Mashel Falls - Eatonville, WA

Waterfalls through 4 seasons. The Mashel Falls trails are easy to moderate 5 mile hikes from Eatonville or a 1 mile hike S of town from a small parking lot along the Alder Cutoff Rd E following the old train tracks. The Upper and Lower Falls are a great destination for families and pets. Be careful around and above the waterfalls as they are dangerously slick.

July 31, 2023 - Visited Spurt Cove Cabin on the NW entrance to Thomas Bay. Glacial green water and bergy bits flow off Baird Glacier (in the NE corner). Kayaked to Cascade Creek Cabin and hiked 1/2 m to a bridge over a deep gorge above Cascade Creek Falls. We anchored in the SW corner of Ruth Island Cove near several vessels tethered to a floating dock over 2 charted shipwrecks.

7/6/23 - 4 Humpbacks fed in Middle Pass as we arrived. We were surprised by a sleeping whale in the entrance to Mosquito Cove. Other whales fed and snoozed all day. Fantastic kayaking!
