Do like the ancient Aztecs did with their large lake Texcoco and turn Tulare Lake and the Salton Sea back into a new fresh water lake. Start with pumping several small pools of water to separate the salt and other toxicants from the fresh water and lake based floating islands filled with green mangrove trees and plants, corn, tomatoes, squash and vegetables. Additionally build a series of dikes, lakes, river canals and dams to capture the rainwater, use floating mangrove trees and plants to filter and separate out the toxic salts and oils. Eventually over time and with help from the floating island mangroves trees, migrating birds and crop islands you can pull out the toxics and salts and what remains is fresh water and also grow tilapias and Salamanders. If the Aztecs can do this almost 1000 years ago, we can also do it again, minus all the Aztec human sacrifices.

You can legally own a mangrove tree! I have some red mangroves at home, and I would love to get some more species (legally) of course. Like you I love these tree's as well mine are growing in fresh water though.

A great initiative. Unfortunately, when you were putting the clips together, the sound on the 'Brazian' clip was fused with the sound of the next clip which then appeared totally silent. It's a great message but we missed most of what you were saying.

I just saw your A Current Affair episode and I am a hardcore plastic lover. I have over 50 plastic figures and I am getting a Gundam model kit for my birthday in the so called "plastic free July". You are not plastic free. That blazer you wore at APCS (which was in the ACA episode), is probably made out of polyester which is a plastic and I bet you any money that, your school uniform also contains polyester in it. No wonder why you are still in primary school. PS: Almost two years ago, when I was your age, I knew better than you. You just can't escape from plastic. The device you used to upload this UA-cam video from is made out of plastics and guess what? The plastics used in electronics are not biodegradable. So, good lucky trying to live a truly plastic free life. I wonder if your "Plastic Free Boy" shirts contain polyester... it doesn't say anything about the shirt and what the materiel is but it says stuff about the bag and that it is made out of cotton. See you at my school if the Science teachers decide to bring you over to talk about plastics. It is a terrible shame for you that none of them watch A Current Affair.

Your an idiot - In theory banning plastic is a good thing however it has flow on effects remember when they banned plastic bags in woolworths and coles and other shops did that really reduce plastic in fact is didnt as most people used those shopping bags as ban liners and now what has happened the sale of garbage plastic bags has gone through the roof ,,, every thing has a flow on effect ....
