I think the script was bad. The older 007 could have sneaked into Zorin's organization (a' la LICENCE TO KILL), he could have been laughed at by Q for not being up to date and not knowing anything about microchips and he could have had some trouble fighting against a much younger Zorin. The action could have been adjusted to an older actor (like in NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN) and I am pretty sure, that there were attractive actresses of 45 to 50 available. I think Moore was in good shape for his age and he played the part with his usual charme. In contrast to the obviously bored Connery in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER he still played his part well. EON f***ed it up by writing a script for a man of 35 and giving the part to a guy nearing 60. That's the fault of A VIEW TO A KILL.
Yes
Thanks to each one of you for your Christmas and New Year wishes. I hope you all will enjoy a good year 2025.
Happy new year!
I strongly agree
Mark Edlitz's name rang a bell, but only when he mentioned the titles of his books did I remember him. Thank you for providing this insight into Mark's work and his motivation behind his work.
Great broadcast really enjoyed it Sean Cronin is a Great actor and a great guy Enjoyed the broadcast. Thanks so much for sharing 👍
Well he could've hit the water surface very hard from that height, there's a Bond game called Everything or Nothing where the villain was apparently mentored by Zorrin and tries to get his revenge on Bond for killing him.
In it's base simplistic explanation to anyone about to watch that never heard of it before? Spy Action.
Only two words? That's tough. I'll try ... luxurious, international.
British Espionage
Great two words.
Madden is SCOTTISH! As Fleming wrote of Bond’s heritage.
Yes please a stunning Bond ❤❤
Don’t forget to subscribe.
I agree 100%. Read all the books and seen the movies multiple times, this one the most. Overrall, it is the best Bond movie. It is the most similar film to the book and best adapted.... right up to final. It has the ultimate score from 12 times Bond composer John Barry. The main theme oozes Bond and the song is a classic, was famously boosted in a Guinness commercial and even repreived in No time to die. Bond has more hand to hand fights in this flic than any other, the scenery and location photography is exceptionally cinematic in scope and the colourful style didnt resurface till Skyfall. Lazenby has an awesome cast to support him, probably the best Blofeld, Bond girl and one of the best villain lairs, straight from Flemings words. Loads of stunts, skiing, bob run chases and film techniques never used before. This movie was ahead of its time - The film even has poetry! IMO of course. Seen all the Bonds at the cinema and OHMSS was the first; maybe that gives it the edge to just push it above the others so close behind it!
Thank you for this entry, Vicky! I subscribe to the choice of allies you all made. Vijay, Leiter (the Hedison one) and, of course, Kerim Bey are prime examples. I was surprised by Terry's choice, because I thought Bond girls would be excluded here. However, Terry's arguments are very good and convincing. My top pick would be Kerim Bey as well, and if I include a Bond girl, my choice is Pam Bouvier. She is at first a bit reserved when she meets him, but when she realises that he also goes for Sanchez, she joins forces with him.
Loving the tee-shirt Vicky!
Very enjoyable video! I very much enjoyed hearing your and your guests' opinions with respect to Naomi and other favorite Bond women. I love the Ray Harryhausen films and "Golden Voyage" is my favorite! Munro is wonderful in that film. Interesting observation you made about the crossover with Jane Seymour in their respective Bond/Harryhausen films. Talking of Bond crossover, there's loads in "Dracula A.D. 1972". In addition to Munro and Lee, Michael Kitchen and Christopher Neame are both in that film as well - Kitchen played Tanner in the Brosnan films and Neame played Fallon in "License to Kill".

As cool as it would be if Bailey was considered, I personally cant see him wanting to be tied to such a role that could take him away from other potential projects.
''Salt erosion'' 😆
TLD is a grower. It took quite some time until I enjoyed it, but now I hold it in high regard.
They wasted Mr Hinx.
I would never approve Jonathan Bailey as 007 (specially if he does a performance as 007 turning gay).
That’s not what I was suggesting. He is an actor.
Tom cruise is 62 and still making the mission impossible movie's
I always felt like Zorin didn't have much scenes or dialogue. Especially in the beginning of AVtaK
Definite possibility! Let's just hope EON have a Bond film in the pipeline for him to screen-test for!
I'm sure it's a tease... but he ticks all the boxes as you say
Interesting. I thought he might still have a chance at the role, but he’d be 40+ by then, and the commitment will be 15 yrs. Not sure if BB will go for it. He’s got a much more mature look than five years ago, but that could be good for him. I didn’t think the martini video was a good thing. It seemed awkward. 🤷🏻♀️
Neil Edge, now that Ian Fleming's novels are sliding into public domain, how does that effect future Bond films? Casino Royale is in public domain now, Live and Let Die will be in pd end of the year, Moonraker next year, etc. With the copyright expired, how can EON prevent competitors? Will independent James Bond films challenge EON? What prevents an empowered filmmaker like Christopher Nolan from moving in and taking over ?
Great video loved it brilliant Thanks for sharing 👍
Can't wait to get my copy, great interview with Phil 👏
Another interesting and informative video. Moonraker is the movie I've seen the most on the Big Screen. Great book, by the way.
The Lincoln Continental was the ' in car ' of that time . A big , grand , luxurious and handsome sedan that equaled almost any thing of the same class and quality from this side of the Atlantic .
Great video, love Pietros enthusiasm, i think a new film won't arrice until next year, the earliest. I hope you achieve everything you set out to do this year.
Happy New Year to you, Vicky! I hope you can put your resolutions into practice. When I think about myself, I plan to watch more Bond movies than last year. I honestly don't remember if I watched any last year. A good resolution would be to subscribe to your TBRU channel. However, as I did so last year, it does not make for a 2024 resolution. I'm afraid Pietro's resolution won't become true and we won't see Bond 26 on the silver screen this year. However, I also think that there should be some concrete announcement from Broccoli and Wilson. I can see Peter's point as to the amount of Bond movies on TV. It is true, one can show/watch films or series to death. The same goes for band concerts. What I avoid is Bond movies on German TV, because firstly, I prefer original versions, and secondly, I don't like interruptions caused by commercials. Add to this that TV stations stop a film when end credits roll, and these credits are imo part of a film.
For this year today 13/01/2024, here’s a mathematical equation that equals 🟰 007: 13 * 01 + (2+0) - (2*4)=007
Brosnan has the best bond look overall,...
Merry Christmas to you, Vicky, and all members of TBRU!
Awesome very cool love that Merry Christmas to all thanks for sharing ❤️ 👍
Moore was certainly NOT too old in AVTAK. He was dapper as hell and eternally watchable. One of my favorite Moore performances, actually
No. It's awful.
It is a film of its time, but Orlov is a classic villain. Thanks Pietro for sending me over!
It's the most underrated bond movie ever!
No it doesn't. Terrible, schizophrenic Bond movie.
I’m not sure 🤔 but wasn’t also “The Living Daylights” another part of Octopussy?
Ian Fleming's novel is called Octopussy and the Living Daylights.
I don't have the impression that OP suffers from too little love. Of course, OP contains these comedy elements that everybody loves to hate. However, it also looks grander again when compared to the more down-to-earth FYEO. Kamal Khan, Gobinda and Orlov are good villains I also enjoy the inclusion of Indian tennis star Vijaj Amritraj (is my spelling correct?). Bond's clown costume is an acquired taste, but then again, if there is one costume in which you are inconspicuous in a circus, it is a clown costume. Some side notes: the scene in which Bond tells the tiger, "Sit!" has a correspondingly silly sentence in the German version. Bond tells the tiger, "Du gehörst in den Tank!" ("You belong into a tank!"). This is a reference to a petrol commercial that has the tag line "Pack den Tiger in den Tank!". Steven Berkoff apparently talked negatively about the Bond films; however, he gladly took the paycheck. This irritated me a bit, but I must say that he delivers a good performance. Later, we saw him as a Russian officer in Rambo - First Blood Part II.
Interesting about the German version of 'Sit!'. I remember the 'Put a Tiger in your Tank' ads from days of old.
Yes it was the best Bond.
Gimmicky. I completely agree.
I’m never disconnecting from James Bond 007, for 37 years now I have been collecting anything to do with him and since 2001 when I became a member on eBay, I’ve spent over AU $100,000 on any 007 items
This comment hasn’t got any connection to the video. Thx
I think Natalya is the most under-rated Bond girl of all time and my second favorite after Melina Havelock in 'For your Eyes only'
