Craighill x André Hueston Mack Introduce the Best Wine Key
As a current Industrial Design student, this was very inspiring. Thank You!
Glad it inspired you! Keep going!
Just got one , Andre and I love the look and feel. I can pull a cork with it and I like the way it locks, but I can't lock it when I pull down the spindle. It won't lock in place. What am I doing wrong?
This is my first intro to all of this and I love it
haha “finalfinal”
FINAL2 lol
Please work on the the umbrella that will never inside-out. Not enough bendability. How to make titanium affordable & pass through security xray machines like my spine surgery parts :) Thank you for the video, I listened closely.👍🏻 Best wishes for the whole wide World. ❤✌🏻
Good or, 'Güd' quality design is most often the result of observation and experience; you must first identify where design is missing or ill-conceived, then establish where and how design will be applied by interacting with the thing or observing someone else interacting with it. Blue collar has 'boots on the ground' designers should have 'hands on the design'. Form and function can only be determined through observation and experience. Take for example the Tesla Sciburr-Truk, It is very obvious this was designed by a team of people who had no prior experience with trucks as a daily driver, nor did they bother to gain any before producing what looks like a 7 year olds idea of what a cool truck might look like. Whereas something like the Rivian which includes a flashlight that is stored and charged within the driver's side door profile accesible via a 'push-pop' mechanism when the door is ajar, is obviously the result of an informed decision. Now the Rivian is not my favorite utility EV and has its own issues but, this feature and several other seemingly minor aspects of their design speaks of a team that is immersed in their design process. And honestly, this kind of design feature is the kind of thing that would make or break my decision to purchase one product over another. The decision to buy the old house I live in was in no small part affected by a particularly funky lighting fixture that I just really like the ascetics of.
1:34 One-hundo P, I can't turn the sponge part of my brain off and I wouldn't want to. After watching Gary Hustwit's 'Helvetica' for the first time I spent a month being constantly distracted by random fonts and type-sets I would see throughout the day.
Better than Le Sable?
Hello Craighill, I am Lake from Denmark
Wanna buy
When I first saw your design, I was curious how you would deal with maintaining a seal as the metal contracted with shaking. The tapered lid is a really clever solution!
Idk if you could call that a reference to ceramics lol. Marketing is so snakey
We actually designed and released it in collaboration with East Fork pottery! So, experienced potters led a lot of the design process.
@ again, buzz buzz buzzword to sell product.
Those are so pretty. They just are.
we really agree. so pretty
Mattresses? Springs Office chairs?
A drill press doesn't have the spindle bearing configuration of a mill. You should only load a drill press spindle axially.
1 million dollars 🤙🤨
Yeah it's awesome. Idea for you for laptop case: have a standard shell in 1-3 sizes, but market with device-specific inner cushioning. This would be a pretty indestructible and very cool case.. bonus points for the version with the patina and lettering (your brand's text/model info) to match your inspiration ammo box. Wonder if it would have an optional strap?
Thank you for your thoughts! Super helpful feedback. Retaining the patina and lettering would be awesome.
@@craighillcompanyfantastic! I do see a potential pitfall with that design though.. the more it looks like a legit ammo case, the greater the chance of campuses or airports being shut down - as much as that would be free marketing! Perhaps pertinent to put a cool logo on there too and/or clear lettering to show what the contents are, e.g 1xLAPTOP VER 16x1½" CRAIGHILL -- LC12345 I've subscribed and will happily place an order if you do launch these!
Yes! Talk to me Hunter. Walk me through anything. And most of all, make me short form videos of things you find interesting.
This nonsense is what hurts my head so much. Why are we focusing so much on textures and lubrication reservoirs when you're creating a $94 product that is functionally significantly worse than a $5 caliper or ruler? I just don't understand how a startup can spend so much time and money on developing and advertising a product that they themselves don't even understand. It's absurd.
Because it is made by a 'designer'. Not even an engineer, just a 'designer'. Their entire shtick is colours etc. Nothing actually practical or useful in the real world.
Not a slide-rule and not a caliper, but a bit of both while functionally neither, but it looks cool and costs ten times as much as caliper? I think you focused on the wrong part of your design.
Fascinating. Makes me want to get into product design.
I don't need one but i actually need one badly at the same time ...
So it's a solution in search of a problem.
You just missed the most essential part of the caliper which is the precise measuring...
Right, where is the 20th of a mm measurement? Even cheap calipers have that. You can't do that accurately on this product, but if you know how, you can easily get that accurate with the average set of calipers.
FCD CR-AA (caliper ruler - all angles) just dropped lmao nice dimples 🦆
Put it towards the center and you could change which face of a flat surface faces you
Could it be a cell phone case that doesnt fold but can still be 'closed'. I kind of want one ..
Wiper blade
What about for a convertible
"We're looking for a problem to our solution."
So really, this is a very fancy sort of balisong. So, the blade sits inside the moving arm, and flips out in the opposite direction as the direction of spin for the handle it's nestled into. The hard part is having it sit centered when exposed, the secret to that is the spine of the blade nestles into the opposite handle, so when the blade comes out it's centered.
Hard top convertible
Table that flips from dining to pool table or something like that
I would take each rectangular piece and half it with another hinge. My thought being it could become a "infinity cube" that can keep folding into itself
How about a use in furniture. Like in these tiny homes like turning a chair into a cot or table turning into and art easel.
my first thought would be to make a double table top
the things i would do to get my hands on any one of these 😫
i just a drill bit and use the lock on the up down bit.
very interesting! my mind instantly goes to some kind of knife, blade, brush, or anything other kind of tool that's preferably stored away when not in use. maybe even a heavy duty light that can be flipped around to protect the lens when not in use. cabinet door could maybe be done this way too! either way, it's unlike any other specific mechanism ive seen and is obviously useful in the right application, nice work!
Thank you! Those are some great ideas. It's interesting (and new to us) to think about how it can be used as a protective mechanism, like your heavy duty light concept. Very cool.
Someone mentioned it's similar to a balisong (butterfly knife) in another comment
That’s cool
i think the lowrider scene has had this type of linkage on the robotic type hood and bed pop outs of the early 90s
Until the chuck flys out because it's only held in via a morse taper.
use a bigger/thicker HSS cutter to avoid all the wobbling and bending.
100% get a milling bit set or something, drill bits arent designed to be used for milling, and while wood is soft, it will still dull them really fast might even break them and launch a bit of metal towards you
Trim router with a homemade base plate
Use a router bit. Much safer, you don’t have to worry about the drill bit flying when it breaks.
Should've just used a chisel. That's what they're for.
If you do this too much you can prematurely wear out your drill press as it's not designed for the axial loads of a milling machine.
Its mdf and like a 3mm endmill. Its more than fine
If it works... It's not dumb.
Can anyone guess what sample we were working on?
We would have thought that you be in a knife maker and you wear a headband to hold back your hair it would tell you common Sense put a clip on your knife
Can the blade be replaced if it breaks or becomes damaged?
Yes, you can send it to us for repair
Cool little blade, use references to japanese kiridashi knives since the blade shape is very similar, anything connected to Japan and weapons gets extra traction on UA-cam.
