Maverick Dirt Biking with Lucy the Red Heeler Dog
Переглядів 1665 місяців тому
As I was headed for home after wintering in Florida, I stopped in to spend some time with Crampy Longhorn and his family down in Phoenix. One afternoon I took Maverick and Lucy to a nearby open area. The year before my daughter had found Lucy as a lost confused puppy. I knew that Lucy and Maverick were meant to be together!

I bought the trailer in the summer of 2021 from Crampy Longhorn. Last year's national trip covered 4 months, 19 States, and 17k miles. I am currently out for 6 months. My trip has taken me from Washington State down to Arizona, then East along the Southern border to Florida. Took me a month to get to Florida as I made a number of stops. I will have spent 3 months in Florida and have really enjo...

Son of Crampy Longhorn, and the youngest member of the Marlboro Men is Maverick. When I first met Maverick he only rode dirt bikes to make Dad happy. But, something happened and Maverick fell in love with the group and the PNW. He's gone from a 50cc to the 150 in just a couple years and is mastering skills at a young age. TigerTanker's Moto Music 10: The 180 MPH Drive to Moab Pt 2
The sole is glued on. Not stitched on.
No. The SRS sole is glued on, but neither the SG12 or Crossfire TA have glued on soles. They are "welted" soles. I've had the SRS in every pair separate at about 18-24 months, as eventually a combo of water and heat kill the glue. But the two in this video are free from that risk.
@@dagsterblaster4973 I have the sidi crossfire 3 ta and the sole keeps coming off. There's glue residue on it so not sure what you mean?
I'm actually looking for a good spot that is not covered in snow, any idea where this may be around the area? ua-cam.com/video/H8L9j9LsnuI/v-deo.html
Eastern Cascades now have places that are either clear of snow or almost so. But, the trails may still need clearing work from winter blow down of trees. Wenatchee and Leavenworth are areas in this category, and usually about now teams of volunteers go in and clear trails.
@@dagsterblaster4973 nice thank you 🙏 Any suggestions on how I can volunteer to help with some of those clears?
Thanks for sharing these, really appreciate to somewhat have an idea of what I may be getting into. Wondering if it's a bad idea to do these trails solo. I'm not a beginner but also not that used to long single track trails (mostly due to fitness lol) Hope I catch you guys in one of these rides, I just got a new 501 and am planning a few rides around this area in a couple of weeks. Cheers
Lack of experience, not in the best of shape, solo.... pretty good recipe for trouble. I suggest you find a group of guys to ride with and learn from. If you go on a weekend to many of these places you'll find a number of folks on the trails that may let you join them for a ride. At least if you ride during a busy day, should you get in trouble you'd at least have people to rescue you. Riding off road solo, above pay grade, at night, bad weather, while injured...all things I've done and while not every time ends in trouble, it ofeen has and I have the memories and injuries to remember those rides by. I've also helped people that were injured or in serious risk of injury.
@@dagsterblaster4973 you are totally right, but just to be honest I’ve been riding for 25+ years (off-road from dirt to adv bikes) mostly solo, just zero experience with hard enduro. I’ll take your advice though and take my time. Thanks!
Assuming most of this is covered in snow now but can’t wait to ride it. Thanks for the trail work and sharing this, new to WA so looking for a few good trails to check out.
You've wound up in the right place. There's great year round riding here, and the Mountains from the Oregon Border up to Canada have a long list of great trail systems, most of which I have covered on my channel.
Love it!
Now imagine riding this in the 90s on moto bikes. Pre 300 cheaters, lol 2 strike tech has come a very long way
Person with the camera was close enough to knock the other man off of a cliff 🤪. I like your videos but I've been riding off-road since 1968 and I know you've got to put enough space between yourself and the bike ahead of you so if you hit your breaks while in loose rocks which sometimes you won't even see, your front tire won't hit his back tire and send him off a cliff possibly killing him but making a fun day horrible at the very least, SHEESH.
Relax. I’m not as close as it appears. I used the video editor to zoom in a bit to get more detail. That said, I did ask 30Cal to follow close and tight so the viewer gets a good feel for the trail.
how do u care about leather
Use silicone spray. The oil cleans and protects leather from water.
The ultimate in humor and lack of political correctness, Rick Sieman was the best! He will take you on a journey to the past and great times. I miss him, RIP my friend.
A masterpiece and this video gives it its appropiate frame. Thx. 🤘
Thank you for the kind words!
Interesting take. Thank you for making the video 👍
I like Gaerne because they actually make their boots unlike most that have sweatshops make em in other countries…
On our way from Bangkok to Hua Hin we visited the 4th King’s palace. The monkeys blocked us from continuing. They wanted us to see their pool diving in hopes of getting snacks. Signs everywhere telling tourists to not feed monkeys…. Got a bit nervous thinking they were tip shaming us…
Great video!!
Sick
Nice terrain....but no where near "expert".
RIP Super. Love the book. My favorite part was his Kenny Zhart story.
@Dagsterblaster4973 are you able to fill the oil tank with the larger fuel tank?? I want the big Acerbis tank but wondering if it will get in the way of the fill cap!
We all run the 3.2 gallon tanks with no issues! You're good to go! Nice having some serious range, as everyone that refuses to upgrade wound up running out.
@@dagsterblaster4973 thanks! And would love to ride with you sometime! (Also what kind of mileage do you get from the 3.2gal?)
Myself my wife and three kids we hiked all the way to the top and then found the short cut to the road back down love this and bishop ridge blue lake a must see
RIP Super Hunky 3rd gear pinned forever bro ✊
He passed away? I spoke to him just before I made this video, was asking permission. Nice guy for sure.
@@dagsterblaster4973 I'm 61 but I used to read his stuff all the time I was just a kid, have the utmost respect for that man
Thanks for this, I’d almost forgotten what an engaging writer Super Hunky was. Guess I’ll try to find a copy of this book.
I'm gonna dig out my old Dirtbike magazines, and relive some of these great stories.
A very well written book. Very entertaining for all. Worth a read for sure.

damn you guys rode some gnarly trails at DM! well done!
I love these videos. One thing you could do in the future, is Even if the video wasn't taken in 1440p Or higher, export the video in 4k. Unfortunately on UA-cam you get stuck with avc1 codec if you upload as something under 1440. If you upload in 4k, even if the video isn't 4k, You can atleast get the VP01 codec so the videos can be clear.
Translation of the sample at 6:34 "I want to adress those who will make it past the blasting operation: Hold the position to the very last moment You know what it is all about Tyrol - your homeland" Guess this is a reference to the battle at Col di Lana, where Austro-Hungarian troops (Tyrolean Kaiserjägers) held the position on then mountains summit untill the Italian forces managed to blast the whole summit from underneath. The Austro-Hungarian troops knew that this moment will come since they were aware of the Italian explosive tunnel but were not able to destroy it. These guys where badass to the bone. I served in their successor military unit and it was just jaw dropping to see how and where they lived and build up their positions during the war.
One of the movies I used is about the battle you describe. I later saw the movie, foreign… can’t recall if it was Italian or Austrian. Silent Mountain?
Did you ever review the Tech 7 Drystars?
No, but it's a boot that I want to buy. I am currently using Sidi Goretex ADV boot, and hope the Tech 7 provides the same comfort and waterproof, but with a bit more protection.
My man took a bow... Damn
all rssians are welcome to my sight
Those brave soldiers waving their families and loved ones goodbye...brings tears to my eyes every fucking time.. As a woman i gotta admit...Men are amazing..
I can't believe you had the energy at the end of that long punishing ride to calmly narrate the trail. I've ridden some of those trails, but after seeing the Devil's Backbone on here, I know I'll never ride it. The trails don't look anything like the fat green line on the Forest Service riding map for that area.
Trails like that do require experience and it’s also good to have capable friends with you for support and in case trouble occurs. The guys on this ride with me are fantastic friends
I’m only an hour away from mattawa, looking for people to ride with. Hit me up!
I really liked the commentary while riding, describing the trails, geology, and other areas the author has ridden. It really made the video much more interesting than just a gopro capture playback. The trails look fantastic, too.
Thanks so much for your kind words. I’m writing to you from Bishop California at the base of a 6000 foot climb. No moto with me, just taking truck up this time. Hopefully my videos can prepare people to safely ride and enjoy some of the best trails in the world.
@@dagsterblaster4973 White Mountain?
I ran a ve 33 at diamond mill and loved the way it hooked
Great tire!
So buy a super expensive bike and make it more expensive.
If you want it to perform, yes.
Years ago I belonged to Rick Sieman‘s Sahara Club. So. One of the things he wrote about in the club newsletter was environmentalist monkey wrenching. One thing the Wrenchers did was drop homemade rebar caltrops on remote logging roads to frustrate logging work. We were riding on a forestry road, Northern California Western Slope Plumas Natl. Forest near a place called Little North Fork Campground. My buddy ran over a caltrop. Bizarre. Holed-out his new rear tire. He didn’t get hurt.
Does this trail have hard spots ?
This is one of the easier trails in the system.
Das waren noch Soldaten @ Germany ❤
True North do the conversion or just offer the parts?
They will do both
I watch your videos over and over!! Love your commentary
No More Brothers Wars.
I am actually from Sarajevo my house is few blocks from shooting of Prince Ferdinand. And I love minenwerfer. And also metalhead. This band is special.
I always clean my MX/road riding boots but after a few years all the shit ferken plastic parts crack & they fall to pieces!!! I know nothing lasts forever but these things(especially the road one's) look like new & they cost a small fortune so it gives me the right proper shits!!! I wouldn't mind betting the manufacturers have the plastic designed to fail on purpose to(programmed obsolescence) sell you more boots????
We are riding this trail on Saturday. I am sending out this video as a warning to my fellow riders!😦😧😯😜
Devastating!
Good i will know where not to GO😬😬 New rider
LOL, yeah Teanaway might be the most challenging riding area I can think of
Thank you for sharing these trails! They are beautiful
Forgot to mention 1 HUGE difference... Sidis are no longer made in italy. Gaerne still are. Over the last few years, sidi has been riding on their past reputation when quality has dropped significantly. Many complaints about soles falling off.
Where are they now made??
dagsterblaster4973 your boot videos are great 👍🏻. Any feedback on the Gaerne Fastback Enduro by your riding buddy? Thinking about them or the SG12. Be interested to know if the quality rumor about Sidi is correct 🧐
That is a nice lake. Get out on a float tube, and u could catch 100 fish in a day. Mostly Brook trout. Great eating fish. The hair pin corners going downhill, tend to get me. Up hill i have no issues.
