I think making the airplane engine is my favorite part of the build! So why not build a large-scale working aircraft engine?? A special thanks to Enginekitor for sponsoring this video! I can't believe how nice this Teching 5 Cylinder Radial Engine kit is. The detail is great and the fit is amazing. This was a true zen-like build. In this video, I show how I finally built my new model studio with way more lighting and storage than ever before! A special thanks to Flexispot for helping me upgrade my Video Production Studio! I can't get over how nice my new standing desk is. I love my new space. Check out www.flexispot.c...

A family vacation on the East Coast allowed me to visit the Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We had a blast visiting the museum and admiring the massive collection of models in the gift shop. If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend going. How to Paint 3D Printed Aircraft Engines
Переглядів 43 тис.9 місяців тому
3D Printing has never been better and I believe we are only seeing the start of great things to come. I picked up this 48th-scale gem of an R-2800 at a recent model show and I am floored by the detail. In this video, I will show you how you can paint these engines and enjoy all of the detail they have to offer. Supplies used: Tamiya LP-11 Gloss Aluminum Mr Color Aqueous H-56 Intermediate Blue T...
Painting a late war Corsair

Everything was progressing well with the Okinawa Corsair build until I experimented with a new paint and a new paint-scratching technique. And boy did I fail! However, this failure allowed me to fix some issues with the model, try some other finishing techniques and save the build. Supplies used: Tamiya TS-17 Gloss Aluminum Mr. Color 365 Gloss Sea Blue Tamiya Panel Line Accent (Black) Mig Ammo ...

Can a $3 paint panel be made into an attractive model base?
Переглядів 2,9 тис.Рік тому
A nice model base frames and provides context for your model. A great start can be had for as little as three dollars and some inexpensive supplies! This was a fun project and I took a risk with static grass to kick it up a notch. In a previous video, I used a LONGER RAY5 laser to make the information 'plate' on this base. Very easy to do. This laser engraver makes sharp model bases
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Рік тому
LONGER recently gave me a RAY5 5W laser engraver and cutting machine to try out. I'll be honest: I was completely new to laser engraving and cutting. But within a day I was confidently printing my very own model base for my Okinawa Corsair project. So, I've got to hand it to LONGER: If this newbie can make something decent, then anyone can do it, and do it quickly! To see and buy the RAY5, clic...
Is the Magic Factory Corsair better than Tamiya? Let's compare and find out!
Переглядів 57 тис.Рік тому
I've been asking for a new 48th scale Corsair for years. Don't get me wrong, the Tamiya kit is excellent, but it has a few build issues and could use a refresh. In this video I compare the mid 1990s Tamiya Corsair with the band new Magic Factory kit. Who is going to come out on top? How contests will improve your models and your hobby enjoyment.

Most modelers will never enter contests or go to shows. But they are missing out. The show is a great place to get tips, get ideas and maybe a cheap kit or two. Most importantly, these are places where like minded people congregate - so take advantage! You won't regret it. Hesitating on entering the contest? Yeah, I get it. But contest building will improve your skills and your models. Join me ...
Build a working jet engine model
Переглядів 4,2 тис.Рік тому
In this video, I am building the 'RT900' engine kit. This is a 3d printed kit for a 'cut-away' model. And the best part is that it is also a working model complete with an electric motor! As you will see, this model can be built in an evening (or two), making for an excellent desk or shelf model for the office or den. Special thanks to the video sponsor #stirlingkit If you want your own engine ...
The Best and Worst ways to move scale models

Hmhcisitinumbs🎉
Junk. Pitted and marred pieces. Scratches. Poor quality and not beautiful when finished. More embarrassing when people point out the quality issues. Tossed it in the trash.
@@aGoGoDaddyO that is too bad. My build was the complete opposite
Grumann Panther F9F-5 Korea War 1/32 scale
An injection molded Martin P4M-2Q Mercator, please...
The problem will become for the many that in trying to duplicate a highly skilled, advanced process like this, chances are more than likely that one is going to make what was an OK model into something less than OK.
You know what else is massive
I've got the B52/X-15 combo kit - I was actually given to me this past Christmas. I intend on building the X-15 first at least because I do not have the room for the Buff. Saying all that, who doesn't love the Buff so it will be built, just not this year.
1/35 H-19 Chickasaw is my wish.
Also love my Mirages!
1/32nd A-10. 1/48th B 36 at a decent price not for$1,000
I had a 1/72 Revell A-12 when I was in high school, so early 1970's vintage. Can't comment on how accurate it was, it was a long time ago.
I'm still waiting for a new tool 1/32 Hawker Typhoon from... Anyone. The Airfix 1/24 is just too much. I always thought it was quite the popular plane. Yet its been thoroughly ignored in this scale. Also an officially licensed TIE Bomber. In any scale. There has never been one. All garage kits. Bandai needs to get on this. Also desperately hoping for someone to acquire the Wingnut Wings molds because needing to pay $1000 for a Gotha G. IV is ridiculous. They're also the only company to produce a 1/32 Fe2b.
Ok nice list, but how about in 1/72 a B-32 Dominator , Avro Lincoln , and a Martin Mercator, in 1/48 how about a Martin AM1 Mauler, P-40Q, P -72 , and just for fun a P-79. And for god sake no more P-51, Me109, Spitfires, or Zeros please
My top 5 1. Tamiya P47m 2. Monogram Su25 Frogfiot, 3. Monogram Rf 101 voodoo, 4.Tamiya Do 335 two seater 5.a Mig17 don't know who makes one. All 1/48:scale that's my scale
Thanks For the Tip !! Where did you get those skinny sanding Sticks ??
My model kit wish list.. 1: Four 1:1000 scale U.S.S. Enterprise record 2: 1 1:1000 scale U.S.S. Defiant 3: 3 1:350 scale U.S.S. Enterprise refit 4: 3 1:350 scale U.S.S. Enterprise TOS 5: 3 1:350 scale K'Tinga Klingon battlecruiser
I like the French: Ouragan & Mystere, no Super Mystere. Obviously in 1/48. Next, in 1/48 the F-86H. I sort of wish there was a 1/48 B-45.
I would like more end of WWII paper projects
I want my 1/72 Fleet Fort. I'm shocked no one has issued it, it would sell at least three copies!
1/48 Scale I want to build B-47, B-57, and the ones you showed 😊😊
With the new Revell SR-71 I think they could put out a A/YF-12 Variant, or some aftermarket company can do a conversion kit.
Fun fact, the Blue Angels wanted A-7s coming out of the Phantom, but couldn't get the airframes. Imagine the SLUF in gloss blue.
I'd love to see a 1/72 B-32 Dominator.. 1/48 Martin Mauler and more 1/32 Japanese aircraft.
Agree with you re the A-7! I'd love to see someone do a new tool F11F-1 in 1/72nd.
I’ve just finished reading David McCullough book, titled “ The Wright Brothers “, so how about a 1/48 or even better a 1/32 scale model of the 1908 version which I’ll term the “demo flyer “. That version of the flyer was taken to Europe and also to Washington D.C. to prove that controlled flight was indeed possible! The book btw was excellent.
Nobody else wants a graceful, sleek 1/48 B-47? 😢 What about my C-119C with the PWA R4360's? Two ICONIC cold war warriors that would be SPECTACULAR in 1/48. The Mirage 4 is cool, but it's not in 48 either. Always the same old same old. Interior detail or vehicals in 1/72 are too twiddly to do without a jewlers eye piece, and the scale skin thickness is too thick.... More 1/48 for me please! (a Boeing 737-300 w/ full interior...wow!!!)
An all new Fiat G.91 in 48… maybe Kinetic finally makes it 😃
I just turned 65, and I remember building the old Aurora 1/48th scale "X-15 Rocket Powered Airplane" kit that I found in a small hobby shop in the late 1960's. If memory serves, it was based more on the prototype than actual flight hardware, but it was a fun kit to build. I hope someone from Atlantis is reading this, and if the tooling is still available . . . . Thanks for sharing this with us! 107th Like.
I would love to see a new 1/72 CT-114 Tutor. 2024 was 100 years for the RCAF and it would be great to see paint schemes for the Snowbirds and also the basic trainer scheme.
X-15 and Grumman F-11 Tiger -- both in 1/48
Can't argue with your list ! ( I am currently cannibalizing my YF-12 Italeri to fit the Revell SR - 71) Dane
Hopefully that is an easy graft!
1/72 or 1/48 CH/HH-3 Jolly Green!!
With the A-7 you could do a RCAF what if along with a Tornado GR1.
amerika...
Apparently Modelsvit are giving us a Mirage IV for 2025 but even better it's in 1/48 scale. HPH model are doing a B-47 and that as well is in 1/48 scale, that could be massive
Convair b36 1/72 NOW
How could you forget the Privateer?
1/72 scale early P-38Lightning E or F model. Come on Tamiya, you did 1/48th.
A couple of new tool aircraft with PE and other juicy detail: 1/48 Kingsfisher 1/48 Arado 1/48 Pz IV… but the older short-barreled versions (Ausf D or E maybe) A good 1/35 Sexton II (good… so not the Dragon one) New 1/72 HE-111 by Eduard or ICM
What? No British WWII bombers????
They're too ugly
What scale? The Lancaster is made in 1/48. Post mid 1943 the Brits almost exclusively made Lancasters or Halifaxs. US medium bombers took over in the RAF. That's why post WWII the RAF had the Canberra, they gave up on props
Which ones do you have in mind?
@ Airfix has the Beaufort and Hampden "frying pan" in 1/48. Add that to the Tamiya Lancaster in 1/48, and the Vickers Wellington by Trumpeter in 1/48 and the result you've got pretty much everything except the Short Sterling and the Halifax in 1/48. I'd say the British are as represented as the USAAF. We only had the Vanilla B-17 and B-24.
1/32 Curtiss F-11C and P-6E, lots of common parts between those two and some great interwar markings. Also, eclectic choice, FW-187 Falke, again 1/32, great looking heavy fighter, give us a choice of being able to do both the single and 2 seater in the same box.
Tamiya BT-5! Mike Baskette and I are waiting and waiting... Great video Chris! Except for the abuse towards my beloved A-7. These are all great subjects that even I, as a non-aircraft builder, understand and appreciate.
Beloved or not, that plane has a face only a mother could love. But I still want one.
@ModelAirplaneMaker negative, both it and the F-8 are beautiful 😜
Youve got your Reskit inhouse produced corsair getting released this year in 48th scale and possibly in 32nd, including all their 3d printed sets in the boxing. That’s something you could build for the channel!
Whoa! This IS happening!! Thanks for the heads up!
@ with pleasure
1. A kit that was properly researched. So, that the finish model shape and surface match the real thing. 2. A kit that its parts are well thought out. Joints and part seams are in logical location and does not require a ton of attention to properly finish. The same goes for how parts are laid out on the sprue. 3. A kit that does not have access panel open. Just mold them shut and if one wants to open them, have them cut it open. 4. A kit with clear and well thought out instructions. I wish some of the newer kit manufactures would take some time and study the instructions from any Tamiya kit. 5. With the knowledge and understanding of 1-4, a new tooled 1/48 scale F-111 series, Eurofighter Typhoon, SAAB Gripen, SEPECAT Jaguar and throw in a Mirage 2000 series.
This is mine. Most of them are Japanese planes (either from the Imperial Japan days and JASDF days). All are 1:72 scale 1. 1/72 Kawasaki P-1 2. 1/72 Kawasaki C-2 3. 1/72 Nakajima Kikka 4. 1/72 F11F Tiger 5. 172 F7U Cutlass
Well, of the expected kits the Eduard P40e is my most wanted. Needed: 1/48 O2 Kingfisher.
good approximation...yeah- there are definitely some muted yellows and oranges on engines with high temps (the x-15 is a perfect example)...
Is there any way to make this with a brush? Thanks!
You could try with a brush to mottle the surface and then blend it with a spray can. That might work.
New subscriber here. I really enjoy your channel. I wonder if they make the Merlin engine as well?
They make a few jet engines and some car engines. Not sure about the Merlin.
Superb!
