What I don't understand is so many people want to say Tori Holub isn't exactly like Karen. Karen Carpenter was a phenom, pitch perfect one take Karen. Alsona very talented drummer (for those who never knew, Karen always played the drums on their recordings). The fact still slaps you in the fact - Tori Holub is an amazing singer in her own right. To have the guts to do a tribute to Karen and be so close that if someone played her version and didn't tell you it was Tori, you might think it was Karen. It is that close. Then when you realize Tori is not using pitch correction or autotune (verified when you see her sing in public as well as with digital voice analysis), you realize that this young woman is the legit thing. We can keep on grieving that Karen isn't with us, or we can embrace thst we now have an artist that could sing anything she wants and be 1,000 times better than the popular artist that rely on studio tricks to pass as a great singer. It's your choice. I'm going to be a Karen fan AND a Tori Holub fan too.

To be fair, Tori's being compared to the highly produced version. Karen is lip synching to the record. Karen could pull it off live, she was in a category of her own . Tori is no slouch. Her voice is amazing and top tier. The thing with Karen and the Carpenters songs, she was filled with hurt and pain and that came through in her voice, even when she was singing happy songs. The longing for love and the need for happiness spilled out in that one of a kind voice. And her brother knew how to produce that voice.

It’s easy to forget the nuances of someone’s voice when you’re hearing an impersonation and you accept it as being very similar. This comparison shows the absolute perfection and clarity of Karen’s voice, leaving a mediocre soundalike.

People tend to forget and overlook Richard's keen ear and sharpness as a producer. I always said he was another George Martin.

Tori is phenomenal, but he listening to them side-by-side. I can now hear the difference between the two women. Karen has some intonations that were unique to her, especially on the low “oh” sound. She had the richest low notes of any female vocalist ever. Tori matches her vibrato and pitch really well.

Quite a talented young lady who has relatively recently (at least in my perspective, I'm in my 60s) discovered the wonderfulness of Karen Carpenter! I hope to hear much more from her, but more importantly, I hope many many people of the younger generations finally wake up to recognize the value of beautiful music like this. What's more, we almost desperately NEED this type of music back in our society, in order to help bring humanity back from the brink of disaster! I'm not kidding, gentle love songs sincere in their intent, is exactly what the younger generation needs now days. Otherwise without a culture of Love and Commitment for real MEN and WOMEN, our future is indeed bleak! God Bless you Karen for being among us, taken waaay too soon! And many thanks to Tori Holub for allowing us to relive that beauty through her skill and beautiful voice!

There is no one that compares to Karen. Tori is good but there is something about the resonance of Karen's voice that just cannot be matched. It is found mostly on the lower notes....It is a voice you can almost see if that makes sense.
