Patient Alimuddin, 62 yr old male hailing from Silchar, Assam, presented with complaints of giddiness, decreased hearing, and a buzzing sound in his left ear. Clinical examinations and scans diagnosed him with cholesteatoma of the left ear accompanied by temporal bone osteomyelitis.
He was counselled regarding the need for surgery to address his condition and subsequently underwent a complex surgery called subtotal petrosectomy. The infection in the skull base was fully cleared during the procedure, and his facial nerve was successfully preserved. Mr. Alimuddin has been doing well post-surgery and is on regular follow-up. He is thrilled to have been cured of the infection. We wish him all the very best in life.
