Here I make videos about thomas the tank engine and friends. Hopefully, you guys enjoy.
Should all of the railway series be adapted?
Sorry if I sound odd in the video. I was sick, and I hope you guys enjoy the video.

a quick look at Thomas crosspromotions
with the advent of AEG, i don't think the entire Railway Series will ever be adapted but I'd most like to see adaptations of book 19 Mountain Engines
@@mayohoskotwrandttte most likely not
I had a thought of how Thomas and friends could get back on track was to get the last of the railway series that wore’t adapted for TV
@@JamesRailwayAdventure I understand that
Yes! Big time so more people could be familiar with the storylines!
I get that
Yes They Should Be.
I get that perspective
Here’s something I really want to share with you that no one talks about. So as Lego guy here I really want them to make Lego Thomas sets and it’s on my top 3 most wanted Lego themes and I did see someone make a Lego Thomas model on Lego ideas but sadly it was rejected thanks to you guessed it Mattel but I hope one day we do get them and I will share it with other fans to because I’m likely gonna be attending the Awdry extravaganza 5 for the 80th anniversary. And it’s a perfect topic for this video cause I want the sets to have every character from both the show and the books but I know some people would doubt that they’d include RWS characters but I think Lego should include them not just cause I want to see them in Lego form but I think they would also make the sets sell better. Seeing fan model videos really inspired me to make ones like them but with legos and I think lots of fans would want that too so lemme know if you also want Lego to make Thomas sets
I'd love Lego Thomas, too. Hopefully, Mattel will be approved
@ for real
🤓👆Season 6 Ep 5 at 6:10 Thomas look left which he has never done in any episode but actually looked left at Brit which was molesting a child 🤓
Wtf?
If the project tiger moth team green lit 2 whole seasons of Gauge 1 Thomas episodes, we would’ve finally got a vision of what Mountain Engines stories would’ve looked like in the style of season five.
Imagine that
Personally I agree not every story should be adapted, but some definitely got robbed, regardless I’m just glad both universes have their cool exclusive content for better or worse
@@Nic_2751 agreed
After watching this video, I don’t think ALL the stories should be adapted as it would make the Railway series go into obscurity, besides, not having all the Railway Series stories adapted, gives fans the opertunity too create their own take on how they think the exclusive stories would have been adapted. However some stories I think they SHOULD have adapted are: Super Rescue, Mountain Engines, Very Old Engines (first three), Gordon Goes Foreign, Triple Header, Stop Thief, Thomas and the Twins and Jock the New Engine.
@toby.fan9198 I do think the stories you mentioned would work quite well in an adaptation sense, I'd be interested in seeing them in a TV variation.
I really like the points you make in this. I agree with you that my love for characters like Wilbert are a cause of how niche they are. While I love his stories they definitely benefit from being locked away in a book. Maybe I would love him even more if I saw him on the big screen but there’s no way to truly know. I think the closest we will ever get to that is season 20 introducing the alresdale engines. Personally them getting introduced made me like them even more but that’s just one case and they did more with them outside the og stories. The Christopher books in away almost feel forbidden and that makes them cool Thanks for the shout out btw I appreciate it 😁
@expressbean64 No problem, man, I gotta thank you as well cause your video really got me thinking about this point as well.
I think the reason they are so loved is because they are rws exclusive But I do think some rws stories that were thought of should of been adapted
I'm not against a few more, but I do think some should stay exclusive
I say YES
I get that
Beside 2d animation is not right for Thomas and Friends at all
@JoseGarcia-i8u6p if it was in a RWS style I think it could work.
I am hoping Universal Pictures gains ownership of the Thomas and Friends Intellectual Property as soon as possible fingers crossed.
@JoseGarcia-i8u6p who knows could happen
Yes it deserves to be all Adapted if Andrew Brenner did adapted more RWS Stories then he adapted the Arlesdale stories, but if did Adapted Gordon goes Foreign in mostly like Season 20
I think if brenner did them, they'd be good.
Your argument for them not being adapted makes you sound like a marketing executive trying to squeeze pennies out of customers wallets.
@vehicleandanimalcrossovers does it? I swear it wasn't the intention, just wanting the RWS to keep value is all.
@spiderfan2003 What about the Island Of Sodor History Books?
@vehicleandanimalcrossovers I don't really think that'd work for tv
@@spiderfan2003 They could use it as inspiration for ideas.
3:18 Not true. Martha Speaks had all six books adapted for television, and they still have relevance.
To be real, I had no clue that Martha speaks had books. Which shows that those have kinda become obscure.
@spiderfan2003 You can't come to a conclusion based on your own experience alone.
@vehicleandanimalcrossovers I know I'm making a joke, but I think you can see where I come from
It feels like if it was adapted by the modern producers, it would really have to stand out as to not tarnish any more of the Rev. Wilbert Awdry's reputation by more casual viewers. It should be done by the dedicated fans that know what is special and let it show through the work and their love of the series and what makes it great.
@@TheStickCollector ya definitely something I'd feel with them being adapted.
Nah. Especially some of the later Christopher Awdry stories that were kind of boring and repetitive. We NEED Mountain Engines adapted though.
@jacksonturner242 I'd definitely be curious to see Mountain engines wonder what they'd change.
Stories like all the Culdee Fell Railway or Super Rescue should be adapted or at the very least expanded upon but there are some that I don’t think deserve to be adapted. So I guess to me it’s 50\50
@@TankEngineMedia that makes sense
I do think most railway series stories should have been adapted like Stop Thief, Triple Header, and Super Rescue. But are those that don't need an adaption. I don't think Drip Tank would be suitable for an adaption. Heck, I didn't care for the stories from More About Thomas the Tank Engine because I thought Thomas and Percys quarrel was pathetic, and the Better Late Than Never story didn't make much sense.
@EngineerRailMan it'd be cool to see them adapted
@spiderfan2003 Which ones?
@EngineerRailMan stop theif, triple header, super rescue
Yes.
Ya it sure would be neat to see them on the TV screen
Interesting thought actually... I don't think all stories should be adapted, but I certainly think more should have been..
@TheEerieMaster I'm not against seeing more, I don't think they all need to be.
I believe it would be great if all of the RWS stories were adapted. It would also be cool if they made episodes about Barry the Rescue Engine, a character created by Christopher Awdry who he was planning to write a book about, but the stupid publishers want Thomas stories only. I hate how they stopped adapting the stories when Wilbert Awdry died in 1997, it felt wrong. That's why I think Season 5 is overrated
I mean if they kept doing adaptations they would have ran out eventually.
@@spiderfan2003 And they would have done a few more if they had Christopher Awdry involved more
I feel that boat sailed twenty five years when they started making unique stories and when more unique over RWS episodes happened per season By that time I would have been too late.
@@englishtwister ya I think thar as well.
VictorTanzig is Way ahead of you there buddy
@Zephyr_Phoenix76 is he? I don't watch him , so I'm surprised he brought these points up.
@@spiderfan2003 he adds a bit of Tugs in it too so there is that part
@Zephyr_Phoenix76 gotcha
I've actually been thinking about writing an aeg version of bad look out where Thomas Percy Diesel Nia Kana Carly Sandy and Bruno take the place of Skarloey Rheneas Sir Handel and Duncan
@@MatthewMiranda-l2t that would be interesting, I wonder how that'd look.
Wonder what percent was adopted for tv and what percent the book, was based on real life events?
That's a good question I'd assume most of them 97 rws stories overall have been adapted in the TV show
@@spiderfan2003 I look at the Thomas series not like a child but question a lot of anthropomorphism etc as an adult.
@andybray9791 makes sense
I’m surprised that Stop Thief wasn’t adapted. Considering how it’s a Thomas focused story written not long before the TV series started.
@IsleofPigsStudios honestly it'd be an easy story to do as well. Wonder what it would be like in the TVS.
I could see it being adapted in s4
@@IsleofPigsStudios not to mention, in terms of stand-alone stories, it's probably the best one written by chris
Great video! You know I've been thinking about this for a while. Now it's unknown if the Marc Forster movie is gonna happen or not, but here's what I think they can do. They should make a RWS toned movie. Maybe adapt stories from the Eight Famous Engine stories, but in movie style. Something like that.
@@aaronwilliams6467 I agree, it would be awesome in a film style.
some of them yes Especialy the culdee fells tories and more Mianture raiwlay stories because it is very easy to make them in CGI if we seen season 20
Ya, that definitely would have been neat to see back then.
Even if by some once in a lifetime miracle the series was revived back to a state in which adapting more rws stories was an actual possibility. In addition to your reasoning, i have a few beliefs as to why it shouldnt/couldnt. Pretty much all of wilberts stories that werent adapted were too grandiose and would require a lot of effort for just one or a few episodes (see gordon goes foreign, super rescue, the culdee fell railway, little old engines). That OR they just arent necessary because many of the first stories of books are just introductions where nothing important happens and it can easily be squished into the next episode without losing any integral content. Speaking of nothing important happening, i dont think many of christophers books would work either because 90% of his stories are boring af. i know its not his fault because pretty much every character is fully developed by the time he took over. But this results in the vast majority of his books containing all "slice of life" stories, which dont get me wrong are nice and every once and a while, but when you have like 7 straight books of them it gets tiring. In addition to this, i cant put my finger on why this is but chris's stories dont have the same charm as wilberts do
@@christianpark5155 I do agree it'd be a big task to do Wilbert remaining stories, though I do think there are some good Christopher stories that can work.
@@spiderfan2003 james and the diesel engine, thomas and the twins, and some of the ffarquahar branch ones go hard. Other than that i don't get much enjoyment out of them
@christianpark5155 fair enough
Great video! I think while it be cool if they were adapted i should say no! because its fun to go out of your way and more story's to find and i think it give the railway series the need to still be around the show is cool and all but its not a special then finding the books were they actually come from!
Agreed my man.
Great video my friend. While I agree in principle that they should be adapted, the question I have is, given today's programming, could they be adapted successfully by Mattel? Fan channels would do them justice but I'm not sure about the people who actually own Thomas and Friends. Interesting video that's certainly got me thinking ☺️🚂🚃
Thanks for watching, and ya, I feel Mattel probably wouldn't do the best with the adaptions.
Simple answer: most of them SHOULD be adapted to television because they deserve more publicity. 📺
@TrevortheTrainFan that's a completely fair point, and it would be awesome to see how it'd be done.
0:23 "What is the name of the helicopter🚁 who is a member of the Sodor Search and Rescue team?" Harold.
That's him
@spiderfan2003 That's why he's my favorite, and all the other 🚁helicopters are all my favorites, and so is Harold, too.
Yeah, I wasn’t too fond of the Steam Team either and pretty much agree with what others have said in the comments. One idea I felt for a steam team is the original 11 boys(Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby, Duck, Donald, Douglas, Oliver) and Lady, making 12 members. I’d still have them cross over to other branches of Sodor sometimes so the setting doesn’t seem too small. That’s just me though.
Tuat definitely would be interesting
@@spiderfan2003 Thank you. I did say this in a different comment but I think it would be interesting if Lady was also an ambassador for Shining time.
Very good video dude i never thought of the idea not many Halloween episodes but when you put it like that ya that's really weird either way tho great video!
@stitchunderground626 thanks you my dude. I'm always happy when somebody looks at my content
I think for spooky episodes in CGI the writers probably didn't want their younger audience to get traumatized but in non spooky episodes and movies there has been darker moments from the past that aren't sugar-coated so quickly. Model Series Thomas has had more moments that aren't scary but can still strike fear into our souls when we were kids. Surprisingly in S23 we never got any or 1 Christmas episode.
Makes sense, I feel mattel doesn't like taking risks with the series
It don't seem that there were a lot of christmas episodes later on as the show progressed. In the first few seasons the show would end with a christmas episode though season three for the US dub was Thanksgiving which Thanksgiving episodes are less prevent in the Thomas series though just like the other person comment Thanksgiving isn't a popular UK holiday either. As for season 4 I don't think there's a christmas episode and season 5 the only winter episode was Snow, but not a christmas themed episode. Season 7,8 and onwards I don't remember a lot of christmas episodes but then again I didn't watch as much of those later seasons a frequently to have seen them all. Though I remember a few snow themed but no specifically christmas themed.
@chasepounds1099 you're wrong. Actually, every season with the exceptions of 4,5, and 13 have at least 1 or more Christmas episodes
seasons 14-21 have multiple christmas episodes per season with each on having a corresponding dvd to accompany it
@tallboiedd2846 Honestly, it's funny they did like 4 a year for the dvd
@ even funnier when you realize they did a christmas dvd almost every year from 2007-2017 in the US (expect for 2008)
Another reason, is the fact that Halloween isn’t that big of a deal in the UK….
@bladeobrian2144 Wait, is it not, I'm american, so I wouldn't know
And reason i could give you why a thomas and tugs would not work officially not even as cameos it is mostly becasue of how britt hated tugs at the time and because of a firewall conflict with her and mitton which is why she never allowed mitton to use cameos from the tugboat characters (faceless characters or faceless versions or repainted versions of them dosen't count as for the latter is to avoid copyright) plus not only that there was also a firewall llegal issues with the companies of thomas and tugs cc and britt Allcroft company sunbow and gullane and bmg/sony music and hit/mattel and nope i nope i don't think mattel will have permission from the bmg to use the characters
@@chavopatyfanstudios2005 that's interesting
Would you a video of why a thomas and tugs crossover wouldn't work officially
Maybe I could do it someday but don't expect it soon.
Another great video my friend. Really enjoyed your analysis on this and it's a good Halloween/spooky themed video. Well done ☺️🚂🚃
@TheGingerEngine thanks man, I thought a bit outside the box with this one.
Awesome Job Also I Love Thomas And Friends And Halloween
@EwanFanstudios I'm glad to hear man.
Solid ranking however for the great race i actually do like that the entire thing isn’t the railway show. I love tournament arcs in shows and some of the best parts are the character arcs and seeing why the end goal means so much for the characters. When I first saw it I was disappointed with the lack of the tournament but after several rewatches i appreciate the Sodor sections so much more. I completely get wanting to see more, hell I’d love to see that aspect get expanded on. Let me see the semi-finals or tryouts.
@expressbean64 interesting, I honestly never thought of it that way. I always glad to hear an opposing thought
It’s ironic that the show is 40 this year
