I have a 2012 Tucson . I don’t know if the elantra is set up the same as mine but real quick just look under the steering wheel. Near the obdII plug you will see a wiring just kind of dangling that has a small button on it. Press the button.

Do you have the diagram for the installation?

They are drilling out the door locks. The car thinks the drill bit is a key, they get in your car crack the column start the car and drive away. Upgrade is worthless.

Do they install a key fab with the upgrade?

Can easily break the window, slide in without opening the door, break your ignition cylinder and still start your car…. No “upgrade” is a sufficient substitute for not having an immobilizer 👍

Hi the update does work… my 2021 Hyundai Tucson SE was stolen after the update, and yes the door was looked. They drilled a hole into my door and got in then stole my car.

My car got stolen even with the update. Lol im thankful i have gps tracker device.

I had. It put on and I think they stole it faster.

I went to the Hyundai dealership last year for my so-called software upgrade but all they did was change the ignition inside the steering column. I asked about the alarm system and kill switch, and the guy said that Hyundai "never" said anything about changing the software. I think I'm gonna look for another Hyundai dealership because I live in an apartment complex that has problems with break-ins

Anyone looking to protect their car, I recommend the JDI ghost key push start switch. It adds an actual immobilizer to the system and costs 150 and then needs to be installed

Hey after you got the software update did you have a green light on dash? I left today from dealership and saw it but I thought will surely it's supposed to be on the dash but just curious is this normal?

I have the little anti theft sticker on my car and someone still tried to break in. They jacked up my door lock I had to get a new lock and cover replacement cost $378.00 and took 3 1/2 hours to get it fixed. Thanks again for sharing!

Question though: if you double press the lock button on remote after exiting, does it activate antitheft mode immediately, or does it still wait 30 sec? Also, any glass break/motion detector modules you can recommend that easily add to the factory system?

If you double press the lock it should immediately set the immobilizer. Not 15 or 30 seconds. I’m locking it and walking away. Activate that shit.

Make no mistake. Thieves have already found how to 'bypass' this. I'm on forums and we have already Owners with their cars stolen *after* the update. Not to mention all the damage thieves do to the ignition, it's a solid headache to fix the damage because it's a lot of wiring and hard to put everything back correctly - remember, thieves rip everything. Your best friend is still a bright colored Club Bar. And for those guys who repeat "a club bar can be cut", of course it can be cut, only 90% of thugs don't travel with an angle grinder.

Update: I have a 2013 Elantra that needs a key to start. I just went out to my car and tried the test, waiting 30 seconds. When I inserted the key, the 4 way's flashed and the horn alarm sounded. The car WOULD NOT start! I hit the unlock button on the FOB and the alarm stopped and the lights stopped.flashing.

I have a Kia and I think it’s the same as Hyundai’s software update! I just got it recently (about a month ago).. my car was stolen in July of this year and so I’ve been trying to be more secure.. I wanna get a wheel lock club also just in case.. I have tested it.. it’s only active when the car is locked… but I haven’t tried locking the door, waiting 30 seconds then starting it like you did… I watched a video where a guy unlocked the door from the inside, his alarm sounded and then he tried starting the car. So when putting the key in the ignition even when the car is locked, it alarms and doesn’t work??? Is Kia the same way on that too? Ope, I asked that before I watched the whole video hahahah I need to test this theory in my Kia 🤣

Good video, however, in my opinion this entire "Alert" by Hyundia is orchestrated to get people fearful and then get them to go for the upgrade which on their own website says it activates the kill switch. In the future when the shtf, I believe they are going to shut people down whenever they decide, not for car thievery. Do they ever tell you who actually shuts the car down? Someone has to push or program some switch to activate it. AI I'm thinking. Ultimately this is not a good thing. Do you want the powers that be to be able to shut your car down whenever they want to? Biden signed an executive order I think (look it up) that by 2026 all cars will have a "kill switch" in them. They've ready been putting them in because when we looked at new cars in 2015 one of the features of the Hyundia was that it had a "kill switch" in case anyone tried to steal it. They know just how to introduce these things so people will want them. Put them in fear. The ticktok video was probably done by the CIA.
