Thanks, for comprehensive informations in this video! How do I know the plaster lath wall has asbestos in it?

I use a sawzaw with metal blade to cut through the lathe in the corners. It's no fun any way you cut it.

Angle grinder a much better option. You'll blow through blades with an oscillating tools.

wow, looks like you've been busy. An idea on the crooked pipe, method I've used is to heat with a heat gun and bend straight, better than the boot coupling. you sure have a lot of plumbing in that big house.

Wow - that house must of been freezing in the winter time. No insulation... no vapor barrier.. just the exterior siding.

Why was metal mesh added with plaster walls? We have this covering our whole basement ceiling and need to remove it all so we can get the entire ventilation system replaced.. all these videos are making me want to cry seeing what’s needed to get this done lol

Hi Matt: Looks good so far. I understand where you are, In building new houses it's the same. First phases of framing and getting under roof go fast, at end of day you look back and feel "wow". During interior and finish work, you look back and wonder, "what did I do today". I grinned when you said " finish trim after moving in". 35 years later, my trim aint done, lol.

Nice, I've been thinking about using wagos on my new shop wiring, never used before, but more expensive. Just never use the back stabs on recepticals. They are just asking for trouble. I usually don't pig tail wires to recepticals either, just connect all on screw terminals, but it is easier to get all the wire shoved back in with pigtails. Also I never bother with 14 ga. just run it all with 12, but dang, can't believe the cost of wire, the last roll of 12 I bought was like $25. been awhile. I hope I have enough wire left from those old days to finish my project. Most of my new shop wiring will be thhn in emt. external boxes, not to penetrate the wall membrane, external raceway to customize wiring for future.

Well Done. That spray foam is nice, should really seal things up as well as insulate. Wondering how you will do electrical on thin walls, armorflex/greenfield? or could just fir out to make thicker walls. You going to do the drywall? I've done plenty, but it's hard and slow for non drywall guys. If in budget, the pros can finish whole project before you can get a room done. Another episode of This Old House. thanks for posting.

Good stuff, it's cool to see the house taking shape bit by bit with each video. Same with the beard growth lol. By Christmas time you might be able to be moonlight as the mall Santa.

Just a hint, keep those spade bits sharp, file often at original angles. I do so alot, really helps pushing that bit through. especially once you hit a nail.

you've sure been destructive. Glad you're going with spray foam in those thin wall and all the irregular spaces. Wondering though about will it stick to the siding and cause problems if you remove it. except for painting that old siding, if in good condition is hard to beat, and yuck on plastic siding.

Progress looks good. I had to laugh about the crowbar accident, since you're trained in anything from hand to hand combat probably through strategic nukes, but not crowbars. Hope the bad guys don't find out about crowbar attack's, lol. Nice tool you have there, one tool I don't have, I'd probably use a right angle grinder with a cut-off wheel, but would be messy and a little dangerous.

Nice man! Action shots! I like the sped up footage. Don’t put Lincoln park in your videos or UA-cam will hook you right up with your first copyright strike! You might look at doing a voiceover on your videos instead of trying to talk through a respirator. I use voiceover all the time in my videos.

After awhile, you'll forget you even have a beard, once it grows out to a certain length, it'll stop curling around and bothering you. Never figured out why people scrape the hair from their faces anyways. Looks like you are progressing in the demolition well. Great idea on the chute.

Have you considered in some locations, furring out walls, with foam board insulation, a little tricky around doors and windows, just requiring a little creativity.

wow, nice house. Rather an ambitious project you have in mine. We started tearing out lath and plaster in oak street house. After one room, I think dad gave up that idea, quite a big and nasty job. But I know you can do it. uncle Barry

Cussing and bleeding only makes it more realistic.

That's the way it's done Matt. Cussing and bleeding are normal for that work. Should be ok for this late in year, but keep watch on creosote buildup. I like to put sheet metal screws in joints, really don't want to come apart with a fire burning.
