There is NO WAY a book can bend inside a case enough to cause any problem. Stop being wussies.

A couple years ago, CGC marked an entire submission of mine as 9.0 (25 books). I called and talked to several CS agents and the standard line was: that can't happen. Not only did they refuse to admit blame, ***they apparently had no process for investigating my claim***. If they think I'm lying, why not take the slabs in, crack them, and investigate? What kind of company isn't interested in finding out flaws in their process?? I cracked and re-submitted those same books (no pressing in-between or anything) and most of them came back 9.8. There are even a few unique books (number on the cover) that only have 2 census entries: a 9.0 and a 9.8, both of which denote the unique number. So with this latest drama, I would be surprised if they do anything to compensate. There's something about the culture there which lends toward them not accepting responsibility. And this bending issue is much worse than losing $600 on a submission: at least they didn't damage my books back then.

I was unable to buy the books I really wanted when I was in my 20’s and in the Army, but now in my 50’s I can purchase the books I’ve always wanted. Family is always first, but now I have more fun money for myself. 😂 Great show!! Salute!

Hey fellas, I’ve been an audio listener since your beginnings as I loved Josh’s content from the jump. So I have an FF22 with a Stan Lee sig inside the book. My wife is a photographer so I plan on letting her take some high res pics of the signature so I can hang it displayed next to the book which I do plan on getting slabbed. I want to slab it to verify it is in fact, Stan Lee’s signature so that when I do leave my books to my kids they might be able to see an easier return with legitimacy attached to it. With that said, I plan on sending it to CBCS as per your last episode I can no longer give CGC my money until they improve their faults. If the only purpose is to verify the signature and I don’t plan on selling then it’s time to give CBCS their time to shine. Also FF52 is criminally undervalued and I think it will pop when we have him back in the MCU proper. I was in a live sale the other night and Mr. Longbox was in there and tried saying hi but I think my comments were getting filtered. Anywho, fantastic show as always. Keep up the great work and thanks for letting those without this relationship in the middle of nowhere, enjoy yours.

Totally agree with your perspective on collecting. For me, as a man of faith, I too believe blessings come in many ways, including little hobbies like comics. Also, two things: 1. FF 52 is so criminally undervalued. It’s monumentally culturally significant. 2. RDJ as Black Panther!?? Freaking hilarious 😂

Please don’t cut up the book just buy a modern book Magnetic Case and display it in that $12-$13 they’re UV protected That way you can keep the book un encapsulated to show and tell the story and protect the book

I’m cautious of what I buy, because what I’ve learned about myself is once I have that second comic from the series, that second figure that collection, that second card from that generation, I feel compelled to seek out everything else from that certain group, which can be a considerable financial investment. That being said, as far as comics go, there’s two series I will always keep my eye out for, and that is Marvel’s What If and The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition as I love how all the covers connect to create one massive image

Oh its real... its really real. My last order of 50 was all bent and most damaged. Now im starting to look through comics from earlier this year and im finding a bunch. Sucks!

I run into this problem a lot I want some golden age books but people ask too much for reader copies not key just 1.0 stuff like I’m trying to get a Blonde Phantom book Timley girl crime fighter character from Marvels golden age I see really nobody talk about the character at all so I thought lower grade stuff would be under the radar but nope someone tried to tie Sydney Sweeney and Taylor Swift to a casting rumor for this character and asking prices jumped up I did buy a Fight Comics 55 this month I was wanting something Jungle and Rulah is a little pricey but I got Tiger Girl it looks to be a 6.5-7.0 I have a go collect question so sometimes I look at it to determine a fair price range I don’t pay for it so I can’t see everything but is there a better way to determine fair pricing if the last high grade sold 10 years ago for $500 or under? Cause like if the $500 copy was a 9.0 but someone wanted $1,200 for the 7.0 if there’s no last sale of the 9.0 how do we know if that’s a fair asking range? I do sometimes use eBay last sold but sometimes each sale is $200 lower or higher than the last someone sees $450 and buys but the next one could go for $600

This might be the nail in the coffin for CGC. Not that they will go out of business, but this will open the window to real competition. Everyone thought that CBCS was done once CGC started verifying signatures but CBCS has just been chugging along, they have better quality slabs even before this, and no scandals that we know of. Now if the market could change and starts to see the value in CBCS that could change things. If you find a Spider-man #252 9.8 that has been slabbed recently, one from CGC and one from CBCS which one are you going to buy trusting that the comic is a 9.8 not just on the label?

If my sole goal is to protect a book, I started using the magnetic comic cases. At least for the time being. They’re crystal clear, similar dimensions of a slab, and UV protected so I can display them with piece of mind.

Ohh that shaking around can’t be good for the book Reapertate728 did a video and his Vault of Horror was shaking around in the case like that I had heard this was an issue back in May some people did say that it was happening sooner than that and it seems to be an issue still currently I’m a bit concerned this isn’t a more public statement from CGC MakeRoomCollectibles did a video 2 months back talking about how CGC gave him a hard time and telling him it was normal or within reason He unboxed his retuned books only for those books to be bent still he’s a very good example of CGC knowing the books were retuned for the bending and they let his submission leave with more bending

Send in your books to CBCS, at least when they slab they aren’t damaging your books. If it stays in your collection who cares if you get a slightly higher resell value out of a CGC banana slab. 😂

Just a quick peek but thought I saw a spine tick on your Detective Comic 575. Looked to be in lower area. Similar to where I have one on 2 of my Venom books. For mine I took a flash light to the front and can see those ticks way better.

You all aren’t even collecting comics anymore, you’re collecting CGC slabs and grades. What about all that art sealed away just waiting to be cracked and resubmitted. 😂 🐑

You guys are fucking ridiculous with this anti CGC crusade. This is a bunch of bullshit and you anti CGC trolls are just on a constant hunt to ruin them. Just fucking pathetic! As this point it’s simply popular to crap on CGC, so just baking up new issues that don’t exist.

This whole thing has me reconsidering CBCS. I've had 5/7 books damaged to some degree with my first ever submission.

There is also incorrect batman Legacy numbering since #140 that still exist if look at any issue since then there all incorrect

If this didn't occur to older slabs (unless I'm reading the situation wrong), I wonder if CGC didn't 'cheap out' on the 'raw materials' used to make the slabs? Obviously speculating to a large degree it just seems odd problem to occur now (unless it's a design flaw if the slabbing method has changed).

I don't grade my books much but I might have to start picking up more cbcs books to crack, speaking with your dollar n all.

CGC is practically begging PSA to come in and gobble up a huge market share. I'll buy already graded CGC books but I'll be damned if I ever send CGC one of my valuable raw books.

Man that Elizabeth Olsen autograph 🔥🤌 I almost got to meet her during infinity war she was a guest at a local show her autograph asking price was very cheap $75 but she canceled cause filming schedule so the show refunded my autograph and photo pre purchase I want one of her autograph cards but I don’t want to spend $300+ One of my regrets I bought a FF-48 for $150 back around 2011 I saw another book I wanted sold it and now you can’t touch FF48 for that price..had I waited I probably could’ve put that FF-48 towards a Daredevil 1 I have a question I also believe that Green Lantern issue starts the Bronze Age but Batman 234 is listed as the 1st Silver Age appearance of Two-Face CBCS calls it 1st appearance since the Golden Age which maybe seems more accurate if you’re a year into the Bronze Age at Batman 234 Any reason why it’s a silver Age appearance? Also how did they get away with the 25¢ cover prices because in later issues Batman is a regular 20¢ book after switching from sometimes 15¢ sometimes 25¢

Also I agree with you Age of Ultron very underrated I love Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch and if she wants to come back i hope we see her in X-men and possibly Avengers

This happened to a Golden Age book as well on the CGC boards the poster sent their Diary Secrets 21 Matt Baker cover The person sent the book back because Newton Rings and when it returned they had a curved book in the case

CBCS is criminally underappreciated. The slab is top notch, and since last October when the changed labels, the overall product is outstanding. I use both, but pulling for CBCS recently. The community must get over this stupid (sorry) bias. Competition is great and necessary.

I don't and will never send a Comic Book to be graded. I've been collecting since 74, many Gem's, some not in the greatest condition. We actually read our books. Many of my friends sold and traded, not me. I wanted complete runs. When the bags and boards came out I was all down for it. The boxes were the next step. I don't like the look of a slab, and I sure wouldn't trust CGC. They have found ways to manipulate the market, twice! First with the 9.9, then the 10.

100% agree on both. Great books either way. But man, those sleepers are LEGIT sleepers. I got a Strange Tales Annual 2 in a 3.0 a while back that I’m hopeful to CPR to a 5.0/5.5. That and FF Annual 1 are criminally undervalued.
