For one of our most meaningful episodes yet, Katie and Missy talk to 3x Olympic medalist, Crissy Perham! Crissy is an amazing swimmer and an even better human being. Connected to Missy’s family for life, she donated one of her kidneys to Missy’s father. Today, they discuss how that incredible story transpired, get into some important information about living organ donations, and then finish up ...

She is SO cool!!!
This race was the most exciting race of all the swims in Paris. Tough loss for Alex but she seems to be coming to terms with it with insightful reflection. I watch carefully for sportsmanship in the athletes after each race. Congratulations to Summer McIntosh for her amazing win in this race!♡
Thank you Unfiltered Waters. It is very true. Missy say giving back something like that. Oh Katie beat Kristy Coventry leh. I didn't know that. Haha. Ya, this place is a perfect opportunity for athletes-swimmers to let their supporters, friends, family, team, viewers see and hear them. In depth. I have seen 4 episodes so far. 🤭 (Summer, Alex, Crissy, Missy&Katie) 👍
This is why great swimmers always say "stay in my own lane" "swim my own race". She DQed bc she was peeking the competition. Still think she could have apologized to Kate for shrugging off her hug after the race. I don't know why but I can't unsee that.
Congratulations! Feel like I’ve watched you two grow up on UA-cam. Love the show. 🌟
I love both of you! Thank you for brightening 2024, which was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year for me personally. Thanks also for posting your podcasts on Wed, because it is my day off!😄
So sweet, thank you !!!
You two don’t know how good you are. Summer’s podcast was awesome but so was Regan Smith’s and Alex Walsh’s. Would love it if you had some way to contact you.
Addendum: I show some of your clips to ppl who aren’t ex swimmers, who find them instructive.
Happy New Year to the both of you! 🎉🎉
Thanks for sharing this. It really helps me in my masters swimming experience. 💪 🏊
I love everything about this response to such a rough life event. We love this queen ❤
she mentioned later in the full episode that she had a lingering knee injury that ended requiring surgery…for her to make it to the olympics and basically get 3rd place in the final with the injury is an amazing achievement…a fully healthy alex minus the DQ woulda won gold IMO…excited to see her in 2028 hopefully she doesn’t lose motivation before then since i think her prime is just now starting 🙌🙏✊
Well, you did beautiful well at World Aquatics Swimming Championships.. 🙂 Alex, to stand on top of that podium. It means, out of 7.3 billion people in the world; you are the best among all of them. Well, you have done it once. And with 12 out of 7.3 billion, 7 times. All the best. Happy New Year Unfiltered Waters Podcast.
please get cody miller on!! he’d be so interesting talking about his full career and retirement etc!!
26:35 Ledecky's kind gesture toward Paige to join her on the gold-medal step of the podium is one of my favorite memories of the Paris Olympics, plus Torri Huske doing the same for Gretchen Walsh.
Caeleb Dressel, you done Did IT!❤
Relays, living donor, grace.. I am just so drawn to what Crissy Perham has said.
Wanting success doesn't make you greedy. Thinking you deserve success more than anyone else does.
That’s actually hilarious
I am very impressed. I did the same thing before back surgery. Different operation of course. P---- reduction. Everybody cracked up.
I knew I recognized the name, as I saw the story done with Missy’s dad about the kidney donation! What an amazing woman, and an even more amazing conversation!
where can I watch the full thing?
These sisters are soo amazing!
More caeleb please!
I’m also a big TC fan and it was great seeing him in the flesh at the ceremony 😊
I think the career of a sprinter can potentially be much longer than a mid/distance swimmer, but I suspect the weight training gets more important as you age. Caeleb hasn’t gained back the muscle he had before, and I think that’s why Cam McEvoy was able to make a comeback. The muscle matters
Fully agreed, one of the best examples is Florent Manaudou. He worked super hard in the gym to get in shape for the Olympics and made a nice comeback at 34 !
Alex is so pretty. Love her eyes. Thanks guys for inviting that beautiful champion again. Can you invite Leon Marchand? And Summer McIntosh again maybe?
All the UVA girls are so chatty, poor Todd. Imagine trying to get workout started with the Walsh sisters on deck?
Dont think Gretchen is gonna have much problem winning the instagram battle anytime soon.
Im a huge fan of the swimming podcast episodes and was kinda putting this one off as you know it wasn’t the usual but woah was this one amazing !!! Kristen has a new follower and thank you to you guys for always picking the best people to interview.
OK, I got a little scared when Elizabeth started asking this question 😂
Ha, Gretchen said the same thing. Love both of these sisters
she predicted the “bunch” of world records!!
That turn wasn't just a one time thing...she's been turning illegally for a long time. Did her coach take any responsibility for not addressing that?
Are you going to invite Hunter Armstrong? His interview is always fun😄
The S of SQL is for « Structured » ! Thanks Unfiltered Waters for this great interview !
a coach leaving for another team or something is so heartbreaking 😭
what a graceful answer and interview
I do not think a lot of people would relate to love of pushing themselves physically.
As a Data Engineer who has been a DBA and Data Architect, seeing Alex geek out about it was a lot of fun! There are a TON of things you can do with those skills. Every industry has use for data and there are lots of different things you can do with it. Getting the internship was a great thing to do. Just remember you can find a data related job in any industry, even swimming. So much else was awesome in this interview too, but getting a data engineering shout out from an Olympian was so cool!
No idea who this is.
Alex Walsh
@@Betty-Boop809 I still have no idea who she is. Is she important?
@@FirstLast-dm7hv she’s an Olympic swimmer
Does she have to be „important“ for her to have something worthwhile to share? Damn…
@@vkb9013 Nope, just wondering what the significance of some random YT video of someone saying what she is saying.
The two hostesses are obviously not horse racing fans. The reference to Secretariat could not be more obvious. And Gretchen already performed to that level in Budapest.
Great interview, ate a half box of teddy grahams while watching this.
This may be my favorite comment to date hahahahha
lol love this comment
Alex is basically my daughter's age. I look up to her. Of course, I also look up to my daughter, but... What a young lady. Great job, ladies. This was so good. Later gator vs
I’ve watched all of them and this was by far my favorite! It was SO fun and I felt like I smiles the whole way through
off topic but Alex’s face card is top tier
Absolutely lethal face card plus Olympic level athleticism and grit.
She’s definitely the best looking female swimmer her and Emma Weyant..
@@Swimmer97654yep Alex and Emma are both gorgeous
Love this podcast! ❤ So fun!
Baby sis passed big sis in IG followers .. again 🤭
You guys are adorable. ❤
deep voices.
Glad Reagan learned that she is much more than a swimmer.
Torri became, possibly, my favorite swimmer of all time in Paris. I’m 45 and was a D1 swimmer back in the day. She put up multiple heroic swims in a single meet. I’ll never forget her mixed medley leg! Edit: I only mention my age to convey how many great swims I’ve watched over the years, and to put her performance in Paris at the top of that list.
