The Herzog version is one of the very few remakes that I actually like (along with Invasion of the Body Snatchers 78, The Thing 82, and Scarface 83). In fact, kinda pathetic that THAT flick is forty years old and remains generally overlooked and underseen, while that NEW version isn't even released yet and is already getting hyped through the roof.

First of all: excellent choices. Second of all: beautiful style.

What about the Eggers 2024 remake?

Surprised no one has commented on the 12/25/25 remake. Would like to see an updated analysis here.

That movie is depressing , suffocating , miserable but inspite of all these even as a protoginist I wanted to stay in dune not because of my water discovery but how pure and loving soul the wife is ! Crazy !

I like 1922 best simply because the silent film atmosphere is so dream like and haunting. Herzog did great for the 1970s analogue style. I’m hoping Eggers succeeds for 2020s. But the silent version is the creepiest and most iconic. It is sublime and nothing else like it in nightmarish expressionist cinema.

They both lose for me. I didn’t like either versions. Hopefully Eggers’s rendition will be better but I’m skeptical

Watching this video for the 15th time still feels peak, and the video was perfectly edited as well as the clips match the beat so well. My bro cooked from both sides' quality as well as quantity.

I easily prefer the original which is more of a slower burn than DeNiro going way over the top by the halfway point of the remake. The remake is closer to bloody horror at times than it is riveting suspense like the original.

The Popol Vuh intro with the array of vampiric victims was the the most affecting and haunting opening to any horror film I’ve ever seen

Now I have seen both films and both are equally great and held up well. Now the new adaptation from Robert Eggers is also receiving good reviews as well. Hoping that this could bring Nosferatu into the modern word of cinema in the 21st century.

One of my favorites. Not easy to watch but a great film. Haven't seen a movie with the relationship these few losers had.A convoluted love story that deserved the best picture oscar..

Interestingly Klaus Kinski also played Renfield in an earlier version of Dracula.

The 1922 Nosferatu is THE best of this kind, that I ever saw.

Great analyse of one of my favorite movies Nosferatu (1979)!!! Great Video Klaus Kinski is one of my favorite actors. You can watch all movies with him and You will never be disappointed

The remake was terrible.

Old world rapidly aging

I liked the Kinski take, and its almost like the new film echoes it. Shadow of the Vampire is great as well. Watch Tale of the Vurdulak....a classic tale with great practical Fx and echoes of Hammer.

Nothing beats the original imo. Its like a terrifying fever dream. Certain scenes in that have never left me 😱 Didn’t like The Witch or The Lighthouse so will be steering well clear of the remake

I hate Herzog's version. I've never seen a more pretentious film. And I saw it before the original. The silent film makes so much more sense.

Provocative stuff, Bill --- do you suppose Count Orlock's lust for Adjani symbolizes Germanic aspirations for The New World? Or just Herzog's? Interesting that he followed up with "Aguirre -- Wrath of God" & "Fitzcarraldo", then "Grizzly Man" Tim Treadwell's nihilist Gotterdamerung . It appears Herr Herzog's a director with penetrating insights into men's obsessions & to judge by Isabelle Adjani's checkmate, women's as well. (Kinsky's brilliant).

I had to watch the 1922 version for a University Course, I mistakingly watched the '79 one, but I think it's a great movie still. Herzog has done some very good stuff.

I need a tag in from Willem Dafoe, Shadow Of The Vampire for this fight to feel complete.

Got Herzog's on VHS back in the late 90's. Fell in love, immediately! I finally was able to watch the 1922, original, and I loved it as well. I'm also a fan of Bela Lugosi's Dracula.
