    Interesting observations! (No offense, but please check your spelling: Provence is spelled with an “e” not “i”). More importantly, I am really surprised you could even find an apartment for 700 euro in an arrondissement around Paris. And, I definitely needed to hear the comment about the restaurants. Never even thought could afford Paris, but planning to rent in Provence -around Toulon area for up to 1500 euros. Will be retired couple. Maybe outside Paris or Lyon should be considered also.

    Just in case you don't know, Paris is NOT the only big city in France. Lyons, Marseille, Toulouse, Bordeaux Montpellier, Strasbourg, Lille have certainly not much to do with the countryside around Limoges where you apparently live. Thanks anyway.

      Hello! Of course I know that and have been to all of the cities you mentioned ^^. If you watched the video you would know that I talk about a lot of those cities when I explain there are other big cities across France that some of these points don't relate to because they are more developed on an city scale such as city bikes and public transportation etc. Maybe watch the whole video next time before commenting, just a thought! Have a nice day!

    Allowing drink alcohol doest mean you are open minded. Whose standard are u using? It is forbidden not only in the Quran but also in the bible. It cause damage to the society .

    • @JordanPatrick
      @JordanPatrick 10 днів тому

      That's not the only point about open-mindness that I was referring to. Gammarth/Marsa were neighborhoods where locals could be self expressive with less social judgment which I found progressive and cool. Compared to other Arab countries I've been to, these areas were "open-minded" and it included nightlife. In the bible, Jesus and his prophets drank wine, so I'm not sure that's totally true what you mentioned, but all in moderation and not to an excessive amount and it's also condemned drinking too much, but a glass of wine at dinner never hurt anyone. I respect all opinions and grateful for your opinion on the matter! Thanks for sharing your point of view, it's nice to hear what people think around the world!

    So American to be totally ignorant of what socialism is. France is a capitalist country. It has a social democratic character financed by high personal and corporate taxes that provide universal social programs. It is not "socialistic".

    • @JordanPatrick
      @JordanPatrick 2 дні тому

      You have a point, I should have said "democratically governed by socialist parties" although one can argue that ce qui governe un pays represente le pays dans ses vues politiques quand même non ?

    You confuse 'Provence' with 'province', one is a region and the other an administrative area of France.

      Bonjour, merci pour vos commentaires....je parlais de province, peut-être vous parlez de mon accent ? You were born in the USA, that makes you an American-Frenchman, not the other way around.

    • @JordanPatrick
      @JordanPatrick 10 днів тому

      As an adopted citizen of this beautiful country, I'm more proud to be French because I wasn't born a French man, therefore I consider myself French-American. You might consider it differently and that's ok

      @@JordanPatrick I understand, but the designation does not depend on one's feelings. I was born in the US and am a naturalized Dutch citizen. I feel more Dutch than American yet I am properly referred to as American-Dutch.

      Hey! Long story short, with the Olympics coming up I've been super busy with work 11 hour days, 6 days per week so I haven't had enough time to film and edit videos the last 6 months, but I'll forsure get back to making videos once the Olympics are completed, and maybe a life update video during the games to share how it's going! It could actually be kinda cool to make a vlog during the olympic working experience!

    Thank you for the video. Interesting. About the negative things: Tunis is much safer than Paris. Stayed there several times in the centre, not a safety issue at all. The only problem are the touts during the day who are after you wanting to scam you out of your money, especially on Sharia Habib Buu Raqiba. Wrong change in supermarkets I never ever experienced. May be a new phenomena? Stolen money: I am sorry, but I would never trust a Muslim drinking alcohol, especially in Tunisia. It means they don't stick to their values. And would you ever take strangers to your home in your home town for staying overnight? Paying cash: For me that is not a disadvantage, but a big advantage. I do not like using cards and lose my overview over my spendings. I really cannot understand people love cards so much.

    En tant qu'étranger, vous ne risquiez rien, hormis de vous faire arnaquer financièrement par quelque escroc? mais cela n'est pas exclusif à la Tunisie. Ce qu'il faut savoir c'est qu'en tant que Français ou Américain, vous ne vivrez pas dans le pays comme un Tunisien. Lequel est définitivement "ciblé" littéralement par la police du pays qui le traite comme des moins que rien. Ce qui rend tout citoyen Tunisien potentiellement un victime en attente d'un agent de l'ordre en Tunisie. Evidemment, tous les flics ne sont pas corrompus. Mais la proportion des chantages et rackets qui ont eu lieu ces dernières années plus l'absence de justice dans un véritable Etat de droit, ont fait que le sentiment général dans le pays tourne autour de l'insécurité. En clair, si vos amis vous ont gentiment prévenus sur ce point, ce n'est pas excès de nervosité, mais par bienveillance pour vous éviter un excès de confiance dans un pays qui régresse au niveau des droits. Heureux que vous n'ayez pas eu à en souffrir.

    La prochaine fois, je vous recommande d'aller fouiner du coté de MAHDIA, une petite ville côitière en forme de presqu'île à 205 km au sud de Tunis, sur la côte est du pays. Vous y goûteriez à la Méditerranée, à l'Italie et à un parfum de Sahel inédit.

    If live just 25 miles from Concordia in Irvine. It’s laughable to me you got written up for having girls in your room. I live 2 miles from Biola University, another super Christian school. Great video! I am happy that you have met people in Tunisia that accept gay people. However, there is still a lot of hatred towards the LGBTQ+ community, and the worse part is that you can be put in jail for three years if being gay. I know that many people in Tunisia accept homosexuality, but sadly, I have the perception that most people do not. It is impossible to live freely when there is this law that can put you in jail just for loving a person of the same sex. I do not know what it will take to remove this law, but the country has definitely a long way to go.

  • @yowe4549
    @yowe4549 24 дні тому

    As a Tunisian, I really appreciated this video and your honesty! It's informative for anyone visiting Tunisia. Really liked the positive points that you mentioned and the way you presented the negative ones. It's important to pay attention to your belongings and just make sure that they're not easily accessible to anyone with bad intentions, just like in any big city in Europe, I assume. I'm guessing the warnings you've gotten from friends before coming here made you extra wary but I totally get it. I've always paid more attention to my bag/money going downtown as a lone female as well, while being a local myself. I've never been pick-pocketed or stolen from, but you need to be aware of your surroundings. I'm sorry to hear about the people who stole from your own place, that was really unfortunate. Try to avoid having strangers come back to your place, especially if they're drunk. We're all quite friendly people, although some might do it with bad intentions. It's best to come here with a local that you trust so they can show you the places worth visiting and be with you to avoid being scammed etc. I hope you can come back with your friends from Paris and it's good to hear that you've had a good time in Sidi Bou Said!

    Too bad it was in Limoges you went to instead of a younger, more cultured place like Toulouse. It is the city after Paris that has the most students & thé apéro & night life is well & alive down here..especially since the weather allows much more open terraces. I can see why you prefer Paris to Limoges..even the French would prefer Paris to Limoges & that’s saying a lot 😂

    Free anything costs money and is also paid for by the taxes taken from citizens. If this did not put the nation at risk of being ripped off by infiltrated politicians, I might be a little more open to it all. French get millions upon millions of dollars from tourists. If it didn't, French would be an extremely poor place.

    “Every man (of the world) has two countries (father lands), his own and France." -Thomas Jefferson Was popular, when France was very popular back in the day. I live next to France, can’t say I’m a fan BUT what Napoleon did for Europe I very much appreciate: you said it in the video also: secularization! The total separation of any church and state - amazing! And the though bloody and brutal revolution gave us the separation of powers: legislative, executive and judiciary. That’s what your founding fathers brought to the USA from Europe and built into the beloved by so many constitution. Nowadays the free press is sometimes considered the fourth power of the state. Currently all those amazing things that came out of the enlightenment of humanity and was fought for so fiercely with blood, toil, sweat and tears, mainly blood by so many and kept preciously guarded as it deserves, is totally under attack and I very much fear for the enlightenment, maybe because it was “just imported” rather than bitterly fought for in the USA - may fall. Get destroyed by the MAGAs. Trampled to death. It’s a nightmare that soon will likely become gruesome reality. Sorry for the gloom, guys, France is great! Enjoy Savoir-vivre and have a good time ✌️

Please do yourself the favour- also your mind maybe blown in the process (as a bonus) - and look it up. There’s a video for example on UA-cam about two scientists, who trained a goldfish to DRIVE himself in a mobile aquarium around a room to get to treats, also solve a labyrinth and so on. Goldfish are amazing animals, you’re welcome.

    Hey Jordan, I've watched a few of your videos. It's impressive how you moved to France all on your own, with so much uncertainty and while still learning to speak French. I moved to France about 8 years ago. In my situation, my ex-wife is French. She surprised me with a request to divorce while she was in France visiting her family with our two kids. Long story short, I moved to France cause it was the only way to stay in touch with my kids. As a father to French citizens, I was able to obtain a "carte de séjour" for a "regroupement familiale". I had to prove I pay child support and that I actively participate in my kids lives. In my situation, I already spoke French fluently and had already finished college, so it was less daunting. My Dad is from Cameroon, a French speaking country. I grew up there and was in a French private school from kindergarten through sophmore year of high school. I grew up in a French bubble and for all practical purposes, I'm French. I've been thinking lately of requesting French nationality but haven't made the jump yet. My family moved to the US when I turned 16. I'm an American through my mother. That's actually my only citizenship cause Cameroon doesn't allow dual citizenship. I lived in Indiana and Texas for 19 years, never thinking once I'd ever live in France! Indirectly, my ex did me a favor cause I'm happier here. I'm glad my kids are living a French life. We love it here!

    Hello! How do we discern that this is a legitimate business? What is the Siren number? Where can we view customer reviews?

    OK, if you want peace and quiet in Paris, I know a place. It's a convent garden in the 12th arrondissement they will ask you if you want to visit the cemetery. If you do, it's one euro, if not it's free. It's 35, rue de Picpus. As it is a convent, it's not open 24/7. You can find the opening times on google maps under "Église Notre-Dame de la Paix de Picpus". It's a simple porte cochère, the garden is behind the church. With hens and beehives...

    Wow! That was awful to do! You offer them your place to sleep over and what they had in mind is to rob you! It is shocking to me to hear that it happened in Tunisia, which is generally not bad for its people. I have been to Morocco twice and the experience was awful with Taxis and swindlers. I felt I was often being stalked to be robbed. When Taxis and these robbers know you are a foreigner, you mean one thing to them: someone to rob and swindle. This happens in all countries all over the world, but I thought I didn't expect it to be that bad in Morocco. The best thing you can do if you want to visit a foreign country and be safe is to have company with you - a friend or someone from that country that you trust.

    I just came across this video. Very well presented and in my view, quite accurate. I started off living in Toulouse, and I loved that city. The only thing is it's horrendously hot in summer, and having grown up in the south in the US, I've had enough of that for a lifetime. Now I live in Normandy, and definitely prefer that. I do hope to get French citizenship after I've been here long enough, congratulations on that for you. I was fortunate enough to be able to do the drivers license exchange as my license was in a State that has the exchange available (I know that California is strangely NOT one of those States). I lived in Fontainebleau a couple of years, and liked it there, and it was good because you can easily get to Paris with a Navigo card as much as you want. The only problem being that the buses from the Gare there do not run past around 10pm. I don't recall any rude people in Paris any time I've been there, and very few rude people in France anywhere I've been. I share your annoyance when you go into a place, speak French, and the person without asking changes to English. Once in a while I'll tell them (in French) that I have no need to practice English, and prefer to speak French unless they'd like to practice their English, then I can do that. But usually I do just what you do, keep responding in French until they switch back. I know they don't mean to be rude with it, but it is still annoying. Especially since I speak relatively fast in French, and am not struggling to speak it. Yes, I have an accent, but people seem to understand me just fine, and I've done all kinds of complicated stuff in France, particularly official stuff, with no problem at all.

    Congrats! You are officially and definitely Parisian for calling anything and everything that revolves around Paris, Province! Very city dwellish and ethnocentric! How can you encompass just about anything in one area? I love how all these (anglophile) city dwellers travel the world and post their humble opinion about their surroundings. Oh, is it called "sharing one's experience" is it?

      @nicolaslegrand9414: this guy is making a lot of sense. I have lived in several places in various regions, it’s just not the same. Nothing is as cheap a you think it’s going to be. Only realestate with regards to buying is much cheaper because there is not much competition & it’s not the same in sleepy hollow. The young are leaving in droves as there is nothing much when the places closes down at midday Sunday & closed on Mondays in a lot of towns & it’s dead boring. Even people over 70 get bored. Country folk are very insular & close minded & are afraid of change & scared of losing their culture which is hilarious. The harder they try the quicker their culture will die as the young don’t stay in these small towns with nothing to do. It’s the expats who want quite lives they make these countryside towns, otherwise without the expats the countryside would have died a long time. Nice & Lyon are the other places worth living in & a couple of others but the countryside is a no no if you want convenience & fun & entertainment.
