The script really killed this for me. It made a big deal out of the patriarchy but barely showed it. If they delved more into the whole podcast incel culture they hinted at and how it affects the women in the film I would’ve like it a lot more bc it drives the point home as well as giving the men much needed character development
After seeing this movie, the concept reminded me too much of the Matrix. Heck, even the guys in the red suits were like the agents if you wanna describe them in a few words.
SPOILERS: One of the biggest things that bothered me about this film was the real-world setting in general. Alice was a doctor, perhaps even a brain surgeon (it wasn't super clear) and she lived in that shitty little apartment? No condo, no house, no nothing? Doctors at that level, in environments like big cities make BANK. Even if she was still paying her student loans or something and her husband had no job at the moment, I found it REALLY hard to believe that that was all they could afford and they were so, so miserable. Oh hey, I did a review of this film too if you'd like to check it out and compare notes: ua-cam.com/video/7NYwGPvKo70/v-deo.html
