The Rebellion Way - Bikepacking - Day 3
Переглядів 945Рік тому
is a 232-mile/373km cycling adventure around Norfolk. Meandering along a mix of quiet, mostly flat back roads, byways, cycle paths and bridleways under huge panoramic skies, it’s a fantastic introduction to multi-day, on- and off-road adventuring for anyone. The name comes from the fact that, while this ancient county is now characterised by a relaxed, timeless, pastoral charm, it has a fascina...

Surrey Hills Classic - Cycling - Box Hill, Leith Hill & More

In my search for a new fitness hobby I figured I'd give cycling a go, or maybe it's a midlife crisis? With dreams of attempting a long ride like London to Paris or Land's End To John O'groats. Signing up to a cycling sportive, like this, seemed a good idea to see where my fitness was after spending the winter on the indoor turbo trainer using Zwift. Join me as I take part in The Surrey Hills Cl...

The Tas Valley Way Join Stuart and myself as we hike & camp this little known trail through South Norfolk. No chatting nonsense in this episode, just a chilled one. A decent trail which can be broken into 2 days with a stay at Chesnuts campsite (1 or 2 miles off the route). It ended up being a bit of a church pilgrimage 🤣 Lots planned this summer, so stay tuned. Hey man, planning on doing the C2C summer this year. Looks like a nice kit I'll certainly be heavier! That app looks great for finding shops etc. I did the Cumbria way and took food with me which weighed me down a lot.
Very helpful. Thanks
Merhaba Is it necessary to obtain border permits along the hiking trail?
2 questions: is there any need to bring a sleep sack or bag and what outlet charger is required?
How is the guide book relative to the route? And the water situation? Did you filter water or just buy/tap?
what time of year??
Another wonderful video and just what i am looking for. I completed 3 Caminos in Spain this year so this is going to be amazing. How is the language barrier?
Wonderful video and finally the first where you stay in guest accommodations. I am doing this in June 2025. What time of year was this? Did you always pre book rooms ahead of time? How was cell service? Do most places take a credit card or mainly cash? Moving on to your part 2.
What time of year did you do this?
Just watched all episodes, great stuff - could you provide a link/list to all the guesthouses you used??
Thank you, your hiking videos from WHW have been one of those, inspiring and motivating me to walk the WHW by myself. Thank you and greetings from Poland.
Youve sold me on this route. Ive done the pedders way. And its my 50th next year so rebellion way is definitely on the cards
Of all the Cape Wrath series I've seen, this is by far the best and perhaps the only one that accurately portrays just how hard this trail is. It's a pity you have to take the bog route to view that waterfall.
Great video I watched this before booking the 2025 edition - thanks! By the way Darren - you might want to check your HR zones. All your stats are skewed much higher than normal. 1hr in zone 5 and 2.5hr in zone 4 is extremely rare if not impossible for anyone but top level athletes (no disrespect to you).
Glad to see plenty of pubs so far on this trail, unlike that dastardly Ridgeway.
Third time watching this series, very watchable style Darren, proving invaluable in planning my own (2026) top stuff.
Lol. Just my tend weighed 3kg.
This is Brillant thank you!
Very useful, thank you.
Missing your stuff mate. Anything planned coming up soon?
There's no maybe not. That IS Mont Blanc, was surprised you didn't pickup on it on the ascent. Wow you cover some miles, I was 3 days to here and finished physically
I think, I've developed some summer plans. Lovely video I found it really calming too.
The small berries are the wild sort, you need more time to collect them but they are double money worth. All fruits are small in this forrests, bcs theyre wild sort. I love the wild strawberries apples and wild forrest berries😋
Men youre brave to walk pass those cows so close🙈 those mountains are my 2nd home and im most afraid of cows there
😃 You went on one of the best hikings trails in europe, you need to be healty and also a little bite fit to can do it. But its a huge experience and you grow there! I know to find fruits and food, i have a good knowledge in the mountains and forrest, but im not a guide. Its a rough teritory and you believe or not, you beed calmness and patience in this area! You have to become one with the surrounding and everything opens up, you start understanding everything. 😊
I like your videos and a great load out video but as a UA-cam influencer I think it’s irresponsible to be carrying so little safety equipment you could easily get into trouble if you hurt yourself or the weather turned bad, I’m a very experienced mountain leader and and it seems to much emphasis is placed of light weight instead of safety, rant over
More please! This one is historically important regarding response to COVID lockdowns.
Whitedown is savage! Very well done
This video is solid gold! Looks like a great time.
Have just got back from doing this trip, it's really nice watching these videos after experiencing it in person! We got some mega thunder and lightning between Plav and Vusanje at around 2000m, so hearing the thunder in the video brought back some flashbacks. We also stopped at that house in Balqin! The woman was very friendly and welcoming
Im watching this on a sunny August morning, and feel depressed about whats coming......months of cold, overcast wet dreary days.☹️
Did they check your border pass or was it just the fee?
I dont think they check the documents, you sound foreign they know you hike. Mabe they write your name down for the case you get lost....
Planning my walk do you still recommend maps me for navigation? Pete
Any more videos planned Darren? These are the best walking vids on UA-cam.
Have really been enjoying these videos. My partner and I are doing the trail in a few weeks so its been great to see what it looks like and what to expect!
Great effort mate, you smashed it. Fantastic videos and really enjoyed watching your adventures. Subbed and looking forward to watching more. 👏⛰️
Hi Darren, great to watch this as I’ll be doing this in September. Can I ask which Rab hoody you’re wearing? Is it the Rab Sonic Hoody? Thanks
My first time on tmb I skipped all the high variants. Had to go back next year to them. Fenetre d arpette was amazing hike.
Great video thanks Are there grocery stores along the way?
Hi DC, hope you're doing well? Are you going to be releasing any new content this year ? Thanks Ben
How do they know the times to display on sign boards because people move at different paces?
Fair play, good call. Gotta harden the feet before tackling the tough trails. And dont get new shoes! Haha EPIC EFFORT mate --- thank you. Its now on my list, via low route
Wow! Wonderfully shot and edited Darren. That new shoe thing - had it on Peddars Way! March on!
You made it look relatively easy, but that was a bloody hard days walking mate! Fair play and thanks for taking us along. 👏
Where did you get the socks from mate? (The ones with the toes)
Hi DC, we really enjoy watching your walks. Any videos planned soon? Cheers, Chris
I know this was from a few years ago but just watching it in preparation of doing this walk. Good to see plenty of camping spots Cheers. Deserving of more subscribers.
Great advice
hi darren love the uploads, i live in chichester...and hail originally from middlesbrough...so i loved the coast 2 coast...however due to vast over popualation along the south coast..i find the scenery nice in some locations...mainly east sussex and kent..having walked a lot myself but its so far off anywhere the beauty of east anglia or the yorks dales/pennines/lake district...my most i enjoyed was the remoteness of the thames estuary side of the isle of grain...opposite tilbury..its has its beauty but its not a national park...i would like to do the cotswolds way or the malvern hills ets one day...but i take great enjoyment in watching yourself as a lover of these beautiful country/coastal walks..keep it up..kevin
Thanks Darren. Great series. What time of year did you do this? Looks like you avoided the midges.
