Mark, I’m sorry your team lost in the Big Game Saturday but I think OSU will be ok. As a Hawkeye fan it’s a little tough to be ultra excited about this years class but per Iowa fashion, they don’t get overly impressive classes anyways at least as far as rankings go. As long as Iowa keeps filling the roster with 3 star kids for the most part, they’ll always be competitive. Not sure if Iowa can ever be the type of program to regularly get a top 10 class but I doubt it. Well, once a Hawkeye always a Hawkeye right? Lol. Great show.

On the Moss thing... I wonder if he even fits the Tim Lester mold... doesnt seem like he wants the statue QB... however, when I watched Moss play against LSU in the first game he seemed to move ok...Be interesting to get some idea of what Lester is looking for.

i looked back on the "curse". since 1979 we have played Nebraska and Iowa 19 times the W/L has been different 3 times. that's 1979, 1981, and 2024. that leaves a 15 year streak beginning in1982 that the results of the Iowa state game matched the results of the Nebraska game

Love the content, thank you. Must say I observed the O line was a big disappointment in this game. I think that is the most important thing that's in need of improvement for next season.

I thank you and coach for your post game shows all year, its always good to hear from you guys. A couple points, first off, I do believe when you talk about awards for our players, most of the reporters seem to be down on Iowa and so they are down on our players. As was said about getting rid of Kirk, how many times have you seen Iowa come away with the win while putting up less yards. I dont know if you remember this or if you ever heard of this, but a number of years back, a player from Northwestern made the statement that their goal wasn't to beat Michigan or OSU it was to beat Iowa. I think that still holds true with many teams, they see our record and we are a target for the rest of the teams with a lessor record. If you look at what those two games did against us, it really proves my point because you have pointed out there stats and they blew those right off the field. I believe that we should just pass the ball about two or three downs for a few series instead of letting the other team load up and knock KJ around for those downs. That is the only way to loosen up the D so we can run the ball. I think they are putting Jazz or Moulton in for short yardage is because those two hit the hole so hard when that is all you need. KJs patience doesnt work well for that, but maybe that is the one shortcoming of his game. You just know he could do that if he tried. I have more opinions but the last thing I'll say is Kirk is the best man for the team with this group and if he had better players he could call games more in line with what people want. Maybe next year after the portal scramble we will have what Lester needs for an effective offence.

Impossible to predict. Both teams are too inconsistent this year. Could be a rock fight or a route either way. Depends on which team shows up, and which coaching staff has a better plan and preparation. Both teams have momentum coming off big wins but the Hawks have not carried momentum all year. Nebraska FINALLY gets 6 wins and gets one giant monkey off their back. Will they carry the momentum? Game is at Iowa, Senior Day is a big plus. I see it as a crapshoot and (like any rivalry game) won't be surprised at anything. Anyone saying this isn't a rivalry- these teams and their fan bases HATE each other. They have respect, but abosulutely loath losing to the other. May not have started as one but most certainly is now. Hope it's a clean injury free game! Sorry for spelling/grammer- I have had a few beers and lost my reading glasses:) Go Hawks!!!

Great commentary guys, just hope we can get the pass game going to stop them from loading the box. Without some kind of throwing threat it can be difficult to run the ball for any great yardage. Need to get some explosive plays in the pass game to get them worried about that, then you can open up the run with pre snap motion. That is how you you put confusion in the D. So with that said, let's see what they can do with the bad weather conditions. It is bad for us too. I just think it would be neat to be up against USC or UCLA at Kinnick. I mean they have nasty winters in Nebraska too. I don't see the weather being an advantage for either team. Both will be down in the passing game.

McNamara's no longer the QB as of 3 weeks ago and his replacement is considerably better so it is pointless for me to listen further.

I have been pretty mad about the players jumping out of the bowl games for some time now. I still beat drum on how much I hate the transfer portal and NIL. That whole program has been mismanaged from the start. I'm actually for NIL but there has to be some skin in the game from the players. Turning the college game into pros is what we have now. The players have all of the power and none of the responsibility. They get lured in by a team and hit the transfer portal at will. No penalty what do ever. I've said this same thing about scholarships and kids dropping out of games at the end of the year. If they don't finish the year, they should have to pay back part of that scholarship. Now that holds true with NIL and there should be a way to get all kids paid as well. For example a base pay and what is over and above goes to the NIL babies. As for the transfer portal, the same applies. If a player transfers they must forfeit a portion of their NIL and at that point we would now have a cutthroat relationship between players and coaches . There is no loyalty left for anyone. The only ones playing will be the transfers just like Ohio State. Just trade off the players at the end of the season for players that can produce from day one. A lower rated player has to want there to be injuries so he can play. I used to like that Iowa was a development school, I lived to watch those guys progress and become good players. Not sure how much of that you will see in the future. Sorry that this got so long but I have strong feelings about keeping your contract with the team you committed to.

The lack of interest or excitement I have for this game as an Iowa fan…is well, yeah. Lol I’ll take Iowa in this one by the score of forfeit. I think it’ll be a 0-0 tie at halftime and the Maryland football team will leave with the student section to go bar hopping. Thusly, Iowa wins on forfeit. Boom.

Of course qb play has been a challenge, but the defense has been awful… Lester has improved the offense while the defense has shit the bed… Against UCLA, Sally’s turnovers should not have mattered with a reasonable Iowa defense… just awful… now all of you dicks for begging to see Sully, you are the first ones to bail.. The defense is a disaster, Phil Parker should account..

We as iowa fans have been spoiled for way to long. Yeah a 8-4 season isn't the one we were all hoping for but it could be way worse.

And...Spencer Petras is the 31st rankged QB in the country for completion percentage...that speaks volumes of our (lack) of coaching the QB\Passing game.

I would like to see Kirk get that win total up to hold the record and I would like to see him get with the transfer portal like everyone else. I think with guys like Lester in there we will have that on offence. Maybe Phil will get after it too. As for QB, I think Kirk doesn't have a clear number one but Stratton looked pretty good at UCLA. He didn't look like a deer in the headlights. Also wondering about Marco's injury,I thought it was a longer term injury and wouldn't be ready. We just have to see how it plays out. And I don't know how Cory sees this as an unimportant game. Every game is important, and you don't want to give Maryland a chance, or we end up with another loss. How is that not important? Glad I got to hear from you guys again tonight, always good discussion.

Where Does Iowa Need to Attack in the Portal? A coach

2-3 o line, 2 d line, Qb, 2 wr, 2 LB, 2 secondary. New coach. Basically we are looking at 3-4 wins next year. No surprise this year was a complete flop. We are use to this in Iowa city. Don’t want to hear about 10 win years. Time to focus on how many unacceptable losses we have every single year. Not expecting to beat the Ohio States of the world but it’s the losses that shouldn’t happen every year. It’s been time to move on for a very long time.

The same thing I said about the rose bowl historically still holds true. The rose bowl was originally for big ten pac ten champions, then the national championship started taking our champion in that play off and the lower ranked team had the rose. And on down the line was slanted by bowl affiliations where the big was sending a lower team to the bowls against higher ranked teams. I just dont know what kind of system to select teams now. The other thing is with the opt outs and that isnt a greatthing in my view. It just seems unfair that these guys can get a scholarship for playing and then they just say "Im done now, Im going to the NFL".

If Iowa played at LSU, at Penn State, Indiana, and Oregon in four consecutive weeks like UCLA did, they would be under .500

I just cannot get hyped for bowl games anymore. All the good bowl games are in the playoffs now and half of the players sit out due to transfer or draft. Regarding Iowa football, take the season for what it is, disappointing. Play for next year and look forward to the transfer portal movement from Lester, otherwise watch how many Hawkeyes get drafted. Hope Lester brings in things we need because the defense will be mediocre next year.

The other difference is KF is having to rally the troops 4 times now.
