The true winners of this stupid advertisement campaign were DCA vanes and Iron Will broadheads. DCA stabilized faster and spun harder as a 3 fletch, even when compared to TACs 4 fletch. Iron Wills penetrated farther and cut the whole way through. The swalers really all got 3 inches of cut. Im happy TAC and swaker did this, but they sure proved that there are better products by their own testing.
100% tac drivers all the wayyyy💨💨💨💨💨🎯🏹🔥💪🏾
I am from Alberta Canada where can I purchase the tack glue and primer pen and the Tac fletches here in Canada? Preferably Alberta
My utmost favorite vanes TACS RULE 🏆👑🥇
Aerovanes. They spin faster than anything, but their an airfoil so it createa lift and you dont get the crazy drop. Best vane period.
What size vane do you recommend for 3-D ? I’m setting up a new bow and want the best Tac vane for my target bow .
Squidword 😂
Incredible video thank you for doing this Something that everyone has wanted to do but don’t have the resources
I have a question.... if it is so evident that the MAJORITY of bows tend to spin you arrows COUNTER CLOCK WISE, then WHY dont NO MANUFACTURERS make a FACTORY LEFT FLETCHED arrows????? You can get them but either custom made or fletch your own... ONLY FLETCHES FOUND IN LEFT COMES FROM ZINGER FLETCHES.....
Would love to see an updated test with the shwackers, megameats, severs, and beast broadheads.... I'm going to run Megameats again this year, I'm considering shwackers now, as well as beasts. Need more data
Ive tried fletching them on 2 different occasions now with very poor adhesion.
Why is there no mention on how to prep the arrow?
Hello, the arrow prep is not super critical with our fletching process. If the vanes are not sticking, it's extremely rare to be because of the way they were cleaned before fletching. Instead, it's usually because the jig might need a slight adjustment to acquire a complete seal between the vane and the arrow. We recommend cleaning the arrows with some acetone on a clean paper towel, but then follow that with water on another clean paper towel before fletching. If you prime, glue and stick the vanes and they don't stick, you would need to make a slight adjustment to the jig before trying more vanes.
How do you prep the arrows?
What's weird is I see these tests done involving the nap killzone and they always sucks for these tests but I get awesome penetration and I have pictures of the rib cages of my deer with the 2in cut straight through both sizes of the rib cage and the blades are never bent I have a pile of these killzones in a dresser drawer that have been through deer not a single one is bent all are still for the most part sharp a few have some edge chatter stuff from hitting rocks or whatever in the dirt. The only killzone I had bend the blades literally cut the opposite side fron leg almost completely off a doe it was held on by a little skin so yea ofcourse that bent the blades. Idk man killzones work perfect in real world circumstances
I personally just have never liked shwackers I used them for 2 seasons and I just didn't like them never seen good penetration with them. I personally have used the nap killzones for the last few years with zero issues but this year I'm switching to the g5 t2
Definitely gonna get me some of the 2.75s never shooting blazers again lmao
Tacs 🪨 rock💎🍒those rest are ☹️
Love Swhacker broadheads many deer down and quick, best broadhead I've ever used IMHO, my previous fixed and mechanicals (and I have used several) they are officially retired. -W. Liggett
Tacs 🪨 rock 🎸🎵🎶🏹💪🏾🔥
Love them I shot tru 3 sheets of drywall they held up fine. The only problem I had was they wouldn’t stay in my Arizona ez fletch. Got me a bitzenbuger that did the trick.
Nice 👍 way to go Tac 👍
Funny how they clearly pick favorites swacker heads are ok at best
I know this video was 10 months ago. But iron will Bill just did an incredible study of arrow veins. I would highly recommend Levi and the gang check it out. There was some fascinating information in there including the fact that spin rate has nothing to do with arrow stabilization. Nor does it have more or less drag on an arrow. Don’t get me wrong, I shot TAC veins last hunting season and had great luck with them. But I do think there’s a lot of misinformation in this video. I absolutely love the high speed footage though. Especially the whisker biscuit stuff.
The best broadhead test I’ve seen. And though I’ve not killed as much as you guys have I’ve killed a bunch. And the Rage Extreme original 2.0 has been my go to for years. The Hypodermic which everyone loves to test has always looked weak to me and I never ran them. But what you’re video shows of Swhacker opening after entry and saving the edge has my attention and o will blast some with them this fall. Good video guys.
That Megameat looks open before it even got to the rib???
Anyone ever had issues with the shrink bands that hold Swhacker closed
Which clamp do you use? Straight, right or left helical?
whats interesting is you guys are using Firenocks patent but didn't want to include AVII or III in the test
What’s the weight of the whole system? Broad head insert and collar!
175 grains
So.Turns out, left offset and helical have been a bad idea for trajectory, and sound all around since inception. Straight fletch is best, always has been. As far as biscuit goes, coupled with blazer vanes has probably killed more game than anything in the woods. Biscuit will always be the ultimate tree stand rest, you can turn the bow upside down and the arrow will remain in the rest. Regardless of how fletches look in slow mo. POI/consistency is king. Preference and confidence is the name of the game. Fellow archers don't mislead folks on sponsored partnership affairs. Truth is all these products work, and work well. Shoot what you can and what you believe in. 99 percent of these in depth micro measurements matter none compared to a humans inability to shoot perfectly consistently. Watch what the industry tells you. This world revolves around the dollar. There has basically been little to no improvements worthy of the price in a decade or more. All the fads Speed, KE, FOC, Fixed, Mechanical, Back tension, Thumb. Here we are finding out what some knew all along.. they all work. Keep your money, practice, and out shoot em with a much older, cheaper setup. Archery is between the ears.
When you say “shoots that thing” are you referring to the biscuit or the vane?
I run TAC vanes, they're a good product. But the first thing that other archers say is, "I heard from so-and-so that they are hard to get to stick." Guys just don't like read maps or follow package instructions.
Same here. All the info is there. There are no extra/different steps, just different materials. Love my tacs
You should sell these vanes in UK and rest of world for target archers! First half of video is really helpful for targets archery.
question: when you say the arrows all weigh the same. Is that pre fletching or post fletching? I'm curious if the drop test is just showing that the vanes are lighter or if the weights of the arrows were the same when fletched to show the aerodynamic properties. Thank you in advance for your reply.
How do you recommend prepping bare carbon shafts (no wrap) before fletching?
So great info but would like to see the Bohning heat vanes compared? Do you have anything comparing the 2.5" bohning heat vanes. Also do you have anything on valkyrie jaggereds
I hit a deer rib square on with a 3" 150 gr swhacker. Blew straight through the rib, double lung, passed through. I'll never use any other broadhead!
So are you saying a slower rotation arrow will carry longer than a faster spinning arrow because of less drag? I taught you want the arrow to rotate faster to stabilize the arrow quicker which return gives you better arrow flight. Also would like to see dorge’s firenock aerovanes.
I'll take a Exodus broadhead. I don't have to worry about blade failure or penetration
Love the vanes , WHEN THEY STICK . Figure that issue out and I’ll try them again . Not reliable in my opinion and a quick google search of the forums , people say the same things . I’ve spent hours trying to give these the benefit of the doubt . Most reliable color was white which welded to my arrows . The colored vanes had poor adhesion and fell off with minimal pull .
How many degrees of offset do you recommend?
When you use a helical clamp on a Bitzenburger jig, there's typically one ideal spot where the vanes will stick the best. Usually it's about 2.5° helical. This works for 99% of applications. We don't recommend straight clamps, with an offset to be used with TAC Vanes.
@@randygroff9026is there any jig I could use with the 2.75 driver to get a 3 degree helical?
@@randygroff9026why no straight clamp? That’s how I’ve done mine and it seems to work fine? Is it an issue with arrow flight?
@@archeryelkhunter6723 The difference between 2.5 and 3° helical would not only be really hard to measure, but there's practically no way an archer could see a difference in shooting the two different helicals inside 80-90yds. You may be able to squeeze more than 2.5° out if you really tweak the offsets to their extreme, but I truly don't think the benefits will out-weigh the risks of the vanes not being fully seated. I've shot a LOT of different broadheads with a 3-fletched 2.75" Driver on that 2.5° helical and they will fully support any broadhead, when the bow is well-tuned. If the bow is well-tuned, but this fletching configuration is not working with some of the larger traditional style broadheads, it's usually because the broadhead is trying to make the arrow spin in the opposite direction of the helical on the vanes. That works with flimsy vanes sometimes, but TAC Vanes will not allow a broadhead to pull more than the vanes. So if they don't match, you'll have erratic flight.
@Lexidezi225 Two issues with straight clamps - Number one issue is the bases on TAC Vanes are very low-profile. That's referring to the amount of material between the clamp and the arrow shaft. Because our material is very dense, it doesn't allow the vane base to squish in the middle, to allow good contact to the ends of the vanes. If you ever have a vane pop off, it's 100% saying it was either not FULLY seated, or there may have been a void of glue in that spot. The helical clamp can be adjusted to the perfect spot where the middle of the vane base will always land in the middle of the arrow shaft. You may need to see the helical clamp against an arrow to see what I'm referring to here... Number two issue is that floppy vanes of the past worked ok to correct the arrow with a straight clamp and slight offset because when they flap, that excess drag does help to straighten the nock behind the point. The down-side is they will drop off at longer distances, leaving more margin for error when you're having to quickly judge the distance in a hunting situation. Since TAC Vanes will not flap at all, we created the ideal stiffness that will force the arrow to turn within the first 3/4" of the nock leaving the string. That rotation is where you get the most control (especially with broadheads) with TAC Vanes. For instance if you have a 1° offset, you might only get the arrow to spin 3-4 full rotations at 20 yards, but can be more effected by wind. Where a 2.5° helical is going to have closer to 10+ revolutions and will help keep stability in more conditions. There are rare occasions specifically with target arrows where an offset may be better, but it's very rare.
I'm in the camp with wishing you'd tested TAC 2.75 in 4 vane 90* configuration, and also let the Sevr 1.5 or any other Sevr's into the comparison of mechanicals.
Thanks for the video, it's nice kindly if possible to show another video about the alignments of the straight vanes before glue, Further I would like to ask if the Gnock 4.0mm does it fit on the jig serviver point without free play?
I'm not sure what you meant about the alignments. You will have best results with a helical clamp and you need to adjust it until the vanes and arrows you're fletching will stick. When you prime, glue and stick the vanes down, they will stick in 5 seconds every time. If they are not, it means you need to adjust the jig, to acquire a better seal. G-Nocks fit into the Bitzenburger Nock receiver. However, in the video I'm using a Zenith nock receiver. It holds .166" - .244" and pin nock adapters perfectly centered for the most accurate fletching.
Primer pen, scotch brite, acetone, water and then put vane on. I’m going back to feathers
I've tried everything they don't stick good at all, tried wraps etc and when it gets cold they come right off with hardly any effort!!! I know A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO STAY AWAY FROM THE TAC!!
When comparing the Swhacker to the Iron Will, you fail to mention that the Iron Will is cutting on impact and creating an entrance wound the width of the broadhead while the Swhacker does not open until it reaches the internals of the animal. Thus, there is not much of an entrance wound if any other than the width of the ferrule. If you don't get a complete pass through, then you are counting on your entrance hole to provide the bloodletting trail.
It cuts from 1+ inches on entrance….
I don’t care how good these vanes are supposed to be, if I cannot use acetone on them, I won’t buy them. If they are that sensitive to a good cleaner like acetone, then I will never buy them. You can put Flex Fletch vanes in a jar of acetone for days and not ruin them. You can literally reuse them time and time again.
Interesting video, but really dont like hearing in one part they reused the broadhead and stayed sharp. As one reshootd broadheads then blades can bend break more do some companies products might then look worse, just thoughts by me
I'd like to see the 3 fletched 2.75 tac with helical
Pretty biased. Showed all the results but moved the bar a bit too much. Went on about shooting flatter and then said but it doesn't mean anything if you don't shoot tighter groups, then when the groups were the same or worse than one changed the narrative to " look how much higher they are on the target. Mind you that was also at 100 yards, at 25-35 yards where most deer are shot the difference would be about 1''. Then when shooting through ribs showed how all the other broad heads flexed so bad they angled downward into the Gelatin. Then when the schwacker, which isn't supposed to deploy or deflect until after it has penetrated the ribs and entered the cavity actually deflected so bad it drove down through the table. That is when we stopped talking about deflection and went right to amazing penetration. Except that would have been a deer who was punched square on at about 30 feet and would have come out the bottom of the deer. Then we go to shooting through plywood where the Schwacker should have drove clean through the plywood and the gel block but it barely penetrated. Why when there is so much less force on the broad heads, I will say the other expendables were horrific, but the two fixed blades had entrance wounds and deeper penetration. But we immediately changed the penetration subject to how wide the wound channel was and not, damn we may never recover that deer because there is no tracking juice. Nothing about those tests blew me away except for the weakness of an expandable hitting leg or shoulder.
