What's on my plate ?
Is about figuring out what to make for dinner. We all go through it, not knowing what to cook. So everyday I'm like, what can I make tonight, what are we going to have for dinner.? Well I need to get motivated otherwise I'm not excited to cook and that's because who wants to eat the same thing constantly. I get motivated from a magazine, a TV show or even a commercial. These things inspire me to get creative and come up with my own recipes or make the recipe from the magazine. So on my channel I will be trying to INSPIRE YOU ! I will be sharing my personal recipes and I will be sharing recipes I come across in a magazine, cookbook, or a food show I watched. When I make something that is delicious I like to share it with everyone so why not share it with you. - Olga

New Years Cake

New Year's Cake
Ingredients:
1- 8oz container unsalted whipped butter
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
4 eggs separated yolk and whites
( Egg whites whipped) (Yolks go in sugar and butter mixture)
8oz or 10 oz vanilla yogurt
1 tsp vanilla extract
(Optional:Powdered sugar to sprinkle on top at the end)
Bake at 370° for approximately 50 minutes. But before the 50 minutes please make sure you pierce the cake with a skewer or a toothpick to ensure if it still needs to be cooked up till 50 minutes.
I usually put a coin in the cake. the coin is wrapped in foil and baked in the cake. That is my tradition. For this recipe you do not need to add a coin if you make this cake.

The Tradition of the coin in the cake is from the Greek Orthodox religion, we make this cake or a bread that bakes with the coin. Its really nice to read up on it and maybe its something you would like to incorporate into your own tradition. I like to follow many different traditions it doesn't matter where they come from. HAPPY NEW YEAR to Everyone.
This cake is like a pound cake, very moist. Enjoy with your coffee or tea or a glass of milk.

@ tried to make my sister in laws Salisbury steak. Hers is melt in your mouth delicious. The gravy I made was awesome….shallots, garlic deglazed with red wine, then added beef bouillon with water and flour. It was great! The cauliflower with guanciale was also delish. The meat, was like shoe leather. I seared on high heat, put in the gravy in the oven at 250 for 1 1/2 hours. That’s how she does hers…maybe I didn’t tenderize enough with the mallet???
@@denisesorensen9568 Well Salisbury steak sounds delicious. Sometimes recipes don't come out the way we want. But if all the other ingredients that were in the dish were amazing it has to be the meat and it is not the way you cooked the meat. I'm finding when I buy certain meats if they are not organic they taste odd and they do not taste good after cooked. So it might not be the way you cooked it maybe it's the actual piece of meat. Did you buy organic? If not go ahead and try it again I bet you it's going to come out great.

I use canned sliced potatoes and honestly you cannot tell the difference….then your cooking time is way less and the prep time is way less too!

Once you add cheese to scalloped potatoes, you then have au gratin potatoes.
Have you actually seen 1/4th of a tspn? It's nothing when spreading it over 10 potatoes. More like a full tspn. And I would put a full cup of cheese. Also some sour cream in the sauce bumps up the flavor and partial boiling of the potatoes cuts the baking time down by 45 minutes. But thanks for the base of this dish. My hubs wants me to make this and I wanted to see another version. The onions in this one is excellent!
@@TerriW1203 Hi, thank you so much for your comment. I should have said sprinkle salt and pepper on and not actually giving the measurement of a 1/4 teaspoon. And you're right if you parboil the potatoes it cuts down on the cooking time by alot. The reason why it took so long is because I cooked it at a low heat. And I cooked it at a low heat because when you have a dish like scalloped potatoes with milk(or cream) it comes out much better slow cooked. But of course only cook till you can pierce with a fork.
