Beautiful, I have the book, I’d better get started on it. I spent early spring learning “Classical Gas”! I need something new, as a solo nylon string, amateur, 81 year old player!

Thank you so much for posting this. That’s the most unique take on Giant Steps I’ve ever heard apart from the original! I’ve realized for years that I (and everyone!) need to listen to more Eddie..Eddie Harris :^)
Thank you so much for your words. I’m glad to hear that this solo struck a special chord with you. Eddie’s musical approach still holds many secrets that have yet to be uncovered in a public forum. In my opinion, his influence is undeniably present in many players… Please subscribe and thank you for the support! Be inspired and keep on keepin’ on! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Look out for the next Eddie Harris Solo coming soon and support The Eddie Harris Family that curate his website and legacy. I’m eternally grateful to them for giving their blessings to my pursuits….
The line at 0:56 lmao, crazy!
Absolutely!! And, when you think about how he sets up the line with the Lydian sound and then contrasts it with that crazy sweep…. It’s amazing….. George shows us his genius here in so many ways. His instinct and taste transcends every style he plays in. Thanks for your comment and support! Be inspired and keep on keepin’ on!🙏🏽🙏🏽
Jorge Dalto gran pianista Argentino.
🙏🏽🙏🏽 Seguro que si!! Le agradezco mucho por su apoyo. Manténgase conectado al canal para recibir noticias de los próximos solos que estrenarán.
silky smooth
Nothing like Eddie Harris😉 Thanks for the comment and support🙏🏽 please subscribe and look out for more great solos🙏🏽🙏🏽
Why not include the bass line or at least incorporate them into the changes? Pretty interesting part of this solo, no?
Thank you for your comment and support. The bass line is extremely important and reveals in further detail the “performance situation” that impressed upon Bob’s choices. However, the focus of this transcription is only on Bob’s content. I encourage that, all who study this solo, transcribe the fantastic playing of Gary Willis. And, btw, I studied with Gary😉🙏🏽. Be inspired, keep on keepin’ on, and remember to subscribe to support all the wonderful content in this playlist. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🎸🎸🎸
What a great unique voice in jazz EH freedom jazz dance 💥☮️❤️✨

I have just received the book, probably too advanced for my talent and I’m already 81 years old, but I loved Mr Burrell’s music and Latin music for 60 years. I should be able to learn a few things!
Thank you so much for your support and your comments. I’m available for tips and tricks for the book. Be inspired and keep on keepin’ on! Please Subscribe too🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Benson is pure legit fire.
Absolutely! Thanks for your comments🙏🏽! Thanks for your support and please subscribe🙏🏽🙏🏽.
Excellent, thank you!
You are welcome! Thanks for all the support!!🙏🏽🙏🏽
Nice, but wish I could hear the piano better, back off the bass
Thanks for your comments. The MIX is indeed a bit bass and drum heavy. The only comping instrument on this track is the Guitar. And, the guitar is playing sparsely too. I suggest that you find the track on UA-cam and then EQ it in a DAW. This just might remedy the situation…. Thanks for your support and please subscribe. Stay inspired🙏🏽🙏🏽 Next solo is coming soon!!!
I think you write it one octave to high
Thank you for your comment. The transcription is written in concert key for the guitar. Please make the necessary octave adjustments according your instrument. Be inspired and please subscribe! 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Heavy stuff! Some seriously advanced ideas that I don't know if my ears are ready for
Indeed it is! Keep on listening, introduce some of those ideas into your playing mixed with what you can hear already. Then, little by little, you will begin to hear them…. Thanks for your comments and support! Keep on keepin’ on and be inspired! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Each solo in the playlist sheds light on the other. Especially these solos Bergonzi, Berg, Thomas, Sambeat, and McLaughlin….. Look out for more great solos to come😉😉
Very notey. Very notey.
Donna Lee usually offers a lot of lines at such a high tempo. However, there is indeed a lot of interesting content here and motivic development. Thanks for your comments and support. Be inspired, motivated, and subscribe to watch the other solos too…. 🙏🏽😉
next level bop wow
Absolutely! Gary’s improvisational language is yet another amazing dialect in the amazing world of Jazz! Thanks for the comment, subscribe, and continue to be inspired🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
That solo was not interesting at all to me.
Thank you for your comment. Your assessment is to be expected. All solos tend to resonate differently with each listener due to our own unique and subjective set of values. I too can list many solos that I felt weren’t interesting at all for certain content specific material. However, I do marvel at the genius behind the many processes needed to compose such solos in the moment. Thank you for supporting the channel and for giving the solo a listen. Be inspired and motivated!!!!
" IN THE MOMENT" IS NOT IN THE MOMENT ,,IT TAKES PRACTICE,,OF DETAIL WORK,REPETITION OF LINES ..OVER AND OVER..." YOU DONT PLAY SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVE NOT PRACTICE.@@contemporarylatinjazzguitar
Yes, all of the solos are a true testament to hard work, diligence, hearing, and many other factors. However, the moment does play a significant role in influencing what one actually plays in the moment. Thank you for your comments and support. Please subscribe and be inspired! Look out for more great solos!🙏🏽🙏🏽
Just say you cant hear it.
@@GeoffBournes No doubt it was technically proficient. I just didn't find it interesting at all.

Sooooo good (and love the concert pitch transcription)
Thank you so much!!! Gary is just stellar here. I’m glad you enjoyed the transcription. Be inspired and subscribe! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Look out for more fantastic solos.
What slo down Used? Perfect pitch?
I use Transcribe! for difficult passages. However, because Gary’s chromaticism is extremely challenging for the ears, having incredible relative pitch developed over the years is helpful too.
Research the B.S Gary went through at Peabody!@@contemporarylatinjazzguitar
Gary is the founder, director and chair of the Jazz Department at Peabody and he studied at Howard University. Wallace Roney was at Howard at the same time….. Thanks for the enthusiasm and your great support….

They all do🙏🏽 George is revered🙏🏽🙏🏽 And, there is even a famous video around where Scofield talks about trying to learn George’s right hand technique. What album did George do this on??
Hello! George recorded “Poinciana” and two other tracks as a sideman guest appearance on the incredible Jorge Dalto and Super Friends record “Rendez-vous” 1983 East World Japan. George plays on two more tracks here “My Latin Brother” and “Hotel Du Globe.” Interesting enough Barry Finnerty and Ted Pearlman also appear on the records other tracks too. The record is rare but you can find it in its entirety on UA-cam too. Not only his amazing sense of harmony but also his use of rhythm is quite remarkable.

zzzzzzzz..... sorry, sounds like one lick after another over a two chord vamp (not the changes to Old Devil Moon). George Benson had a lot more to offer than that.
Thanks for your comment! Some solos tend to ring more loudly with some than others. As you have noticed, the arrangement changes for the solo section do indeed differ from the original changes of Old Devil Moon. However, Benson does offer extremely interesting harmonic content, rhythmic content, and motivic development over a two chord vamp. Therein lies the genius of what was to come…..🙏🏽🙏🏽
His feel for time is unmatched. There is no sloppiness nor corny ideas. He is the hippest alive!
