The Epic Viewpoints Of Mushroom Rock Trail | Aspen Hiking | Conquering Colorado
• MUSHROOM ROCK TRAIL - CARBONDALE, COLORADO
As we were making our way to Glenwood Springs we discovered a nice looking trailhead just off the highway in Carbondale, Colorado about 50 minutes northwest of Aspen. This trail, called Mushroom Rock Hike, had many amazing viewpoints and various styles of landscapes and terrain, from orange clay rock formations to green forest canopies with snow covered grounds. Since it was right off the highway it made for a great stop, however you can definitely hear the road noise on the beginning section of the trail. Nonetheless I really enjoyed this trail and was one of my favorites that I've experienced on this trip!

You have the set-up all wrong. Air conditioners don't make cold air. They absorb the warm are from the space to be conditioned. The unit has to be inside the tent not outside. Warm air gets blown out through the screen. Ever notice when a household central air conditioner is on and you put your hand over it it feels warm.that's the heat being removed from inside of the house.

I do a lot of those KOA cabins, especially in Florida, as sometimes it’s more comfortable than a tent for my husband. We’ve been to Titusville a few times. Another great cheap one that’s outstanding in Florida is Orlando Southwest KOA and also Hunsader Farms is a must try. Enjoyed your review, looking forward to more. I’m missing Florida greatly. It’s better to place the footprint underneath the tent. This helps to protect the bottom fabric of the tent from rocks and sticks that could puncture or tear the tent by adding that extra protective fabric layer. It also helps prevent water seeping into the tent from any puddles caused by rain under the tent. Hope this helps!

Cool fact: did you know that if you try using the portable air condition in a white tent for the summer days instead of any other colour tent then it will cool down much faster and the cooler air from inside the tent will last longer because having white tents reflects the sunlight heat to keep the sunlight heat from entering in the tent. Try searching up why white keeps you colder and you will see 👍. Try making a video to attempt having a white tarp added on top of your tent so you can see that it is doing the job of reflecting sunlight and for it to bring a extra installation for the inside and then for real try using the portable air conditioner this time 👍. Great video 😀 love it.

First one is weeks cave. Goes down about 30 something feet and opens up considerably before narrowing back down and continuing underwater. Second one is Jeep cave, perfect for taking a break and a lunch.

Thanks for the info! Was wondering what the names were. I’d love to go back and explore some more of Weeks Cave

@@WhereisHammer the guy who discovered/ uncovered it, Garrett Weeks installed some metal loops to act as steps for descent and ascent. Though, to be honest I think I trust my hands and feet on the natural holds more.

Pretty cool setup, I enjoyed watching you build everything up and troubleshoot the vents not being lined up. I may have missed it, but did you mention the extension cord you use? I recommend a 12-gauge cable to avoid melting the extension cord. I speak from experience on that, nothing scarier than the fear of the extension cord catching on fire with my whole family in the tent.

Thanks for watching ! I’m really not sure of the exact type of extension cord. However this is something I should probably look into for the exact reason you mentioned . Never thought of that situation but I definitely want to avoid it lol..thanks again!

Wife found this little collapsable stool at the Dollar General that is perfect for our Window Unit. It quite literally fills the entire window with no gaps. Another suggestion would be to use moving blankets from Harbor Frieght if you are sure its not going to rain instead of the 2nd tarp. Much heavier, so it keeps the cool air trapped in much better. We took a trip when it only dropped into the mid 80s at night, and it still got to 65 and shut off our window unit.

That’s a good idea I never thought of the moving blankets! Thanks 😀

Can't believe you skipped out on peace cave, it goes back close to a hundred feet or so, not including what they call the quarter mile crawl. I haven't personally been through that bit but I have seen it. I hear that the crawl hole in Dames cave outlined in yellow in your video goes back a substantial bit, but it's always Got standing water in it when I go there. The second cave you approached, I don't believe is really a cave and doesn't have a name as far as I know, however the third one is sick bat cave. It's kind of a tight squeeze at first but opens up substantially. With ups downs and interconnecting passages, it's probably one of my favorite so far. There's another one further down the trail opposite the parking area. I've heard it referred to as Danger Cave and Girl Scout cave. It's okay but it just gets narrower and narrower like a funnel until your belly crawling and I don't believe it opens back up. Glad you got to enjoy the area though.
