Um.. the design school has both Wacom Cintiq tablets and PCs to use so it just depends what you wanna use at home when ur not in the DS. I’d say have both tbh? also if ur rly keen on taking notes in class then iPads would be a lot easier for that

apparently! I've heard recently from a friend who's graduated that there are alot of underqualified student's coming into Lboro DS. HOWEVER it will also be quite hard without atleast a good grade at GCSE if not A-level maths and physics I recon.

Honestly I wouldn’t know which uni would be best being that I’ve only studied in Lboro but I’d say it’s a nice uni to be in! (Specially if you like doing sports) I’ve got a friend in Brunel who says it’s pretty good too. Also personally I don’t think it’s even worth paying for a degree in product design.

hey congrats! I'm in the process of doing and reviewing final year right now but as far as I can say it that there will be a sudden shock of information you need to learn. BUT having said that, everything the Design School has to offer can be found on UA-cam for free and picked up / learnt before coming to the uni (this is theory all the way from Year 1-3 that I believe you can really self study in a few months if you tried). I'll be mentioning all of this in depth in my final year video so be sure to check it out when it does come out! So TL:DR don't be too worried about being able to catch up on any of the theory /skills you'll need to know!

@@BKYLiew hell yeh I'll check it out. If I can make a start on theory hopefully it'll be a way better introduction, that is if I get my grades which at this point isn't looking too promising.

hey! sorry for the slow response!! I'm not sure if you've talked to them about it (if not it's probably worth it because they're really nice and will probably help you decide better than I'll be able to). Imo product design and industrial design courses are almost identical, I know the ID students have slightly different modules and courseworks that PD students don't have like the packaging design challenge and other stuff but I don't think it's that important when comparing our courses as a whole? (UCD is ALOT different though!) Also just coming out of placement there are plenty of co-workers who started off doing PD at uni and end up as industrial designers and vise versa. I'm sure you'll be fine entering with PD and seeing how it goes for the year cuz the courses almost identical and I doubt there'd be an issue changing between PD/ID mid-year or even second year! I hope this helps :P

Don't think I can but I got the EMAKERS VESC from their website (The MiniFOC Plus). Flipsky was the same just on their website (190kV 6355 Motor Sealed) Hope that helps :P

@ꜱ ᴄ ᴏ ʀ ᴘ ɪ ᴏ ɴ lol yeah, PDE is pretty much a mechanical engineering course with a façade of design. I'm at the end of my first year of PDE and I'm trying to switch off to do industrial design. I'm not sure PDT is the exact opposite though, I emailed the Design School admissions and they said PDT is "focussed on equipping you with the skills and knowledge of utilising a range of technologies for the creation and development of functional prototypes for manufacture, in addition to form and design communication" whereas IDT is "focussed on equipping you with skills and understanding of product form and styling, usability, design communication, and the production and use of prototypes".

Oh right, PDE stands for Product Design Engineering, PDT is Product Design & Technology

PERSONALLY: yes. BUT it depends what you're into? I can't comment much on PDE but PDT you won't really learn much about engineering (if that's why you did PDE)

@@BKYLiew I just feel like in PDE there isn't that much creativity or design. I don't want to lose this sand focus too much on engineering. So I considered PDT to have more actual product design work etc

Angel Kid nope it’s completely different, it’s basically an engineering subject with an add-on of design. Where PDT is design with a (sorta) add-on of engineering

Oscar Marchal honestly I wouldn’t be able to say anything other than Loughborough because I don’t have any experience from any other unis!! (But from experience, Lboro and Brunel are basically the top 2 in terms of recognition when leaving DS and finding a job 😅)

that's great! you confirmed on PDE though? because that's taught in the engineering school not design school! (so it's basically more engineering than designing)

@@BKYLiew No, haven't confirmed any yet. Going to have another look around the foundation studies offer holder day (as I'm doing a foundation year) so once I've had another look I'll make my final choice 😎 I was originally interested in Product Design Technology but I didn't have the entry grades/subjects & they do not offer a foundation year within that subject so I continued to look and found PDE was offered with the foundation year!
