost referenced fuel pressure regulator between the electric fuel pump and the carb and set it up to add pressure 1:1 for lbs of boost + needed at the carb fuel pressure. So if your engine needs 5lbs of fuel pressure and you generate 2lbs of boost then you need to feed the carb 7lbs of fuel pressure. get it? Next, these small engines were never meant to feed oil to anything but the engine. You need an external sump with both an electric feed pump and an electric scavenge pump to send the oil back to the sump. End of problems! PS. You need to have the oil pump come on before you start the engine up as there needs to be oil in the turbo before it starts spinning, otherwise even a couple of seconds of dry run will pooch your turbo!
Sounds good. Nice build
Thank you!
Nice bubba . U familiar with the p0089 code ??
I had the problem when I first started the truck after the first build and it wasn’t tuned to my dual fueler set up so it was running double psi and throwing that code. A quick tune and all was good
why don’t my s300 sound like this
why is your boost capped at 23psi?
My monitor is only picking up to 23lbs but it’s definitely pushing well past that. I will be installing a boost gauge maybe in the next video and we will see what it’s actually running at
My lly does the same thing with my cts3 edge monitor having to just put a boost gauge those things are iffy about some of the pids
New videos coming soon?
Yes!! Stay tuned 😎
did you ever find out what killed the 68mm?
No, I will send it off and have it rebuilt then hopefully know what caused the failure. I would like to do a give away with it or something once it’s rebuilt, hate to have it just sit on the shelf forever
Why you shifting it like if it makes a difference 😂let it shift itself 🤦🏻♂️
The pressurised tank and carb isnt required for draw theough, the extra air that the turbo consumes draws extra fuel naturally.
It’s been a big learning curve trying to pull this off and I want to thank you for sharing information like this! Since the video I’ve basically scratched the entire set up I’ve had and sent the turbo off to have a carbon seal installed along with putting together everything I’ve learned about it so far. So on the next video it will be a new set up and we will get it dialed in! Thanks again for interest and good info! Keep watching for the new build!
The duramax content is great 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
Stock fuel?
Lly pump in the valley with lbz dual fueler kit, 165 gph lift pump, and exergy 100% overs
Hmmm try to put a Garett GT06 turbo inside instead
If you want it to actually make power you need to convert the carb to blow through and make a large chamber in the charge tube to hold pressurized air. Single cylinder engines have to have a a decent volume of air available via a large tank or chamber or else the intake stroke sucks all the pressurized air out of the charge tube and there is no exhaust pulse to keep the turbo building boost.
Once the turbo gets back from the machine shop we should be able to get it dialed in with some of the things you’re talking about. We are keeping draw through set up but Changing up the entire set up!
The Car and Driver award for roadkill goes to this guy
Your oil is probably backing up in the return because you've put the pipe in the bottom of the clutch cover casing. Block it off and make it higher, then it can return. Also a draw-through carb needs no pressurisation.
Thanks for the feedback, we will have it dialed in soon! Once parts get back from the machine shop we’ll have a new video on it and hopefully have all those issues fixed like you said.
hey man I love the build and I would like to do this to my supermoto. I have a 2007 with a 125cc engine can you reply with the links to all of the parts that you used?. Thanks
Thanks! It’s definitely still a work in progress, so once I get everything figured out, I’ll have a video showing all the things I’ve used. Thanks for the interest in the build! We’ll have a new video for it soon
Honestly didn’t have the patience to watch 75% of the video. What turbo did you use? VZ21?
Yes VZ21, it’s in the machine shop right now getting a carbon seal installed. & I am working on getting better at what to record so it’s not so boring lol thanks for the feedback though
@@SlapDi.KSpeedShop thanks for the reply. I’ll be following this build as I’m wanting to do one myself with my high compression 140cc engine. I’ve had a vz21 in my eBay cart for about 2 years now and just haven’t pulled the trigger because I keep seeing the builds fail or never get finished on UA-cam.
I totally get it man. We’re gonna learn how to make it happen and this one will be finished! Thanks for following along!
