FERRANIA SOLARIS | LEICA M2 | FILM PHOTO WALK IN TOKYO

Took a two day walk with Ferrania Solaris, which seems to have some folklore to it . Mine was expired for about 10 years or so. To me it seems a little grainy. I shot this roll at about 50 iso. Overall I like the results and the colors seem nice. I left it up to you to interpret for yourself on this one, but feel free to hit me up in the comments if you have questions! What exactly has a 6X9 cm Japanese Medium format rangefinder has anything to do with Leica??? How about Olympus RC, RD, etc, how about that wannabe Leica Fuji X100? Surely they have more resemblance to a Leica than this monster. Any excuse just to bring the Leica name into the conversation? Just call the dam n thing by its name and give it the respect it deserves by making some decent photos with it, please.
The GW690III has dual strap lugs on one side which makes it even easier to carry if you attach both straps to that one side then carry it over your shoulder and let it hang down vertically rather than around your neck. Substantially easier to work with that way.
The majority of this video is footage of you walking around.
Fantastic!
I’ve had many many hours of fun with this camera in Tokyo too! ☺️
For the night shots on a tripod you can use the timer shooting option on the Botton of the camera. So it won't move. ;)
Very nice photos!
I am what I would call an enthusiastic amateur photographer. In my years of what I’d call “serious” photography, the 1970’s, especially the years 1973 - ‘79, I took what I considered my best pictures. These were pictures taken at rock concerts. FOR MYSELF ONLY! I MADE NO MONEY FROM THESE IMAGES.
This guy's cringe at best, no respect for the location or people. Gives us photographers a bad rap, and his 'snaps' are just that. Music was nice though.
Fantastic work ❤
Thank you!
beautiful brother!
Thanks man! Had to post something, it's been so long!
This has some classic Brett Novak vibes, and I love it! Expected a skater to pop out of the crowd.
Thanks man! Ngl had to look him up, but glad I did!
@@CLOCKCOUNTRY glad to have introduced him to you.
Beautiful work!
Thank you Phil!
Your videos are some of best on UA-cam. Too bad you stopped.😢
THE TOKYO LEICA 100% 🩷🇯🇵
I recall repeatedly following Bronicas for sale on eBay 20 or so years ago. Boy, do I ever wish I'd spring for one back then, when I could have had one a LOT cheaper. Ever adjusting for inflation.
Isn't there a tab you could buy for that aperture ring?
Gesticulating is irritating !!!
The manual tells you to turn off the T mode by advancing the shutter speed to the next one rather than advancing the film or it will cause failure to the leaf shutter.
I'm a Canon shooter but will not be selling my X100F anytime soon. Can't beat the joystick and D Pad sorely missing on the newer models.
What a beautiful story
"Godzilla"
Big time line cook energy, love it
Very nicely framed shorts! I love all of them 👌😎 makes me want to look for a GW in case I cannot find the GF670 I am looking for 😅
Never really understood why the fuji was called the Texas Leica. If anything it should have been the mamiya 7. It's head and shoulders above the fuji in pretty much every aspect, quality wise the mamiya is closer to the Leica. Although size I would say is smaller than the fuji
I thought changing time also closes aperture on Fuji (but also risks bumping it but perhaps less than moving the film with advance lever).
Lovely photos! I'm so wanting to buy a Fuji (or two to get wide angle as well as normal :) Medium format quality is always so nice (with the price tag of large film too).
My neighborhood!! If you see another bronica guy in Asagaya, it might be me.
This was the first video I watched of yours, Andrew, and it's still great after all these years. I hope you're well and that maybe we'll all get to see some more videos from you some day soon.
This video made me tired. You remind me of Fred Armisen if he was really sleepy.
this whole video is so greatly underrated, the music and production is so good. its crazy how art like this can go so unrecognized for so long, absolutely love this and the concept of not taking photos but rather you already have them and are finding where they're from and going on a small journey to find all the locations. 10/10 video
Wow! Thanks for the comment! Yeah I should get out and make some more soon!
great work!!!! dear I want to make a question: I am undecided between this gw690 and the gl690...I don't know which is better!!! don't you feel limitated with a fixed lens? I am afraid to feel that I don't know.... an advise
im curious how you would rate epson v600 (i have also one), to the technique of scanning with camera? I mostly use medium format and the mos important is dynamic range for me. And unfortunately i dont have fuji50R as from you camera scanning video, but maybe mine canon 5d mark II is better than your second cheaper camera on that video.
I really don't like the epson v600, but I don't think it's the right time for me to invest in a mirrorless scanning set up as I don't shoot much film these days. The film prices are far too expensive.
that's true unfortunately, the prices of films are too expensive! I was just curious and asking which has better results v600 or fuji50R / full frame digital camera scanning method? @@CLOCKCOUNTRY
how much did you pay for it? you found it in some popular shop, or some hidden gem shops in japan? Btw if you wonder why you had so washout shadows in interior photos, is because kodak gold when is underexposed even -1ev the shadows goes like that. Portra can handle this -1ev better. But good exposure mean 0ev or slightly overexpose to +2ev with kodak gold will be good i suppose, cheers! p.s i noted the book photographs not taken, i think i stumble upon it earlier. sounds interesting p.s.2 haha.. later i figure the owner of makina its not you, then to you, colors of the video and music montage it was nice to look at, very chill but also with some tips kind of video! -- im curious what camera and lens did you use to film it?
Thanks for watching! Yes the camera is not mine, but it is a camera I have wanted to own since I first learned about them. As for tips, I didn't really know anything about the camera. I film my UA-cam videos on a Canon c70.
I think i stumble upon them earlier, but just now realize how nice lens it got, and probably its not so heavy weight - great for travel camera as a 6x7 :))@@CLOCKCOUNTRY
Fabulous! What a great way to show those images 😊
This is a masterpiece. So well done and different. 👌🏾👏🏾🔥
Finally, someone who is calling out the borderline appropriatively racist 'Texas Leica' nickname that all the sheep people give it, that totally undermines the Japanese effort and origination of it. The nickname completely erases Japan. Mind boggles. Personally, I call it Godzilla's Leica.
This is amazing !!!
Thank you!
Love to see a photowalk indeed, love the images! Planning on finding a good one today 🤞 and starting to learn the 6x6 square composition challenge 😎 Is it different then an RB67 for you? I got one with the 127mm and find it sometimes a bit to "tele", the 75mm i mean and the use in general?
where can i get one of those Clock
Really beautiful and sensitive work of this topic.❤️😘
Thanks a lot 😊
You're so weird I love it
Haha thanks i guess.
Absolutely wonderful piece. Well done.
Beautifully shot!
Thanks man! Means a lot coming from someone like you!
Great work Andrew and for a great cause!
Thank you John!
Bought my GRIIIX a couple months ago, extremely impressed with the quality of the files, I bought the JJC attachment to allow a filter to be attached and seals the lens from dust getting in as I heard that can be an issue. The image stabilization I think is just 3 stops though it’s also a leaf shutter which should increase effect of that 3 stops. I really enjoy the process of using this camera very pleased with it. Only real issue I have is the teeny tiny battery and charge😆
Top notch
Really great work! I have a roll in the fridge - strangely a 12 exposure roll? Not sure why they produced such a sort roll. Looking forward to shooting it when the sun returns
Whoa. Killer concept, and well executed. Love both the photos and the loving subversion of the film photography bts genre. I didn't know I needed film stocks to be overviewed in thematically relevant short film format, but now it's all I know for certain in this world.
