Really enjoyed this video :) I think UA-cam is missing this style, the real authentic passionate content, where you can really connect with someone’s personality, good job Spro
Con Hunt, fun times for sure, thanks for sharing. Also, that lady at the end was being unreasonable and she seemed to have a really bad attitude, glad you did not do business with Mrs. Grump!
My main thing I learned at cons is if someone wants to sell at sticker, come back Sunday. Vendors usually come down because they wanna sell and don’t wanna load all that stuff back into the van. Awesome channel 👍
this is so chill n calming. I love marvel but i got into the lore thru the movies so im hoping to learn more abt the comics and the comic community in general thru you!
IM good at removing those stains on the first reverse flash key. it would definitely improve the overall colors to perform a proper clean on it. But with all the keys you get make sure you are looking on cgc pop report. gotta get those low pop keys for good return on your assets.
First time seeing one of your videos. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially when you price checked. I don’t understand why some sellers are so insulted when GoCollect or Key Collector come out. I’m only doing my due diligence as a buyer.
The one thing I would say that would put the video into the top tier for me would be instead of the music playing when your looking at the book it would be enjoyable to hear a voice over from you explaining what your doing and what your thinking while looking at the book.
i will be doing this for future youtube shorts/instagram reels, but in a full video it might come across as too choppy because i wouldnt necessarily have enough to say for every time im at a box. and to be quite honest sometimes im just looking through and not thinking of much and just waiting for something to jump out at me! either way thanks for the suggestion :)
Great honest vid man. Yeah some sellers are just tryin to squeeze juice from a raisin. In turn seeing how the interaction was with the theBluechipcomic deserves a IG follow for that one. Happy Collecting brother! Cheers,
Awesome video! I'll never get to attend these kinds of events due to me living to far north in Canada, so seeing these kinds of videos are very interesting to me. Good stuff and take care.
Con prices are ridiculous. I hate haggling so I just tell them what i'd buy it for. They can then take it or leave it and 90% of the time they leave it lol.
thanks! i bought them raw at my LCS. truth be told, the Hulk 340 is the cleanest comic I’ve ever seen, I never ever say this but it deserves a 9.9 or a 10 🤣
Great video ! Really enjoyed the hunting for books and seeing you bargain. Those prices were obviously inflated, as you mentioned. Its important to not buy into the FOMO and be patient for the right book for the right price.
@@SprosComics Yeah, the nature of sellers is like that. I really hate seeing raw books priced at graded prices too. Saying a book is a 9.8 and it actually being a graded 9.8 are very different things. Sadly, I think that's where we are at in terms of the pricing of these books.
Great vid! Was a ton of fun "walking" with you through the con. Just one thing: I started using Key Collector only recently, but I noticed that, when I entered my collection of slabs into the app, the "current value" would auto-populate with the Key Collector values at certain grades. A 2.0 would auto-populate with the "Low" value, a 6.0 auto-populated with the "Mid" value, and a 9.2 auto-populated with the "High" value. So, if the "High" value is meant to indicate the value for a 9.2, then in cases such as at 14:15 in the vid, the vendor's price in excess of Key Collector's "High" value may be worth it if the book is a 9.6-9.8 candidate. But in that particular case, I'd agree; $200 sounds more like a slabbed 2021 price. Just my $0.02. Nice adds!
ya i’d say the gamble isn’t worth the premium unless it’s an absolute major key/grail. 1st impulse isn’t worth much more than $30 for me anyways. either way, good to note & thank you for sharing!
Sellers prices are always high. If you’re only there to buy books to flip them it’s harder than just buying comics because you love collecting. That’s a piece of what’s hurting the hobby. Those who love to just collect are being priced out because too many are only into it for flipping or the higher ups doing the same with over hyping books.
people dont know how to buy to flip either. 2021 screwed everyone over. people were paying insane amounts for books in 2021 and now that books are far less valuable those people are trying their best to at least make it back even. ive had some bad buys in my time, at the end of the day you just gotta roll with the punches and make it out with what you can or hold for the long run. people buy to flip when books are at their peak because it's "trending up" but the margins at that point are small. you gotta be ahead of the market to truly be in the business of flipping.
HAHA trueeeeee. I did snag some good pick ups in $5 bins, but my camera was bugging during that segment so wasn’t worth posting. think I left with about 20-25 books. only 3 major keys
@@SprosComics I do it every time too we’ll not to your degree but I can’t stay away from the wall books. Also trying to complete a daredevil 1-100ish run myself. #3 is actually my favorite yellow suit book.
ya it's a pretty decent copy! usually i prefer my pc books to be higher grade, but for some reason the corner rip didnt bother me as much as i would expect it to.
Great Video. This is sad that now the dealers are exploiting RAW books and charging graded prices. Be a smart shopper and don't give a dealer any of your hard earned cash if they are not willing to negotiate. Hearing this insane pricing disappoints me with dealers.
pricing is nuts. I think I’ve noticed that dealers don’t want to submit books in to CGC and pay that premium so slowly over time they just keep pushing the prices closer & closing the gap between raw and graded books. 2021 obviously didn’t help and everyone was buying everything for anything.
@@SprosComics That is the dilemma we face. Smart buyers vs. FOMO buyers/Pay at any price buyers. This is never good for the Raw book market as we are basically telling the dealers that is ok to throw us over a barrel. Sad that we have the power to change this but don't. As buyers we hold the power of the wallet which is what we can use to bring these prices down to a realistic levels.
Looks like negotiating with book dealers nowadays is more difficult than it was when I collected starting in 1992. Picked up an ASM 300 in VF+ for 30.00 then 😮
So the DD was like 2x graded price? Remember when DD 1 was the affordable key? Wish I’d grabbed it a few years ago. At least the dealers seemed nice. A lot of them can be pretty crummy from my experience.
It is very frustrating when dealers have books priced way above market value or at Covid prices. If I can buy the same book for less on ebay, then why are you here selling your books???
i think some dealers don't update prices in their inventory and just bounce back and forth between cons without updated pricing. keeping prices up to date is a lot of work, but moving inventory in and out is always the goal with a retailer. no disrespect to the dealer at the end of this video, but should they have looked up current pricing on that book i think we could've landed somewhere. but they wanted to negotiate off their sticker price & not current market value. respect to the gentleman with the ASM 194 who negotiated with me based on the book's market value and not his outdated sticker price!
Really enjoyed this video :) I think UA-cam is missing this style, the real authentic passionate content, where you can really connect with someone’s personality, good job Spro
appreciate the comment bro ♥️
Love when you call out the prices to the vendors
Good video! It’s crazy that dealers are selling raw at graded prices, pretty crazy.
Even more ridiculous when nothing is priced and they look it up on the spot

Nice Video! 😊- Subbed!
Amen on your talk at your lunch break. Dealer reputation is everything. Treat your customers right and don't be greedy.

say no to FOMO! conventions also tend to have some inflated pricing as well. dealers know that people are coming in with full pockets.
