We acknowledge and thank the original composer's of the music🎶 and song 🎵 "Mammy Blue" and "We Are One". "Mammy Blue" was introduced to the village children by our dear friend/colleague/wantok, Dr Tony Byrne at the eve of PNG's 49th Independence Day Anniversary. I introduced "We Are One" in 2022, during my visit, conducting our REVIEW of the Continer Charity Project in East Pomio.
☆☆☆THE STORY☆☆☆
The recording was done during the recent PNG@24 Project trip, in September. The team comprised, Bryan Elliott- Briz, of Bryan Elliott Construction PTY LTD, Lauren McDonald-Loz, Jack Newland-3rd Generation Rotary family, all from Geelong, Vic. Dr Tony Byrne-Kilmore East Vic., Kerryn Katal and Johnny Katal (me) - Far North Queensland (FNQ).
☆☆☆THE CHILDREN☆☆☆
Poor in materialised goods, yet very blessed and enriched with happiness and laughter. These children are very humble and innocent. They may not know what the other side of the world looks, feel, smell, sound, or other unknown elements because, to them its playtime the second the sun rises to its setting.
Generations before them, the present, and yet to come will face the same, if not similar, a situation whereby quality of living may improve in 'baby-steps'.
The harmonious livelihood shared and endured for decades and generations, has been strung tightly together by the island matrimonial society, linked with the Law of the Land and Environment with Mother Nature as the original rock "🪨" and the fig tree 🌳 the 'Tree of Life', Tribes and Clans cintinue to base their traditional everyday laws,.
Local indigenous folks who successfully complete some form of education do return to their place of birth or original 'country' from time to time. When they do, knowledge of health, hygiene, education and safety, youth programs, and family care and planning are shared.
In the current and our ever changing universal landscape of digital education and all the spinoffs like violence ( familyb to all the above), corruption (in-house to all the above), gendar equalities and non-bindery day-to-day conversations, these children are 'better off' where they are.
We thank and acknowledge many people who have contributed positively towards impacting the lives of these innocent children and really learning from their simplicity and presences.
