  • @brucegelderbloom914
    @brucegelderbloom914 Рік тому

    What I see with so many spinners is that they don’t get their left foot to the front fast enough (right handed thrower). The faster you get your foot to the front of the ring, the more efficiently you will be able to rotate the hips, because if you try to rotate your hips and torso with just one foot on the ground you are not going to be able to put very much energy into the shot as oppose to having the left foot down. And also the longer you stay on the left while the shot is off the neck the better your reverse is going to be because you transferred all of your weight to the left leg and you will be more balance which will help to reduce fowls.

    I would like to say a few things kind of a tribute to not only a special athlete but to the Gym at which she trains. What a difference a year makes. May 2021 Ashlyn Giles (my Daughter), brakes a Pennsylvania State discus record that had stood for 27 years not only did she break it she smashed it by over 5 ft. 164'5" to 169'7". Ash increased her PR from 134 ft to 169 ft in less than a year. She has natural God given ability but the training and coaching she received from Trevor Stoltzman and Dane Miller at Garage Strength was invaluable. Ashlyn is the 2021 indoor National Champion, the Pennsylvania State Champion in both discus and shot put. She received a full ride to the University of Wake Forest, she increased her shot put by 20 ft from 31' to a PR of 52'11" from her freshman year to senior year and her discus by 68 ft from 101' to 169'7" in the same amount of time. Make no mistake if your child has a talent for throwing, Garage Strength will absolutely 100% help them to achieve their maximum potential and abilities. They will also hopefully help them to receive a scholarship to a major University depending upon their skill level. You don't necessarily have to be a superstar either if you just want to get better and realize you're maximum abilities Garage Strength will help you achieve just that. Parents the coaches at Garagege Strength genuinely care about your child, this isn't a business for them this is a way that they can give back to the community and to Highschool and Collegiate athletes, Trevor and Dane along with the entire staff are really selfless human beings and if you want your child to be treated like they are Dane and Trevor's children that's exactly how they treat them. Couple years ago my family fell into some financial hardships and it was difficult for us to pay for training at Garagege Strength, Dane however allowed Ashlyn to go for free as long as she went six days a week for 2 hours a day he saw something special in her and I cannot thank him enough for that gift. Ashlyn received $1,000 from Gatorade because she was named the female highschool track and field athlete of the year for the State of Pennsylvania, she donated that to Garage Strength to set up a scholarship in case families fell into the same hardship that we did. Trust me when I say I thank God often that a place like Garage Strength exist and fortunately it is in the same town in which I live. You don't necessarily have to live in Southeastern Pennsylvania or in the state of Pennsylvania at all. Dane does a podcast in which he trains athletes via computer, another athlete from Western Pennsylvania who is also going to Wake Forest on a full ride trained this way, she finished second in the state in both discus and shot put but the champion (in 3A, Ashlyn was the 2A State Champion, but if you want to be technical Ashlyn would have won either class she had better marks in both events, I hope I don't sound conceited I'm just sooooo proud) also from Western Pennsylvania also trains through podcast and the girl who finished second in shot put behind Ashlyn, guess what she also trains via podcast through Garage Strength, in fact the Michigan State Champion and the Nike Outdoor National Champion in shot also a Garage Strength alum.

    it's a shame that there is so little coaching when it comes to this sport. there are some real athletes here but with little knowledge on how to actually throw. This isnt their fault, like i said, its the fact that there are almost no educated coaches. every thrower had catastrophic issues with their throw that is the difference of adding 5 plus feet to there throw exept for the one thrower that spins with the long hair. That gentleman clearly has a good understanding of the physics of the sport.

      In HS you see a lot of athletes who are technically limited by flexibility or strength but are still able to perform reasonably well. it's not always the coach but you are right in the general sense. A lot of athletes are coached wrong and lose a lot of potential.

    • @MrShollen
      @MrShollen 3 роки тому

      Part of the problem is that throwing, or track and field, for that matter, is a second or third sport for a lot of athletes. I coached for a little while and the best thrower I had one season went to a throws camp with me, learned a lot of valuable stuff there, then proceeded to dip out of practice early every day to attend off-season football activities. He spent no time on technique, he would just show up, warm up, take some throws exerting a ton of energy trying to see how far he could make it go, then off to football stuff. I doubt many of them know how they look throwing, or ever record themselves to learn their faults.

    • @boominator64

      When I was a HS thrower we had no coach. The head coach, running coach gave me a magazine with photos to learn how to throw. I ended up coaching the other throwers. I went undefeated for 3 years on varsity and placed third in Southern California for my division. I always wonder how much better a thrower I would have been had I had a real coach. In college I was going to be the only shot, discus, javelin thrower but I tore my ACL in my left knee playing college football. I never could throw again.😔

      @@rodhesport7585 I recall a situation in the California State junior college championships where a competitor pulled out a hidden 14lb shot from his training bag and it appeared that he was gonna use it in competition. The officials were checking the shots even in warmups though and confiscated it before he was able to take a title away from a more deserving thrower. There are good reasons for these rules. Especially at a high stakes meet like this.

    • @rodhesport7585
      @rodhesport7585 3 роки тому

      @@jelliott8424 We agree those rules are important, but official's feet are not cemented in the ground. They can move to check shot put before they enter the ring. Our point is that officials must work for and around the athletes. If officials are supposed to remain unbiased, then they certainly must conduct themselves in a way that does not impact the results of the performance. If checking ball weights is so very important to them, then there are ways of quarantine implements so they dont need to be checked before every throw. Thanks for the great discusssion!

    Heres the info on the Ethiopia Coffee and why the long name. Wendo is the Town in Ethiopia the coffee was grown in, The station the coffee was washed at is called Matebe Berson. Grade 2 is the name they would give to the second highest standard of coffee that Specialty Coffee Association of America gives. Its basically like describing a wine. :-)

    This lecture provides an excellent perspective on coach/athlete management. Some years I have had up to 30 throwers at once on my high school squad which can make efficiencies difficult to reach. Justin provides multiple perspectives and objectives throughout this lecture, from his first-hand experience and knowledge, to assist with your coaching needs. Another must watch!!

    I purchased this lecture last year as both a high school throws coach as well as a masters thrower and found Justin's approach to rotational throwing enlightening. Not only has what I learned improved my athletes performances - it also improved my own. A must watch if you are serious about rotational throwing!!

    Holy cow I just went and watched all the big guy throw, Crouser, Hill, kovacs and Walsh. They all do this. I don’t know why I never saw it. Makes so much sense!!! It truly does look like a javelin right leg with a little more rotational element.
