I Install a 1947 Engine on a Bicycle and Test it on the Road - Part 3/3
In this final part, I install the small 1947 bicycle engine on a bike from the same period and test it on the road. This engine was produced in 1947, its name is Alpino, and like other engines designed for the same purpose, it was mounted on bicycles in post-war Italy to help ordinary people get around, turning their bikes into motorized vehicles.

In the video, in addition to the restoration process, I will briefly delve into the history of these engines, illustrating the reasons for their birth and the context in which they emerged. While I will be restoring this engine, I ...
Can a Radio Rewind Time? Picnic Radio Restoration

The radio belongs to my grandmother. I found it among her belongings in the basement, and when I asked her who it belonged to, she replied saying it was a gift from my grandfather, her husband, and that they used to take it with them when they went on picnics. My grandfather is no longer with us, and my grandmother was very upset about the condition the radio was in. Without saying anything, I ...

Flashlight Restoration for a Bike from 1950 This old flashlight, probably from the 1950s, was produced by Trehawk, and doing some research, it appears that the company is very old and also produced flashlights used during WW2. The video flashlight is a model that can be used on the bike but also as a portable flashlight, since it uses a battery inside and not the dynamo of the bike to turn on. ...

    Does the spokes cope with the hp? My Victoria m38 has only 0.8 hp but the spokes have be reinforced in order not to break...

    • @Ego.Reficio
      @Ego.Reficio 3 дні тому

      I haven’t had any issues with the spokes so far. To mount the sprocket, I had to remove the freewheel, screw on the sprocket, and then reinstall the freewheel. So, it doesn’t transmit torque directly to the wheel spokes

    They should make these again, but as small more efficient motors. 25cc up to 50cc. 2 and 4 stroke variants with a dial transmission near the hand. Performance upgrades can also be sold.

      I don't think they would be popular with the public. An electric motor would be cheaper and more practical-unfortunately.

    I love old Italian stuff, in my front room I have a Lambretta Li150, the 617th built in the first run late 1957 aka a series 1 and next to it is my beautiful somewhat customised 1985 Vespa T5 "squaretail" which got vandalised some years back and other things just get in the way of me putting it back on the road although it goes MoT exempt this year and road tax exempt next year so in no hurry. Sadly it was missing its iconic 7 port 125cc engine when I got it but I bought from a contact in India direct out the back door of LML, a brand new hot off the assembly line LML Xpress 150cc engine with 5 ports, reed valve and 24/24 carb and its bloody quick up to 80mph but has nothing to give after that, seeing as the speed limit here is 70 not a biggie :) I did have the T5's moon disc wheels on it but changed for a set of FA Italia alloys in neon green lol

      Hello, on a Lambretta, I`ve made my drive-licence for motorcycles in 1968. The clutch was a horror and I made a wheely straight forward, instead to corner to the right. But I´ve got my licence.🙂

    This idea seems so intuitive compared to the modern engine kits which mount to the interior of the frame. This one can mount to step through frames without modification, places the weight over the traction, puts all the grease and exhaust fumes solidly behind the rider, and has such a short chain it's very unlikely to skip.

    Bel lavoro, molto carino questo motore ausiliario, mi piace anche più del mosquito...direi abbastanza raro pure. Chissà se uno volendo, riesce facilmente a targarlo e a usarlo ogni tanto come ciclomotore oggi?

    • @Ego.Reficio
      @Ego.Reficio 5 днів тому

      Grazie! Non saprei sinceramente. Penso però che non è una passeggiata per immatricolarlo considerando che è praticamente un motore montato su una bici. Non avendo i documenti potrebbero fare storie sul telaio della bici, non essendo omologato etc

  • @markianclark9645
    @markianclark9645 7 днів тому

    as with everyone else's comments...good work...i assume 41 on the road sign is Kilometres/hour...that would equal around 25MPH...yes? quite enough on a bicycle...pedalling is ok if you only go a mile or two like in a city...but to go further in reasonable time you need a motor...i cycled when i was young...but i soon learnt when i discovered motorbikes...that is probably a 49cc...i use a 125cc usually...but any 100cc to 125cc is enough for me...

    • @Ego.Reficio
      @Ego.Reficio 5 днів тому

      Thank you! Yes, the sign shows km/h. This was more of a work engine, mounted on tricycles with a front cargo box for carrying objects or other goods. Considering the period in which it was sold, this engine, like others, was designed to motorize bicycles, allowing ordinary people to travel when they couldn’t afford a motorcycle or a car. • @Ego.Reficio
      @Ego.Reficio 5 днів тому

      The noise level is in line with that of engines from that time, and for practicality, you have to imagine it mounted on a tricycle with a cargo box at the front. This type of engine was more of a "work" engine, as it was typically installed on tricycles with front cargo boxes used to transport materials, objects, and more. I recommend watching the first video on this topic-there are photos of brochures showing them mounted on tricycles. ua-cam.com/video/sUXNgug7ttM/v-deo.htmlsi=D3v4uDkvgyF4j1KH&t=139
