Harris & Trump’s Competing Vision on Construction
Thanks for 17,000 subscribers!

--------------------------------------------------------
The 2024 U.S. presidential election presents two competing visions for the construction industry. Kamala Harris aims to extend current infrastructure investments, supporting renewable energy, clean tech, and public-sector projects while balancing inflation. Her approach includes union-friendly policies, promoting green building, and supporting climate-resilient projects. Donald Trump, however, advocates for traditional infrastructure such as roads and fossil fuel projects, with a focus on deregulation, tax cuts, and private investment. His strategy is expected to boost domestic material production, streamline project approvals, and potentially lower construction costs. This video provides a detailed, impartial analysis of each candidate's policies and their potential impact on sectors like energy, labor, and environmental regulations. Whether supporting Harris or Trump, this election’s outcome will shape America’s construction landscape, influencing everything from financing and labor costs to project types and regional focus for years to come.

By adding tolls to the deal they will cause massive overcrowding of the Glen Jackson bridge as people avoid these tolls. Better to just float bonds to cover it but what do I know. We do really need more crossing option for the future if the Green loons will stop obstructing anything to do with progress.

I'm a longtime NFL fan from the UK. My understanding of the situation is that the new stadium will actually be owned by NY State, with the Bills owners simply leasing it from them (for 30 years, with an option to buy it after 15 years).

There's a reason why Clark County WA residents have rejected lightrail into Vancouver. Besides, even if the new bridge had twenty lanes, further south at the 405 interchange lanes are reduced causing additional congestion.

Downtown Chicago is busy but lacks the vibrancy that cities like New York, London, Paris, Tokyo and Shanghai have - at the end of the day, it’s just a midwestern metropolis with lots of tall buildings, albeit beautiful architecture plus world class museums, and expensive rental properties - the smaller neighbourhoods surrounding the loop are more interesting but increasingly are losing their small independent retail shops that you find in the other cities i mentioned; instead, all you see are boring national chains like Warby Parker, Bluemercury, Lulumelon, Arcteryx, etc… which is exacerbated by very high rents that small businesses can’t afford. The city is economically and racially divided like most American cities - good alternative if you can’t afford the more expensive coastal cities that are far more dynamic and interesting. I know some will argue that NYC folk are rude but don’t believe the hype, Chicago denizens are far from midwestern nice and are as rough around the edges as any large metro area in America

The I95 crossing of the Potomac River was a drawbridge. Because it carried the Wash. Beltway it was heavily used and deteriorating. One night while traffic backed up for a raised span an 18 wheeler lost its brakes and slammed into the backup, killing a family. The proposed replacements were a tall bridge, a tunnel, or close the river to ocean going traffic. After years, they ended up building the most beautiful and expensive drawbridge in history.

This is the biggest boondoggle in the PNW. They should stop wasting money and do something. This has been talked about sense the 90's. They waste money on studies and put money into fatcats pockets. Keep the Iconic bridge . It's a landmark. Build on either side and integrate it as a walking path and a way to get to Janson Beach. If they can raise back in the day they surly can make it more stable to last a lot longer. This is what we get when the governments of these two states stop acting for the people and just do things for themselves. The plans that that had back in the 80's to fix the problems should be looked at again. The wanted to take the railroad bridge over and make a new path accross the river should be looked at again. Also the new crossing that would add a new bipass across at Ridgfield to take over 217 and make a new interstate would make the trip for trucks going to California less of a hassle. It would take a couple of bad spots that going thru downtown and the terwilliger curves off the route. Plus making the 217 a new interstate would make it wider and add government funding to do some additions to the road. In short, fix this and stop the waste. 200 million spent and nothing done. They could have taken that and made this structure stronger with that money.

As an Oregonian I dont want to pay any more than Washington, and refuse to pay any toll. Oregon's local and state government know how to waste hundreds of millions on stupid "studies" so its no surprise nothing ever gets done. I doubt this bridge will be replaced anytime soon.

Its a bridge that needs updating. Like the majority of everyone in the country that goes to florida for vacation has to cross this bridge. Not to mention the businesses that also use it. It's so congested on the weekends it's horrible

Without question this residential tower is totally inappropriate for the site. The very last thing this site needed is a supertall building which unfortunately makes the existing bank building look like a toy. How is it possible the Planning Commission allowed the developer to build such a tall building which is completely out of scale with its surroundings? The tower unfortunately looks like a sick cartoon from a Star Wars movie - ie. dark and nasty looking! I really wish people would stop being overly impressed with something just because its new and different. Nothing more than a super colossal monument to someones twisted ego.
