Just an amazing piece of 60s space age technology - the circuitry is something else!

Thanks Gary. To be honest, it's been a while since I recorded this, and I'm afraid I didn't keep a record of was in the chain. The guitar has a lovely tone and sustain itself, and I'm pretty sure I was using a vintage TS/9 Tube Screamer at the time, through a small Fender Champion 40. With the amp mic'd up and recorded through a Scarlett 2i2, for the mix and the addition of that big reverb for the final Loaded chord. Hope that helps!

That's a good question. I'm afraid to my amazement, it's been nearly 3 years since I did the video, and I didn''t keep a note of all the settings for each of the three tracks. But you can see the main settings for the "wow" break in the final 15 seconds of the video. I also used the Master Tuning to create the bass guitar (down an octave from standard tuning). I can't remember the settings for the verse and chorus riffs, but they're pretty much what you would get from an 80s Chorus, like a Boss CE-2. Hope that helps!

That's very kind of you. Though nothing beats the original Johnny Marr version! That middle 8 from :37 was just me trying to fill in for the 2 (or 3!) guitar tracks on the studio version. With capo on the 2nd fret, it's just two standard shaped chords: the top four strings of an F#m chord moving into a D major chord, with a 2-note riff running down the top E string from 7th to 6th fret. You're right, that would probably be better explained in tab! So, if that doesn't help, send me an email to info@godsownguitars.com, and I'll send something through!

This is Noel Gallagher's 1967 Gibson Firebird, played live and on the first two Oasis albums - when Gem Archer joined Oasis in 1999, he also played reversed Firebirds, but not the one that Noel had played.

Hi Rachmad. You're absolutely right - Gem Archer did play non-reversed Firebirds in his time with Oasis. But this one is the one Noel Gallagher owned and played live and on the first two Oasis albums, long before Gem joined the band.

Respect to you! Totally agree about the extra ring you get with the open strings playing live. I've always struggled to work out how the studio version sounds so muted, so gave it a go without open strings. I'd much rather hear a live version - your live version - any day! 👋👋👋😀

Thanks very much! I did record the backing chords for both first, still using the same Guitar Organ - the technology didn't go so far as pre-programming. That said, for the Tetris song, it was just a question of pressing the open string buttons that you can see set below the neck pick-up, rather than having to play anything on the fretboard. So, if I wasn't using a pick, then I guess you could play the two together at the same time. One for the skilled operator!

Best search UA-cam for other Marauder videos - I found two within seconds (Trogly and Guitarpoint), both putting 70s Marauders through some overdrive. Hope that helps!

Orlando’s a great player - really brings out the tone of that President Bass!

Goodness, it's really so long ago, I can't remember! The TS/9 is from 1983, the one with the JRC4558D chip. I'm playing it through nothing like what Noel would have played through at the time. It's a Fender Champion 40, no valves, just solid state through a single 12" speaker. I'm playing it through the clean channel, just using the TS/9 for the overdrive. In terms of settings, I really can't remember, but it was just some experimentation to get to something that sounded close enough. Have never tried a TS808, but am sure you can get close!

Noel didn't use a tubescreamer until around 2000 anyway. 1994 was the Wem amp/Marshalls/Orange/Boss DD-3/Space Echo.

Yes - amazing that of all the songs, it had to be this one! But I suppose equally amazing is the tonal versatility of the Red Special - not a bad impersonation of a Tele 😀

It's an Eastwood Airline 2P DLX, one of the earliest that Eastwood produced after they agreed the rights to recreate the Airline models in 2004. The more famous namecheck for this is of course the original 1964 Montgomery Ward Airline J. B. Hutto Res-O-Glass that Jack White made famous in The White Stripes. Legendary guitar!

It really is - and in this performance it's loaded with a Fishman Pro-Rep-102 humbucker, which works beautifully to enhance the tone of the Little Martin.

Thanks so much! That Les Paul has an amazing tone. Apart from that, no other effects apart from the drive channel on the single-speaker Fender Champ 12, the last of the valve Champs. Just a fantastic little amp!

And that’s all you really need. Wish I could get that tone with my live set up, Telecaster and Fender Champion 100, but I guess I need to spend the cash for that!!
