    I see the latest info suggests the bike should be held upright and not on the centre or jiffy stand…have you noticed any difference in oil levels yourself between 2/3 methods…..? I’d been relying on the jiffy stand method before this and when I put the bike upright after the announcement ended up topping up quite a bit….maybe even a third of a litre….worrying that the HD tech didn’t do this During the first service , unless of course it uses a fair mount of oil anyway…I’d done 750/1000 miles since the first service and to be honest didn’t check what level it was when I picked it up after the 1k dealer service. Does yours tend to consume oil ?

    • @SPDBIKER
      @SPDBIKER 2 місяці тому

      I did check it all three ways and to be honest there is little in it. All within safe limits of low-high. I'll caveat by saying I always turn the bike on to lower the suspension for checking on the side stand. I did do a video showing the measurements but didn't put it up as so little difference but maybe I should? The bike doesn't really use any oil

    I never stand up while on the trails, I just don't seem as in control of the bike when I stand up. It raises your centre of gravity and when you're sat down your arms are at right angles to the bars so much more leverage can be applied if the front wheel decides it wants to go it's own way. Nice bike you have, not your typical Harley, sounds nice as well. Have fun👍

    • @SPDBIKER
      @SPDBIKER 3 місяці тому

      I felt the same way about standing and then went on the Mick Extance experience day and it all changed. In reality the centre of gravity doesn't change, and the bike just pivots around underneath you which feels to me like it makes it more nimble. Once I got into it, it feels really great and now I spend most of my time stood up even on the minor roads and then feels weird sitting down. I'd recommend giving it a good go.

    jack oil works good. and if they are leaking, use jack oil that has stop leak additive. add approximately 10 oz per side, pump up with small shock pump. not a bicycle pump and your done.

      I wouldn't do it without removing or at least loosening and lifting the tank up and sitting it on top of the front mounts otherwise you could damage the plugs connectors and or connector as it is a tight space

      To be honest the level of the oil was different in both shocks before i replaced the oil and it did improve things a little. That said i have since changed them out for Progressive shocks which whilst expensive have completely transformed the bike especially when 2 up and touring with no more bottoming out. They are one of the best upgrades i have done.
