It should be pointed out that during the Eden Raids, it's revealed that if a Sundered Ascian dies, the Unsundered would just go looking for a replacement by looking for an incarnate shard of the felled Ascian. IIRC, Gaia even notes that she and Artemis have likely been already replaced by other soul shards of themselves even though Artemis hadn't technically died yet. So it's possible that there's another version of Gaia running around holding the seat of Logrif.

The Burn reminded me a lot of the Great Salt Lake from VIII!

She's called Princess Sphene in the dungeon, but they also say "the queen is here." Then the npcs say "we restored the queens memory" - So was sphene promoted to queen during that time or is it someone elses memory they saved? Also the very top of everkeep, was that 'inside' the bubble or was on top outside of the bubble (because we can see the sky) and time was normal on the top of the tower. Talking about where we vs'd Zarool Ja, not living memory.

It should also be said that Emet-Selch had his fingers in the Allagan Empire too, not so much as Garlemald but he still considered it one of his 'finer works'. Its entirely possible he oversaw the whole creation of Azys Lla and Dalamud, and decided to repurpose some of his older works for his newer work.

Dalamud's pretty darn big though. I'm hoping they have a huge chunk of Meracydia missing. That expansion could do a surgical retcon of all matters Allagan, which I actually wouldn't mind terribly, especially if they went back and revised the Binding Coils while they're at it.

As a big fan of Miqo'te Lore The Burn does represent the likely path that the tribes used before it was altered when they fled Eorzea in their long trek to Meracydia, shame you missed mentioning that point.

Great video! I appreciated the lesson in FF XIV lore. It's been a while since I played through Heavensward and Stormblood so I appreciate the refresher. Also, I love seeing how the devs can slide in bits of lore as a potential Easter egg for other FF games such as FF VIII.

The terminology of cutting the area off from the life stream may be entirely correct. This could explain the Dotharl belief of a closed reincarnation cycle. Maybe souls lost in areas too far removed from an aether current bounce right back rather than reach the aetherial sea? Azys La is a collection of islands from various places. The southern and southwestern islands are all chunks of land taken from Meracydia. It's possible we could find another burn down there when/if we ever go there.

Another banger video! BTW the Burn always reminds me of The Empty on the first... And both of it reminds me of Moon. All lands which are covered in stagnant aether.

Coming to ff14 from swtor, and eso, there was one location that The Burn reminded me of, post-storyline Ziost a blighted white-grey wasteland devoid of life, aside from the hulking monoliths which aren't really alive, they are constructs of some form. Seeing the burn I could immediately believe the aetherial imbalance that occurred there, and the allagan experiments that led to it as I ventured further, the mist dragon sealed the deal for me, an aberration somehow unliving, surviving in some form in this lifeless wasteland feeding off of whatever vestiges of life remain. And it also made me think, does the burn have the same "hollow" feeling to spell;casters that Ziost, and Nathema have to force users within the narrative of swtor, an emptyness, nawing away at the back of your mind, a feeling of wrongness that cements the atrocities committed here.

I agree that this is likely what the writers are going for, Azem's involvement and such, but I'd much rather it be auracite and finally give us more info on auracite's (white and all others) history and origins, as we've always just had teasers with the Ivalice Ultima and even Athena's involvement with the mysterious space rock wasn't enough explanation for me. Or at least I hope the key has auracite origins, but was given to, and used mainly by, the seat of Azem as part of their duty, instead of made by it.

I'm sure Kuja and/or Necron will appear before DT is over.

I play a Seeker girl, and I named her Kelandra Stormborn. Where would THAT fit in with the lore? Maybe I could headcanon her as a halfblood?

I really wish we see a different version of her in one of the other shards. A version of her that's happy, married, has successful adventures and everything turned out well for her.

My theory is quite simple. Azem created that key, and thus, bears her signature. I think time travel is going to be an integral part of the seat of Azem's 'traveler' title, and will be behind orchestrating certain events such an Pandemonium as well as the source's WoL acquiring the key. I don't have much more to say on it at the time because it will cause my brain to spin in all directions. Also, Iirc, Azem's crystal was forged by Emet Selch. He did this in secret after the convocation disbarred Azem after she defected from their plans to call forth Zodiark.

*Necromancer will never be a playable job.* Then why exactly would they put them out there in that dungeon labeled as a warrior of light when there are 16 other jobs? It seems like the silliest possible choice for them to pursue. Also dark knight, reaper and summoner all exist and **FORSURE** should not playable by the WoL if you use the same logic they used as an excuse for Necromancer not being a job. We have clear evidence that necromancer is already a warrior of light, saying that it cannot be one is worthy of a gold medal in mental gymnastics.

she sounds like an ascian. she talks almost if she knew something about azem. but in general the electrope stuff just makes them sound like ascian in their prime and their ability to revive.

That key would be the perfect tool for spreading enough chaos to start an umbral calamity. Wouldn't surprise me if the Ascians planted it on the south isles to be discovered.

I think the crystal that Hythlodaeus mentions in the Tales of Dawn is the Key, not the crown.

Maybe the original is in some type of stasis in the crown or being channeled and used for an alternate goal. Like minfilia getting used in shadowbringers.

Sphene is their shards version of Minfilia

After the absolute shit show of an MSQ that dawntrail was. Shadowbringers still reigns supreme over all expansions. Closely followed by Endwalker.
