This channel is about Riding, Restoring and Appreciating beautiful motorcycles from the 70s. This period produced some great machines like the Yamaha RDs, Kawasaki Triples, Honda CBs and Suzuki GTs.
I am a novice when it comes to motorcycle restoration and UA-cam has taught me a lot on this subject. Through this channel i want to learn more and share the knowledge.
My first project, restoring a Yamaha RD350 from 1973.

RD350 - Points Gap Adjust
Переглядів 24 тис.5 років тому
The engine failed to start and i suspected an issue with the ignition points. The ignition system wont function well if the points gap is not set right. Time to clean the points and set the gap right!
RD350 - Carb Overflow Fix
Переглядів 44 тис.5 років тому
The right side carb on my Yamaha RD350 was overflowing. Had to trouble shoot and found out that the float height was incorrect. Fixed the float height and the fuel overflowing stopped!
RD350 - Carburettor Sync
Переглядів 27 тис.5 років тому
Wanted to synchronise the carbs on my Yamaha RD350. If carbs are not in sync, then one cylinder will work more than the other and reduce the overall power output of the engine.

RD350 - Oil Pump Working & Disassembly
Unfortunate seventies Metal channel owner family members.
Easiest with plugs out, rubbing block of points should be on highest of cam and a slight drag of the feeler gauge when removing.Great camera work too.
Hi...bro can u please share the wiring diagram for rd 350 1984 model
Proper test requires warm engine, both plugs removed, insert test gauge and turn over engine with throttle wide open. Both cylinders checked the same way. You didn’t mention if both plugs were removed during testing.
I have watched all of your videos. As the 49 1/2 year owner of the same '75 RD 350 with about 200k miles on the odometer, I salute you for a masterclass on the care and love of the best bikes that Yamaha ever made.
Flip me mate this is the best video on utube 100000000% I took my 350b. Carburetors and built them back up. Float heights the lot.❤ brilliant 👏 👏 👏 😂
I just got 1975 RD 350. How long do you run premix in the bike after 20 years sitting? I got the bike going and a using 60/1 premix and the oil injection system. Have put about 30 miles on it testing the bike. It’s running rough and need to be gone through, but I think it might be running to rich. At what point do you switch to non ethanol fuel only?
Rust in seal groove !. That's a sealing surface and must be cleaned up !
Your condenser is missing.
Manual states to check compression after the motor has heated up. I'm assuming the piston & rings expand and set the seal.
Get a better quality compression tester. Warm up bike then check it for best compression. I have a feeling yours is fine.
Nice background music seventies metal…hehee
Thank you!!! I managed to disassemble my speedo and refit/tighten the screws as well as clean 50+ years of dust off the glass. Legend. 19733 RD250 ❤

Im at about 155 with mine. The cylinders should be machined flat on top like the RD400 so you can use RD400 head gaskets. Squish clearance should not exceed .040". The 400 head gasket is .020" so if your deck height is zero and there is minimal recess in the combustion chamber it should work well. At 90 psi Im wondering if its got the wrong heads on it. I think the R5 used a larger dome than the 350 but i haven't confirmed it.
Thanks for informative video. Music tastes vary and it would be better if it's not included.
Absolutely excellent video man. Nice work. Thank you!!
Would be higher when engine is hot, I don’t believe you would see more than 120psi. Compression ratio is only 6.6 to 1
You might want to correct your video that there's actually 36 spokes on the wheel, not 32 as you state.
Another UA-cam 'expert' spreading nonsense. The spark should happen 2mm before TDC, not at TDC. And there's no need to take the head off, that's dumb.
In all mu years of racing RD375's I think I have done this about a million times...
Still have my 1974 rd350b 4k miles and as tight as a new bike 🏍 ❤
this is called a fuel pet cock.
Correct decision . Pre-Mix is fine for Racing , but constant intermittent throttle work , like a ROAD bike will lead to oil starvation .
Good
Awesome presentation. Location?
Loose that music
The plate screws fell out of mine and were rattling around under the glass. This video showed how to remove the bezel to get it apart. All better now thanks!!!!
I had the same bike , I had to split the motor because the lead weight in the crank fell out
bom 👍
Good video
Doing a 1971 R5B. though it’s not exactly the same, it is similar enough that these videos help me tremendously. Thank you very much!
can anyone give the order link of clutch cable!!
Mine just pegs at idle….gotta figure it out.
I have 1970 Yamaha rd350. I alway see oil drops hanging at bottom on couple of big bolts (in the center). How do i find out where it's leaking from? or any know source?
Rd 350 and rx 135 small end bearings are same or deferent.?? Plzz ans
Uma Grande Maquina...🤩
Cara vc e dmais tive rd nos nos 80 e a gente tinha q passar perrengue p Ela a RD 350 voaasse e nervosa..
Great video. Couple of thoughts...largest part of the wheel not necessarily heaviest? Assuming its heavy, would we not use less weights if we put it on the opposite side of the valve stem? Perhaps tube and rim also matter. In the end, I suppose, this method will work regardless given its compensation and weight balance.
Where is the repair place
Not sure how adjusting the fuel level in the bowl a couple of mm will fix a leaking overflow. For the fuel to discharge through the overflow, the fuel height would need to be way above the adjustment parameters and above the top of the overflow tube in the bowl. The level was set initially lower than normal in any case. More likely to be dirt on the needle and seat. I always set the float level half way down the arm not the end. Check the brass overflow tube doesn't have a hairline crack.
I can’t get my seized piston out with air. What were you using to pump the air in? Any other advice on ways to break free a stuck piston?
Just stumbled upon your videos. I have a 73 RD 350(i think), I have the same white powdery stuff on the bores. Do you know what that white stuff is?
Please upload assembly vidoes of rd
Please Upload assembly vidoes also
Acompanhando você do Brasil.
Good videos… terrible soundtrack.
What a beauty... great work.. Im getting my 1975 RD350 running in a couple weeks. Could you tell me if those are the stock handle bars on there ? Cheers from Las Vegas
