    Looks like you had a successful TDF. So much to learn. It’s cool that you’re trying a wide variety of fibers. Yay for your niece and her Gold Star project! Pick up every Stitch sounds like a great store. Enjoy your last few weeks of freedom!

    So I'm two months late to the party but the wedding you went to would be your 2nd cousin because he's the child of your first cousin lol... your crochet garments are coming out really nice! I think i have an aunt that lives in Columbia...i also have one that lives in Bowie! I won't be going to Rhinebeck this year! However I'm going to SAFF so I'm very excited about that.

    Thanks for another fun episode. Hope you are enjoying the TdF. It's cool to see the transition from fiber/braid to single to plied. Love your weaving. And all the treddle 'oops' look like design elements to me!!

      Very much enjoying the TdF. I'm actually very glad that it's over the summer and not during the school year! This gives me time to focus and not rush. I need to learn to take more brakes when I'm spinning though and learn that I don't need to spin up a whole braid in a day! I don't know how I got into that mindset, but I think it has something to do with my ADHD! Still learning about that too since it's a recent diagnosis.

    Oh, my goodness! I think I might be about to over share... Thread crochet! My granny was big on this back in the day. You brought back so many memories talking about your Nonna & sharing her work. I have some pieces, too. Your story about heirlooms being made for each child. I am relating to you through my husband's Baba. When we married, his cousins came to me with a wrapped gift. The most beautiful handmade table cloth. I think bobbin lace. They explained that my husband's Baba made one for each grandchild to be gifted at their marriage. They said they'd been waiting 25 yrs to give it to him on his wedding! I almost fell on the floor. My favorite wedding present! Shadow Box: You can do it, but as you said it won't be air tight. I was thinking shadow box the whole time you were showing us each piece. My only idea is to include a photo of your Nonna. Other Ideas: You can put them under glass on tables or serving trays. Smaller pieces can be set in acrylic for Christmas ornaments or paper weights or coasters. Okay... I'm done rambling. This vid got me so worked up. LOL Thank you for bringing back the memories. ❤

    Pick up fewer stitches for the collar below what you consider your waistline. Yes, smaller needle for the collar of the beast also. Got lots more use out of my beast than I expected. Great KAL.

    Your hair looks great! So fresh! All your WIPS are great and I love seeing all the crochet projects. For your granny squares, I'm always partial to gray. I think it makes the colors pop. Have fun on Sat playing with fiber. What is the difference between a rolag and a batt? Thanks for another fun episode.

    • @knitknotandweave8177
      @knitknotandweave8177 2 місяці тому

      I'm not sure if there is a specific different in regards to spinning. This is all still so new to me. Basically what I know, rolags are smaller quantities of fibers that are easier to handle, great if you are using a drop spindle of any kind, and I think easier to practice the long draw. They look like little logs or worms of fiber. A batt is created in a rectangular shape and if 1 piece. You just sort of rip off chunks or stripes and spin it up. You would probably get a more detailed/specific answer from Kirsten at JK Fiber Arts though!

    Always fun to watch your podcasts, tho so sad to learn about Judy. I bought one of her Nantucket baskets at a yard sale years ago and think of her every time I look at it. I'm always interested to see how people organize their stash. Mine is by weight. And after watching your previous episode, I further divided the fingering - with and without nylon. All of mine is in plastic containers to prevent the critters you mentioned !!

    Loved this episode! Yes, please. Definitely want to see WIPs & Stash Organizing. I'll be glued. I am in the process of organizing my stash, too. Recently put everything on ravelry, one box at a time. Reboxed separating acrylics from naturals. Plan on refining the system even more (once I see your ideas 🤪). On ravelry, I also paired up stash yarn with patterns from my library & added them to my projects with photos to keep me focused on my goals. I enter % finished, also. Keeps them orderly. Would love it if you took a peak. Silly aside: Your earrings kept changing color. If I had a glass of wine, it could of been a drinking game. 😀

    Fitness challenge go for flexibility. I can keep strength up decent, but ease of movement. You really had to dangle a Steven west challenge in front of me. After I get the cardigan done. Btw, are we going to make a meet up a gathering to show the cardigans off to each other?

    I organize yarn multiple ways, as you’ve seen. I’ve done it by color, then by weight, then by fiber content. Right now, most of it is organized by color. Once I make more space it’ll be a combination of the two like it used to be. My self-striping is organized by dyer because I have so much MustStash. I also have color-changing and luxe fibers separated from the rest and minis and half skeins have the own bin. All the yarn i have in balls are separated by fiber content. Then I have a ton of yarn that’s separated from the rest because it’s for planned projects. My fiber is separated by dyer and fiber content. If I get around to making the Spark, I’ll join you in steeking. 🙂

      Yes, I love your cubes of yarn behind you. Do you not need to worry about fiber eating critters in TX? I know there are moths (and stinkbugs) in my area and sometimes when I come home at night in warmer weather when moths are out, if I had my porchlight on when I get home, I run the risk of a moth getting in when I open my door. I'm hoping to make Voyage by Wool & Pine for steeking. I figure use up some minis and scrappy leftovers and it's a double whammy :)

      I’ve not had any issues. I also keep cedar and lavender sachets in each of my cube/bins, and the door to my craft room is closed unless I’m in there, so that might be why I’ve not had issues. So far the only creepy crawlies I’ve found in that room are spiders.

    Yes please!! I would love any ideas I can get:)!! I first organize by weight, then try to put sweater’s quantities together. I use a lot of plastic bags. One thing I have is a couple of sets of shelves with fabric boxes. Re: steeking! I have a couple of projects with steeks and am considering felting the steek stitches before cutting them!

      Interesting, how do you plan to felt just the stitches that you need to steek??
